Roots, onions and herbs made a simple, but tasty soup and Riptide devoured it in nearly one go. Bitter Frost took his time, but enjoyed it just as much as his partner. The hut they were in was made out of wood, clay and straw, and had a cozy feel to it. The mare making the soup was still making more soup. Its smell filled the hut and made both Guardians even hungrier. Riptide set his bowl on the table. "I never asked you this, but why do you keep the wall alive? The water takes the way it takes, but you bend it to your will. Or at least you try, regarding all the fissures you have to tend." Bitter just chuckled. He took a breath and replied wisely, "Ponies are not as flexible as water. Cold is not flexible as well. Glaciers move incredibly slow, you will barely notice it in a normal lifetime. And so are the ponies here. They settled here long, long ago and the river would have destroyed all of their homes. I saved them with this mighty ice wall." Riptide did not seem too impressed with this answer. "I have seen villages come and go. It is only natural to change, even drastically", he responded. He looked Bitter straight in the eyes. "This village might need to change too. How long do you intend to pamper them, so they can just continue to live like that?" Bitter just slightly lowered his smile. Looking through the window, he tried again to convince the Guardian of the Sea of his own believes. "Harmony is found in stability and consistency. We cannot find a role in this world if it is constantly changing." Riptide twitched, then suddenly got up and made his way to the door. "I lost my appetite", he simply said and left the hut. Bitter Frost looked after him, sighed and continued with his soup. It was cold outside. The ice wall went around the village, leading the river down the mountains. Riptide was freezing, but jumped into the river again and swam down the stream to reach warmer waters.

I don't see any conflicts here - well, at least not until he is set free upon other ponies, which I'll love to see. He's in! -

If I may have a word in this, I too am uncomfortable with canon characters in roleplays, especially if they are from a different series. However, Equestria is known to have many mythological creatures and sorts, and maybe a Hedgehogman is also among them. It would be just more fitting to have a hedgehogman especially designed for the play - heck, even if created by the "rampaging mutations" or whatnot. In terms of food, the underground provides a vast variety of food sources, don't you know? Roots, mushrooms, insects, juicy minerals... What's not to like? -
searching The First Equestrian Academy of War
MonkeyPaw posted a topic in Everfree Planning, OOC & Discussion
~ The first decade after the founding of Equestria was a time of peace and harmony. After their homelands froze over, the ponies settled in the warm region and fought back the cold with love and harmony. Villages and cities were founded everywhere within the green, fertile land. The three pony races thrived during this time and the Council, a group of various leaders within the pony society, kept the peace within Equestrias borders. But the peaceful times would not last forever, or so thought the warleaders of the Pegasi and the Earthponies. With their combined effort they convinced the Council to fund their military. However, in the old days the main methods of fighting was mere melee combat with hooves and crude weapons hold in the mouth. To improve their chances against potential hostiles, the warleaders decided to build a War Academy to invent and test new weaponry. It is located not too far from the village Ironhill, a small village with iron and copper mines and thick forests. Materials will be available sufficiently. Inventors, smiths and soldiers are invited to the Academy to produce new fascinating equipment for the Equestrian Army! ~ || The Play || Equestria wants new equipment! Join the Academy as an Inventor, Smithy, Alchemist or Soldier (for testing purposes). If you desire, you can also be part of the Academy staff. You will eat, sleep and work at the Academy, creating and testing your work at day with the others. Exchange knowledge and create new weapons, armor, gadgets and thingamajicks for the Equestrian Army! The location will be the First Equestrian Academy of War, a small but efficient piece of architecture. It comes with forges, smelters, workshops, alchemy labs, testing grounds, storages, and even places to sleep and eat for free– if you cannot afford a room or house in the village. While you are free to work at your pace, be aware that the Academy Warden wants to see results or he will see YOU thrown out. || The Academy of War || The Academy can house nearly a hundred equine workers, soldiers and inventors. The Meeting Hall will be the place for announcements and meals. The Dormitory provides acceptable straw beds for everyone, but don’t expect to see the Warden or other Captains here. The “Blacksmith” houses over a dozen smelters and anvils for all metal needs, while the Workshop has everything for woodworks and tools for finer mechanics. The Training Room and Yard both have space for pony to pony combat and training dolls. The rest should be self-explanatory. The Forest around the Academy can be quite dangerous. Timberwolves still roam these forests and a brave stray wolf may find his way too close to the building. A cleared path leads to the village and is usually secure. The trees have been cleared in a large enough radius. The village itself provides housing, inns, a mine for iron and copper, and a forester. The materials are transferred to the storage in regular intervals, so expect carts coming from and going back to the village. || The Technology Level || The ponies settled Equestria over 10 years ago. Even though they are somewhat advanced in terms of literature, magic and architecture, their military level is rather low. They have copper armor and weapons, but they are hard to use. Usually ponies use long weapons with the power of one whole leg, which is unwieldy, or short weapons in their mouth, which is gross and unwieldy. It is your job to improve on that – either in a realistic way or in a somewhat wacky way. Just make it hurt the other guys or save the own guys and you are fine! || The Rules || Ponies only and no Alicorns – Xenophobia is what led to this project Have Malfunctions! – Not every time, but if you test something very new and experimental, it may not work on the first try If you have questions, just ask! This is the Pre-Sisters Era, keep that in mind! Unicorns still raise and lower the sun and mythical beasties are “everywhere” -

