Pic is a little hard to see, but it's a great piece, man. The eye really stands out in all those lovely dark blues and purples.

Just found out one of my favorite actors, Christopher Lee, died a few days ago. What a bummer. Now we'll never get to hear his epic Saruman voice again.

Since I'm getting foot surgery on July 7 and will be unable to walk the rest of the summer, I'm composing a sort of bucket list of fun things to do before then. This week I'm visiting a friend in Colorado, the next week I'll go camping, then fishing, and then walking to the park, and then hiking in Vedawoo, and then going to see pig wrestling, and then god dammit, why do so many things require walking?!

For the most part, I like my name. My middle is weird and unique, and my last is pretty standard and incredibly easy to type. But my real first name is Gwen. And that ain't short for anything, either. It ain't Gwendolyn or Guinneveire or anything fancy. Just Gwen. Now, let's think about the name Gwen. What do you picture when you think of Gwen? Probably Gwen Steffani. Maybe Guinneveire from Aurthurian legend. Maybe a redhead playing the violin (my friend's suggestion). In my opinion, Gwen is a confident and trendy name, and describes someone who is dynamic, interesting, and beautiful. I am none of these things, so I don't feel like I fit my name at all. Would I change it, though? I don't know.

I just made an insane spur-of-the-moment decision to go to Everfree Northwest in Seattle at the end of this week. Anypony else going?

So. I'm not going to BronyCon this year after all. I'm also going to have to quit my first job early, probably at the start of July. Why? Because I've got an extra bone in my feet, and I've got to get surgery to remove it. I'll be unable to walk for the greater part of this summer, and I'll be in a boot for months afterwards. Just goes to show that the best laid plans of mice and men get screwed up by stupid BS.

Just finished my first real day of work at Taco Johns. It was terrifying, challenging, intimidating, and I loved every second of it.

I like the orange palette the best because it goes best with her eyes, and for a name.... I'm trying to come up with chemistry terms that don't sound absolutely ridiculous in that capacity, but coming up blank. What if you incorporated the name of an element into her name? Like Cobalt Heart or Carbon Heart? Or something with Xenon, because that is pretty much the coolest element name on the table. Xenon... Tryst? Chemical terms would make for a very interesting and unique name, and there are a bunch that could work: Alkali, Anion, Colloid, Crystal, Photon, Vapor. If you could make a name that is equal parts "love" and "chemistry", I think it would really stand out.

This is probably just me being biased, but I don't like Celestia for a truly independent leader. She foisted a lot of her duties and crisis management on Twilight, and with her style of leadership, her flunkies would eventually screw up and the entire world would end or something. Twilight could roll with a few punches, but I don't think she has all the knowledge to deal with old enemies of Equestria who haven't popped up yet. There's a lot of national secrets she couldn't just get out of a book. Cadence would be absolutely useless in a crisis. She could unify and inspire her subjects during peace times, but she doesn't seem like she could make hard, potentially hurtful decisions or help her country in a war. Luna, though. She's kind of hard to relate to, but there's a certain harshness to her character that would help her be a firm ruler, and she's pretty hands-on. I mean, she came to Ponyville herself when she thought she wasn't liked, and she's rescued a few distressed subjects from their bad dreams. I think if her duties were extended she could really step up to the plate and totally rock as Queen Luna. -

I love her design, but I do wish she had been less of a stereotype. If I'd written her character, I would have made her more earnest and fresh-faced. A driven environmentalist.
