I find it odd how so many people are expecting the finale to be SOL just because the premiere was, I mean, according to Jim they made the decision in large part because they were still working hard on finishing 6 when they started 7 and didn't want to stretch themselves too thin, which is an odd reason because they always start new seasons when one is in development, but I don't see the s7 premiere being indicative of the finale. Especially considering the mlp #50-53 comic arc (which is supposed to tie into the show) left on a huge cliffhanger of who this "great darkness" would be.

Would love proof, when shows take themselves more seriously it usually leads to fan favorite episodes Star season 2 finale the Darker SU episodes Twilights Kingdom/ The Cutie Remark I don't want the show all together to be far more grimdark, but judging from what I have seen, you would rather all slice of life and lighthearted episodes, which I would want even less. The show as it is strikes a nice balance, but I think finales and premieres should stay 2 part epics.

Starlight being shoved down peoples throat
Drunkfrank replied to Firedog's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Lets see.. She was the antagonist for two of the two parters, and people liked that at the time, I guess Chrysalis is shoved down our throats as well? She was not the only central character in the season 6 premiere, Twilight shared a good deal of the screen time as well. She was not the only main character in the season 6 finale, that episode was dedicated to SECONDARY characters, I don't see how that was a bad thing at all. She has had 4 main roles in season 7, there have been 13 and she is not listed as a main character for nearly any of the new episodes up to 23. She is not forced down peoples throats, this fandom just sucks at accepting change and we are quick to rage out and be salty rather than try to look at things with a clear head.- 63 replies

Hmm, I believe Tartarus to be just that... the underworld where all ancient evils are imprisoned, well, the ones that can be, because lets be real, if they put Discord in there, he would wake up and probably just one shot Cerberus. Perhaps the ancient evil from the the #50-53 comic arc resides in Tartarus. Anyway, if Tartarus is equivalent to the greek mythology one. Hades pls.

Seeing some Starlight haters now say Starlight could easily defeat Celestia and Luna because of this episode SMH...Smh Anyway, based on an earlier comment, I think it is entirely possible that the "mysterious" alternate timeline from the Cutie Remark was Day Breaker coming and destroying everything that stood in her way.

S07:E01+02 - Celestial Advice/All Bottled Up
Drunkfrank replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 7 Discussion
What I liked about Celestial Advice is that it felt like an actual direct follow up to Where and Back again, it's not like S2 premiere to s3 premiere where it goes from huge terrible thing happening, then it feels like months pass and boom, another apocalyptic event. This felt like it happened just days later. As a standalone episode, it worked, Celestia development was great, the art stunning at times (go back to that shot of Celestia overlooking Canterlot, DAYUM) it was funny. All Bottled up was pretty good, funny, good dynamic with Starlight and Trixie. the song was catchy. 9/10 and 7/10 respectively 8/10 overall. -
S07:E01+02 - Celestial Advice/All Bottled Up
Drunkfrank replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 7 Discussion
People always say this. "The show USE TO have good disney writing, but now its crap" The show only had that Disney style writing in two parters and with the exception of this one, it has been almost the same. Sorry it wasn't edgy, they wanted to try something different, Season 2 had far more childish moments and episodes than season 6 did. "I feel it is the latter" It's not, The show has not objectively gotten worse or "lost it's charm" that's ridiculous, you are simply bored of it after like 7 years. -
Starlight threads always bring the best of people in. "Did you see that episode where she brain controlled the ponies, she is such a bad person!" Right, Twilight is such a Saint though...ZERO LESSONS TO BE LEARNED. People seem to think she should be caught up with Twilight by now, this is her first time really experiencing friendship. This was her season 1, and she did fairly decent at growth. Sorry, got semi off track. She isn't BEST friends with the mane6...shes friends with them, and that is shown well.

Dave Polsky Not Writing for Season 7
Drunkfrank replied to PinkiePie97's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Why would we want s1 writers, they would be all out of ideas... S6 wasn't the best, its like number 3 or 4 on my list, but most of the new writers did a good job easing themselves in. I mean, chances are the team who wrote Gauntlet of Fire will be writing the s7 finale. Which is awesome. In fact, the only writer I really miss is Merriwether Williams best writer evar -
Episodes that could have benefited from a re-write.

If you have a constant hard on for the mane 6 to be the center of everything all the time, than yes, it was the worst thing since un sliced cheese that is always stuck together. If you like seeing side characters grow and develop alongside the main cast, it was a great season. And really s6 is SO similar to season 2 the only thing keeping people from saying they are on par is rose tinted specs.

Why Hasn't Any Information About Season 7 Been Released?
Drunkfrank replied to Sly's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
"The show is far past it's prime" Not really, but okay. Every show I follow has less ratings now, because TV is dying, especially premium channels, everyone I know, everyone I ever talk to online, watches mlp online. It may not be in its prime anymore, but its not a huge decrease either, the prime was season 4. Season 6 is more akin to season 2 in terms of fandom popularity -

How do you rate the series as a whole?
Drunkfrank replied to zerox's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
You were upset Discord had a 4th wall esque Reference? That's dumb Faust show had references as well. Also, the show doesn't have any memes incorporated into it lol, unless you count EQG At OP 10/10, I have left these forums multiple times due to negativity, people ignore sometimes that for a childrens show, the writing is superb, the music is astounding, the animation is incredible.
