  1.  Yeah, same here. Flurry Heart's eyes look like they came from a parody video of bad anime cliches!

AWESOME! I'm not alone in this!

I loved the bead eyes. They worked on the principle of "Less is More". They IMPLIED huge eyes. And those babies were the CUTEST EVER!

When I first saw the "new eyes", it was that photo of Applejack in "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows". I assumed it was just an animator's goof....

....then FLURRY HEART came along....

  2. I'm kind of weird in that I actually prefer the classic "bead-eyes" look. The new style is too overwhelming for me.

....or maybe I'm so used to it that the new style's jarring for me. It's still adorable but I need to get used to it.

I always am like, "Geez, animators! STICK WITH an infant foal style for once!".

Are the Cake Twins going to look different, now? Maybe they'll be aged-up to kid-pony stage next time we see them, so they can have full-eyes without making us go "Huh?!".

I'd love to know, though; What's with all these different versions of infant ponies?

    First, we had this....

    Then we had this....

    Now we have this....

It's like Klingons with or without head-ridges!

  3. I like the lesson and there's a lot of amusing moments but somehow that darn Daring Do fangirl character needed to be called-out for her jerkassery. It's so obvious that she was just stringing Dashie around! No one called her out! No apologies from her. Her attitude was worthy of a punch in the muzzle. Twilight should have ruled in Dash's favor and addressed that Daring-Do pony's goalpost-moving and deceiving. If indeed I'm wrong about Twilight's ruling, at least have Twilight call that pony out or something.

I know everything worked out in the end and friendship is more important and Rainbow was happier with the Daring-Do book that Twilight gave her.

I understand that sometimes, nasty people are never called out and jerks exist with impunity but it just seems a bit disconcerting in MLP. Even the alleged "Karma Houdinis", Flim & Flam would get called out, their schemes flop despite technically succeeding and run out of town.

The Daring-Do fangirl, along with that cherry-selling guy in "Putting Your Hoof Down" just grinds my gears big time and spoil an otherwise decent and funny episode. That's just me, of course.

Also; Pinkie never apologized to that filly. She went all OOC-jerkass on that poor thing and never apologized. Pinkie loves children and would never be a jerk to them unless she was apologetic, afterwards. At least show Pinkie apologize and buy the kid a candy-apple or something.

I finally watched "Rainbow Falls"....aka....The "Jerkass Wonderbolts" episode.....but I LOVED it! The difference between that episode and "Trade Ya"/"Putting Your Hoof Down" is that in "Rainbow Falls", the Wonderbolts deeply regretted being jerks, apologized and admitted that they were just "caught up in the moment". Their OOC-moment had an excuse and they were sorry.

I know it's a bit over-the-top for me to let 1 or 2 small details spoil an episode for me but bullies and "Karma Houdinis" are a HUGE "Berserk Button" for me. I was seriously-bullied as a kid and it does a number on you.

I would've enjoyed these episodes if.....

    * Cherry-Seller Guy was included in Fluttershy's "Flutterjerk" rampage.

    * Daring-Do Fangirl Mare admit that she was stringing Rainbow along and had no intention of trading that book (then get called out).

    * Pinkie Pie later apologizes to that filly and buys her a nice treat or they have a hug or offers to cater that filly's upcoming birthday party for free. Twilight gives the kid a book.

Another episode that irks me is "Just For Sidekicks".....a big "Shaggy Dog Story" that dumps on Spike.

I do confess that, despite Jerkie Pie and Ms. Daring-NO, Spike at least had a great time in "Trade Ya".

  4. AJ's so sleepy

    Do the animated count sheep?

    Ponies rule my dreams

Obligatory unnecessary reminiscing rambling for roleplay access, part 3/5

So. Big Mac. Few words. Huge impact.

It might be unhealthy or weird, but ever since that episode I find it difficult to say "yes" or "no". These two little buggers simply refuse to render as anything else than "ay-up" or "e-nope". Makes me smile every time too.

On an unrelated note, where's the "Audition included product placement" disclaimer in every episode of MLP? So many brands of juicy apples being advertised subliminally...

I know. Love the episode and I get a craving for apples. In fact, I'm eating some right now. :smug:

All right, I watched Apple pony's episode and it was pretty darn good! This is easily the best episode so far and has some nice characterisation. I particularly liked quite a few things in this episode such as, but not limited to Applejack neighing in her sleep, that scene in which she drags the trophy through a silent crowd, and Derpy saying "muffins" in the background. The comedy was pretty fantastic!

I think I liked pretty much everything in this one and I'd certainly say it's the first great episode in the series!

    Also, Spike ate garbage. Ew.

Favourite pony of the episode: Applejack

    Total Derpy sightings: 15

Don't forget Pinkie in this! Slo-Mo and Barfy Pinkie are a hoot!

    ....and Applejack's *blecch* face.

