  1. Really, this episode didn't have much to offer at all. All it seemed to do is attempt to give a character more screen time, I guess since Applejack hasn't had enough appearances this season? It ended up just being kinda... bland. There was nothing that was annoying, disgusting, or offensive or anything like that, all I can say is that it was lacking and just plain slow. It's a candidate for the most okay episode of the series.

  2. In addition to this, her flaws appear to have been greatly toned down and she doesn't make mistakes like she used to. She only had two journal entries in season 4: one in Three's a Crowd and one in Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3. However, the one in Three's a Crowd was not really based on any flaw on her part, so that's really only one legitimate lesson she learned all season, while the others learned several.

I think that you're forgetting that the reason Twilight has been crowned Alicorn Princess is because she recieved a complete undertstanding of friendship, therefore no longer needing to write these journal entries of what she learned of friendship, and that's how it made room for the other characters to grow.

  3. I honestly haven't seen any shows from the 90's unless they carried through the 2000's. But even so, the talk about today's cartoons being worse than them and calling them golden is stupid. Look at what we have now! This show, obviously, but also Gravity Falls, Steven Unverse, Gumball, Wander Over Yonder, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Clarence, Dan vs., Rick and Morty, Bob's Burgers,  Futurama's reboot, heck, even Nickelodeon has had a few good shows like Korra and Robot and Monster (even if they don't want to be asscoiated with them because then they'd fool people into thinking they give a crap). Even if you don't like any of these shows, saying the 90's are golden is pretty much the worst argument you can make next to stuff like "It's a kids show" or "It's a parody of this." It's just a case of someone being nostalgia blind and being unable to accept change in the world. There are plenty of bad shows now, I'll give it that, but nothing is perfect in this world. I'm sure the 90's had something wrong, we just don't care to remember it. But since I haven't experienced the 90's, I really have no say in this argument.

  4. Both are pretty much poisonous, an the only time I drink them is when I get really sick or on a special occasion. However, if I had pick one I'd probaly pick Coke. It's Cherry variant tastes pretty good.

  5. No, not really. There are plenty of good shows with plenty of complicated elements. Arthur, an example aimed more directly at kids, doesn't dumb stuff down to asking obvious questions like that Dora crap, but instead plays around with the situations and dialougue so that it is relatable for the audience at hand, without removing any important elements, which allows for the children to truly be able to learn and build character. With this idea, they can even get down to cancer and 9/11 terrorism, and convey it well without traumatizing them or anything. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a similar concept, only it's been able to wean away from just being for little girls towards the end of the first season. It still is completely suitable for them, though, as it still retains the elements that these good pre-school shows can have, while now having many other elements that could attract older audiences. It's nice. But don't have kids watching it every day when they're like, under 4 or 5, they're not going to truly remember it even if they do learn.

  6. Was this the episode that got me into the series? Of course it was! Why would I not start with the first episode, am I right!? And I loved it at the time. However, after going much deeper into the show, you realize, eh, it's kind of-- dull. It's not really that much of a problem, as with the first episode (actually, the first couple), we can never truly figure out exactly what the show wanted to be. And now we know it's gonna take risks and take them well. Here, it's just a bit underdone. The first half does fine at introducing the characters, led to some pretty funny moments, and was just nice, but first the characters were slightly flanderized. It kinda needed to be that, though, in order to fit all thier main character triats into under 22 minutes, so I won't complain. Second, the rest of plot becomes predictble because of that. Twilight doesn't care about friends and just wants to complete the task, and along the way meets and get to know them, and Friendship becomes magic and all that stuff. It's still decent. But the second half falls apart and is just vague at times and stupid at others. (What does telling someone to fall to thier death represent honesty? What's with that sea serpent?) It picked up with an amazing climax, but that's really it. Overall, this episode's fine to start the series with, but is not very good to rewatch.

Final Verdict: Meh. It was ok.