Good thing you are asking. What is the technology level in general? I suppose the rich and mighty have access to some more advanced stuff? -

Is there a reason why you link the same play on another forum 4 times? ; ) Don't know if that is okay here, but it is also none of my concern. I think I can reuse a character for this RP though! http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/monkey-paw-r6839 Occupation: Traveling Merchant Faction: Independent Wealth Status: Rather Poor -
The sun rose over the idyllic mountain village and soon the village was up on their hooves. Busy busy ponies gathered their tools and left the town to do their daily work. With these crude picks and hammers the ponies tried to mine ores and minerals from the mountains. On their way up to the mine they went past forests and rivers and an enormous ice wall. It was gently cracking and keeping the river away from the mines entrance. Even though the wall was extremely thick, the water level could be seen through the ice. Every day the eager miners passed the wall they had to raise their head to see it. On top of the wall two well known guardians were doing their duty. Bitter Frost was standing directly on the wall, raising his lamp to force ice into cracks and small holes creates by force and the suns heat. Here and there a splash of water raised to the damaged parts, but not naturally. Riptide danced slowly on the ice and his dance charmed the water to go where he pleases. He was shivering heavily and his rhythm was off balance. "I hate t... the cold you know", he yammered, but Bitter just chuckled. "Forgive me friend. I sadly cannot heat you up, but I really need your assistance. I am sure you will find a warm fire and a hot bowl of soup in the village afterwards." Riptide moaned again, but kept on dancing until the wall was perfect again.

ooc The Old Order of Harmony (Action/Adventure)
MonkeyPaw replied to Nameless Knight's topic in Everfree Planning, OOC & Discussion
Name: Riptide Element: Sea Age: 611 Gender: Male Earthpony Equipment: A special set of retractable fins for his lower legs and a helmet with a forward positioned spike. Appearance: Riptide has seaweed colored fur and a mane of starfish red. His eyes are smaller than usual and piercing yellow. His physique is small but muscular. Personality: He is rather two-sided. One the one side he is a happy and enthusiastic colt with joy for movement and the seas. However, he takes his guardian role seriously, and maybe too serious at times. He is easily angered and becomes quite vengeful to the disturbers of the sea. Younger than most guardians, he has not mastered all of his powers yet. They can turn out rather volatile. Notes: His own body is the medium for his powers. Think of it as waterbending choreography. -

Yes. If someone else wants to play Sea once the RP starts, I have no problem with "retiring" this role one way or another then. -

That's the thing: I'd do Sea as well, if you are fine with it. I just don't want this play to not start because we just lack one person. Give me your thumbs up and I create some fine Sea Pony, erm, guardian for you! -

I don't want to steal a spot in this RP from someone interested, but I'd volunteer to do two roles until someone suitable is found. I have lots of time for and experience with multiple characters. Just in case! -
planning Robots but not exactly
MonkeyPaw replied to The Living Otaku's topic in Everfree Planning, OOC & Discussion
Robot queens? Needs more Glados! Who replaces and how are limbs and parts replaced? It's understandably if you go a little bit nuts, but to really loose your biological consciousness, I suppose the brain needs to be replaced, allowing the Replacer to mess with your personality. So, the apparently good guys are the Replacers, but they will have most likely an own agenda. It also sounds a bit Dark Soulish, as in the progress of hollowing out. Nevertheless, I am in! -

Well that sounds interesting. Whenever I think about the old Elements, I have this pic in mind: http://ziom05.deviantart.com/art/The-Ancient-Elements-of-Harmony-330658121 . Let's see how this works out! : ) Name: Bitter Frost Element: Guardian of Snow Age: 1800ish Gender: Male Equipment: Lots of furs and cloths that protect his body. A 6 sided lamp with a light blue flame and slightly milky glass, that hovers next to him. Appearance: An ancient Pegasi with iron colored fur and marble colored mane. The mane is extremely long and forms a kind of beard around his head that reaches nearly down to his hooves. His tail is in a constant, untidy braid. His wings are slightly larger than regular wings, but seem very frail and dirty. His cutiemark is a double layered snowflake. Personality: His age is much more present on his personality than on other ponies. He reacts slow and is kind of comfortable with everything. He could be described as a gentle giant. He is hard to anger and does everything in small steps and his own pace. Once angered, he looses control over his skills, which can have severe consequences. Notes: The main source of his power is the Evercold Flame inside the lamp. It can absorb heat in a large radius. However, only he seems to have mastered it, for the flame would suck heat until everything turns into unmovable mass.