  5. If you want the shout outs.. you might look into the hatfield and mccoy feud, also this link might tell you some things.

As was said in this video, this stallion was likely a shout out to Perry Cline, who had married a McCoy, shift this stallion to human and his look becomes very similar

Ah! A Perry Cline pony! I wonder what the tuning fork means? Was he into music? Radio? Piano-tuner? Seismologist? Is the cutie-mark actually a Jaw-Harp? He definitely looks like Perry Cline (as he appears in that Hatfields & McCoys miniseries).

  6. I'm wondering about the one McColt stallion who's surprisingly well-dressed. He has a tuning-fork cutie mark. Is he a reference to someone?

    dheknr.jpg

You have all these scrufts with bad hair, teeth and (likely) hygene...and then there's this one guy among them who looks like a dapper 19th century gentleman with an Old West flair.

There's got to be a reason for the design. He must be a shout-out to something.

  7. As a noir fan, this episode pleased me in so many ways. I loved the fact that they started at the Boutique again for a touch of continuity and the fact that they parodied several Noir staples made me laugh. This episode was even better than last week's!

I did however have one problem with it. Well...two actually, since I find it hard to believe that everyone could suspect Rainbow Dash so quickly. But that was crucial to the episode so I'll give it a pass. What I didn't like is the fact that Windrider was about as obvious as a neon hammer to the skull as the culprit from the get-go,  which kinda made all this build-up rather pointless in the long-run. I would have preferred it if it had been anyone except for Windrider (for a moment I even suspect Spitfire's mom after tha bakery claimed that a mare picked up the cake and then she tried to not only frame Dash, but Windrider as well!. Wouldn't that have been awesome?!

Don't know how you would mistake a stallion for a mare, but whatever.

I think he was cross-dressing. He wore a mare's hat & coat and his face was covered up by the scarf. His voice is pretty raspy and he probably taked in a higher octave when ordering the cake.

  8. This is really depressing.. ;~; Everyone in Paris will meet peace and happiness.

    Same, here.

I also like to think that the deceased victims are okay in their new life in the hereafter. I believe in an after life and I take refuge in the notion that those who were BODILY murdered by those creeps are doing okay and at peace.

  9. All we can do is have hope.  These are dark times and its sadly looks like its only going to get worse.

Sometimes, things get worse before they get better.

    But things WILL get better.

I feel we're entering a New Age and all the bad stuff from the Old Age must come out in the open and be dealt with first.

    * The Piscean Age becoming the Aquarian Age.

    * The end and re-start of the Mayan Long-Count Calender.

    * The Book of Revelation (Taken ALLEGORICALLY).

    * Ragnarok (again, ALLEGORY).

    * The Kali Yuga becoming the Dvapara Yuga (according to Sri Yukteswar in The Holy Science).

Whatever the tradition, you can't deny that there's a big world change thingy going on. Don't worry, after all is said and done, things will be okay in the end.

(I know not everyone believes this stuff. Please don't see me as insensitive. I am okay with those without these spiritual/mystical/afterlife worldviews)

  10. How horrible :/. Things like this just put me in a bad mood.

Hmm. I know that what I'm about to say is an unpopular opinion, but I wish that we got to hear stories on the news about good things muslims/middle easterners have done :). Surely there have been some muslims that have made positive impacts on the world around us. I'm not saying that all these bad things shouldn't be reported... but I'd like to have a bit of balance for a change.

Anyways, I got off topic. My feelings go out to those in Paris... I hope Blobulle is okay...

There has been. Unfortuneately our media tends to downplay it because it's run by wingnuts.

I hope the remaining hostages get rescued.

As for the dead....I feel they're alive in a new life beyond this one. What is a body but a meatsuit for the soul? The dead are okay and in the afterlife.

There needs to be a better screening process in regards to refugees. The refugees should be accepted but there needs to be a screening process.

Wahabbism (the false Islam that freaks like DAESH, The Taliban, Al Queda, etc. follow) needs to be addressed. It must be countered with genuine Muslim voices who espouse peace and humanity. The West needs to stop it's aliance with Saudi Arabia. The Saudis are the root of today's "Islamism"...which is anything but Islamic. They've been funding this under the table for years. They've been opening Maddrassas teaching this filth. Wahhabism is a disgusting perversion of the Islamic faith. There needs to be saner Islamic counter-voices. Christians, Jews and others need to reach out to normal Muslims.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wahhabism

Western nations need to reach out to their Muslim populations. Befriending, learning about each other and working together can help prevent further terrorist attacks and reduce the instances thereof.

Free and open countries should NEVER succumb to fear and let the Far-Right take over. Fascists are just as bad as Wahhabis. Let's hope cooler heads prevail and that France's Far-Right doesn't get a foot-hold. Succumbing to Far-Right politics as a response to fear is the oldest trick in the book and people need to stop falling for it. Surely the French are intelligent enough to have at least some cooler heads to put things in perspective. They need to remember what happened under the Nazis. Wingnuttery is not the answer!

