That's not what "literal" means. If it was literal that would mean it would literally be a plot device. That would mean they would use this device to literally alter the plot KNOWING they're altering the plot, thus breaking the 4th wall or something. It is a device but it isn't a plot device from their perspective.

Well, sure. The dolls suck, that's a fact. But McCarthy & Co. tried super-hard to avoid the sexist stereotypes in the actual movie. Besides the designs, what kind of "sexist" behaviour was even in the movie? The one little thing I can think of is Flash Sentry. Again - he didn't even get a large role in the film. But besides that... what was there? The Fall Formal Princess contest? No, not really. No one was interested in that besides TS & SS. And did they want the title for the sake of being the prettiest princess in the school? Nope, they wanted the Crown - SS so she could conquest Equestria, TS so she could protect it. There was one more character intrested in that, but a year prior - Rarity. But that's Rarity! She loves that kind of stuff, even... no, especially in the show. And how did Twilight become the FF Princess? By uniting everyone in the school. Basically - by showcasing what a great person she was, not on the outside but inside. (this is getting sappy... ) So if anyone can point out any sexist behaviour (besides Rarity & Flash Sentry mentioned above), please do. --- Now, the designs. First - the ones in the actual movie. I really don't know how people got the "sexist" vibe from them. If they ARE sexist, then this is as well: (Ps.: It isn't) --- Now - the dolls. Riddle me this. How would the Galaxy Girls toys would've looked like if Hasbro or any large toy company, really, got their hands on the license. Yeah. --- tl;dr - the movie isn't sexist, the dolls are. Blame the guilty Hasbro department. DHX is pure.

Clearly the creators knew where it was going since they made S4 afterwards. Princess TS was written way before MMC aired and McCarthy herself said she considered PTS as parts 2&3 of a 3-parter. The FANS were not entirely sure where it was going and, quite frankly, their complaints were based on nothing more than mere conjecture. It seems it always comes down to big bad Hasbro and their "corporate mandate". Yeah, the entire show is one large corporate mandate. Hasbro needed it to promote toys. That's never a good argument.

Unpopular Opinions Regarding the Show

Both were first & foremost evil presences everyone was afraid of. Both got very little screentime & dialogue. Both lost their physical forms. Both have a creepy voice. Oh, and there's also this: (Hobbit 2 which oddly enough came out after the Crystal Empire aired; does darkness vs a protective light bubble remind you of something? ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpqIDQI3Gqw- 1,378 replies

Unpopular Opinions Regarding the Show
ThePreciseClimber replied to DITR's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
MMC was the best episode ever. Princess Twilight Sparkle 1&2 was disappointing. Rainbow Falls is as good as Pinkie Pride. Pinkie Pride is as bad as Rainbow Falls. Merriwether Williams is a really good writer. AK Rogers is a tad overrated. Silver Shill was awesome. Cheese Sandwich gets too much love compared to other Key Givers. Season 3 was the best season before S4. The Equestria Games saga was better than the Grand Galloping Gala story arc. Sombra was awesome as an MLP version of Sauron. Spitfire's character was perfectly fine in her S3&4 apprearances. Pinkie in Filli Vanilli wasn't in any way worse than RD's initial behaviour in Pinkie Pride. Babs Seed needs to return in Season 5. Flash Sentry needs more screentime. Owlicious is best pet. (Especially after Inspiration Manifestation) All Spike episodes are at least good. A lot of them are REALLY good.- 1,378 replies

Which pony least lives up to her element?
ThePreciseClimber replied to Ezynell's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
What, just one? Some will tell you Griffon the brush-off sucked. Some will tell you Wonderbolts Academy sucked. And some will tell you Rainbow Falls sucked. --- RF is a pretty interesting case. I think it's the first episode so many people either really, really hated or really, really loved. Even with the most controversial ones it has never been like this. I.e. - Mare do well. Some hate it but some will tell you it's actually pretty okay. There's isn't anyone who would love it to death. Magical Mystery cure. Some love it but some say it's "meh" or a mixed bag. No one will tell you they downright hate the episode. Unless they're Twilicorn haters. Hate born out of conjecture because they judged Twi's role in season 4 before S3 finale even aired. -

Trade Ya actually IS a very good example of RD's loyalty. The "betrayal" was not intentional, all she heard at that moment was "Blah, blah, blah" and she was all "I got the book, I got the book!". Not to mention her speech in the Twilight Court. I would say Pinkie Pride is a much better showcase of the lack of loyalty. -
Do you think Rarity charges bits for her designs?
ThePreciseClimber replied to ggg-2's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
It's pretty obvious the show will not discuss the money unless it's about Applejack. The only exception to that rule was probably Fluttershy in Putting Your Hoof down but even then it didn't seem to play a large role. Even at the end with Iron Will it's wasn't the actual issue. But yeah - besides PYHD it was always Applejack - her reason to go the Gala, both conflicts with the Flim Flam brothers and The Last Roundup. -