  11. We appear to be the only two people in the forum that have seen this movie and caught the reference.

......and in his jar is a mini-Smooze! So cute!

I liked this episode and had no problem with it. Whatever made the episode uncomfortable was rectified in the end and Discord teaching a moral lesson by being an amusing jerk is very much something he'd do.

The inside jokes were never fully explained but that was the point. That said, we do get various hints (my interpretation...)

    * Discord changed the apples at Sweet Apple Acres into oranges (and perhaps there was some sort of mixup involving apples & oranges) and everyone was spooked by a snake only to find out it was some sort of vine/stick/hose. They have a good laugh as one of them said "Orange you glad it eally wasn't a snake?!".

    * Discord and maybe some of the other ponies either stepped in a bunch of peanut butter at the café or walked around with the jars as shoes.

Some people don't like this episode but personally, I had no problem with it. I had more of a problem with aspects of Sweet & Elite (Rarity lies to everybody and it doesn't backfire on her), Putting Your Hoof Down (The whole town took a level in jerkass like Fluttershy and this is never addressed or dealt with like with Flutters. No comeuppance for the cherry guy. Angel Bunny was less a cute grumpy bunny and more a domestic abuser...but Flutters does discpline him in the end with 'THE STARE'!) and Just for Sidekicks (Just a sadist show at the expense of Spike....even if some of it was his fault).

I confess that I haven't watched the one with the "Jerkass Wonderbolts" that everyone talks about.

That said, even the above-mentioned episodes that bug the heck out of me had plenty of amusing moments. I love Iron Will and his goofy, Vince Offer/ShamWow Guy-looking goat sidekicks. It would have been a great episode had they addressed the creeps in town better and that cherry guy. Maybe have Iron Will admit he was a little pushy and tell the town the lesson that Fluttershy learned. Cherry guy either gets to be part of Fluttershy's rampage montage or he apologizes for being a slimebag (even giving Flutters a basket of free cherries). I really wanted to punch cherry-guy. I do love the stuff with Pinkie & Rarity and the guy at the clock-tower.

I liked this episode because whatever jerkassery there was was addressed, the ponies apologized to Twilight, Discord was "being Discord", the gags were great, Spike was himself again, Zecora makes an appearance (and states the cauldron is usually just decor) and there was a good moral.

And Flutterorange was cute....she had A-PEEL!

  12. I think it might be because she took it for granted that they would. Around Ponyville, she's well-known among the animals - she's the caretaker, runs the shelter {as an aside, how is it supported?} and is otherwise a known quantity. In Canterlot gardens, to someone who's never met her, she would have come across as a grabby-handed child throwing a tantrum for not getting what she wanted.

Has she? I'll need to rewatch it again, but if memory serves, what we've seen of her was hiding in her cottage trying to get away from Luna that terrifying Nightmare Moon.

You're right. She was hiding away in her cozy cottage....then Twilight wanted her to give Luna speech-lessons. It went nowhere and Luna hugged Flutters until she passed out.

  13. Starlight's been showing up in backgrounds after that one bit in that restaurant? Wow! Has someone compiled a list of these?

Oh, about that (looked it up)....

So far, about two (Look at the red arrows I've added)....

    FIRST ONE....

    2a600mr.jpg

    SECOND ONE....

    ejiqmq.jpg

    Starlight's sneaky! :umad:

We need to add more face icons. There needs to be Starlight Glimmer. Also, some more villains.

    • Brohoof 2
  14. Rainbow Dash laughed at the concept of Fluttershy being scary but she's probably the scariest pony of the Mane 6. The Stare, Mean Fluttershy (Season 2 episode 19), Flutterhulk (Season 4 episode 6) and Flutterbat!

Once you think of it, yeah! Sweet, lovely, beautiful Flutters certainly has a dark/baddass side that comes out to play every so often.

Ooh! You forgot "Obsessed & Crazy Fluttershy".....

    fluttershy_love_me_by_s_j_art-d41u1rd_zp

Oh, Fluttershy; You deranged little equine-version-of-Glen-Close-in-Fatal-Attraction, you!

I wonder why those critters never liked her to begin with? It was never explained. I mean, she's a critter-magnet! I guess they were snobby Canterlot critters....The critter-equivalent of Jet Set & Upper Crust.

Gotta love the CRAZY ponies!:blink: :scoots:  :derp::sunbutt:  :mustache:  :umad:

PinkieJack (if related, they'd be so darn distant that it wouldn't matter)

    WaddleSmith (hey, they're geezers)

I don't really think of anything for the foals or even Spike because they're just children and Spike's crush on Rarity wouldn't really go anywhere because he's a child reptile and Rarity is a full-grown equine and I doubt it would be "right".....unless interspecies pairing is posible or normal in that world. Spike's Rarity-crush is akin to a "small child crushing on his teacher" sort of thing.
