  1. Thank you for understanding exactly what I was trying to say. My intention was never to sling mud at Rarity, just propose a different perspective towards the argument set fourth by the topic. Nothing more. Also @Jeric, you have all the right in the Internet to disagree with my analysis, but let's not turn this into something personal by attacking what I do just because you disagree with something I said.
  2. Dear Esther is nice and sad. I love that game; not much in terms of game play (fairly short too), but the atmosphere and story are really what you play for.
  3. Actually, if you recall I never said anything about expectations. I was only giving a possible response to the question posed in the topic. Do any of these things matter to me in judging her overall character? Not really. All I did in that post was give examples to back my statement. Hell, rarity being selfish in Manehattan was a good thing; it showed her conflict with her element the way a good "key" episode should. Like it or not, those things did happen in the episodes (and rarities fascination with the jem wasn't just in the flashback, watch the episode again), and can be seen as selfish. Also, incase it wasn't clear I laugh at what happens in those episodes more than anything. It's a cartoon about technicolor ponies, we (analysts included) watch it to have fun, am I right?
  4. From an analytical standpoint, a particular fault to her character is just how noticeable it is when she does something wrong. Don't get me wrong, each character has their faults and strengths, and each has slipped up on their own element. However, generosity isn't necessarily hard to portray: give of yourself without expecting anything in return. This was used incredibly well in Friendship is Magic Pt. 1+2 where she cuts off her tail to help a complete stranger. So when we see her go against it and instead conform to a "prissy pampered princess" mentality it's jarring. That's not to say generosity is easy; in comparison something like Honesty and Kindness are fairly simple gestures. Generosity is however, a selfless act: and when we see a selfless element behaving selfishly the contrast is hard not to notice. Some examples: Ticket Master: trying to persuade twilight to give her the ticket for a reason not including hanging with the pony who gave her the ticket (though let's be honest, all 5 of them did this). COMPLETELY FORGETTING WHY SHE WAS IN CLOUDSDALE IN SONIC RAINBOOM (really?!). Green isn't your color: (This one is a bit of a stretch, but funny when you think about it) Pushing Flutter Shy to do something she didn't want to do so she could later sell more designs by saying "my best friend is a famous model". Sisterhooves Social: Even after she came to her realization she was being too hard on her sister, she still only want's do do things she want's to do instead of asking her sister. Sweet and Elite: Do I even need to list it? It's the backdrop of the entire episode. She still got her epiphany at the end but if a friend of mine was pulling the same thing she did behind my back I'd be livid. Secret of my Excess: Yes, spike gave her his birthday present, selflessly. Course it only happened after rarity showed a lot more than a fascination with that rock. MMMystery on the Friendship Express: Yes, because taking a big bite out of your friend's cake which she is responsible for and probably slaved over because "you made it sound so good" is the most generous scenario I can think of! [implied sarcasm] Crystal Empire 1 + 2: THERE ARE CRYSTAL PONIES?!?! Sleepless in Ponyville: 2 words: Sweaty Belle. Just For Sidekicks: Spike gives his Fire Ruby selflessly in Secret of My Excess, but she gives him a sliver of a ruby for babysitting her psychotic cat. Rarity Takes Manehattan: The Sweatshop of Friendship... and guilt-trips. Admittedly, the number of these do not outweigh the number of scenes of generosity, however as I stated before to see the element of generosity become selfish, not just with material things but also with her friends, it really is a stark contrast.
  5. Angry Orchard so far is a favorite, though I did try a local brew a week ago that really caught my attention, just wish I remembered the name.
  6. Let's keep the ball rolling with another artist who, admittedly is at least somewhat well known in North America, Infected Mushroom This is a group from Israel who's sound (according to a live-sound engineer I know) is inspired by the audio-hallucinations experienced when taking a magic mushroom that has been infected by a mold. Looking at that album artwork, it really wouldn't surprise me if that turned out to be true.
  7. Let's face it, there are A LOT of musical artists out there. True, some are better than others, but the really great ones don't always get the recognition they deserve, sometimes even getting passed up for artists more interested in fame and money than making good music. That's what this topic is for, to share some of the under-appreciated musicians you've found over the years. I'll start with one of my favorite artists I found during middle-school, VNV Nation: I've yet to find an artist that sounds anything like these guys, drawing influence from multiple genres. I've only met a handful of people in North America who've even heard of them, let alone appreciate their unique sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk4gZEAmOLk All genre's welcome, bony artists included. (Suggested 1 example per post)
  8. If they are anything like horns from mammals here, the horn is likely Keratin/Proteins surrounding a live bone. So in this instance, one might be able to re-attach it surgically, or if just the tip was broken it would grow back. This may also support evidence provided by HereComesTom:
  9. Curry. So many different types for carnivores, vegetarians, vegans, and all degrees of spice. Just wish I could eat it more often
  10. I'd personally say Limbo. Fairly simplistic platformer with a dark tone and puzzles requiring you to act fast and think. Though Admittedly it's not really a "horror" game, more like a dark indie title. For real scary stuff, I suggest either Amnesia: The Dark Descent/A Machine For Pigs, or Five Nights At Freddy's (WARNING: EXTREMELY CREEPY AND TERRIFYING!!!).
  11. A.R.E.S. or, what I like to call "the-closest-thing-to-a-spiritual-successor-to-megaman-x-without-being-megaman-x"
  12. Not just beautiful blends of 2D and 3D animation, but a beautiful film in general that has to be Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence. One word on it's animation: Detail. This is only one of many beautiful shots of the locations in the film, and it should be noted that the dialogue is incredibly rich and the action enjoyable.
  13. So I'll just leave the link to the story on FiMFiction here and if you want to read it on this forum, I'll post it in a spoiler. Birth of Nightmares on FiMFiction.net Comments are appreciated on the FiMFiction page
  14. VNV Nation - Standing I find a lot of Anthemic music to be more catchy than any Pop song I've listened to. I wonder if that means something's wrong with me?
  15. Admittedly I have not done one yet. However, I have filmed and edited one for a friend and fellow analyst: And seeing as he nominated me, I have one I need to do. In the mean time, enjoy what I got so-far.
  16. These same "Self Hypnosis" files are also prevalent in the Furry and Therian communities for a variety of species. I've experimented with them, they are harmless fun. The hypnosis puts you into a relaxed state and causes you to have physical sensations which when combined with the instruction during a state of trance can make it feel like your changing into something. It should be noted that you won't get hypnotized if you don't want to, the experience is completely subjective and based on what you actually want out of it.
  17. Just saw the new Sin City movie. Gave me a lot of answers for stuff from the first, and left me with a few more questions, enough to make me want another one.

    1. DragonKing235
    2. M'aiq the Liar

      M'aiq the Liar

I thought bruce willis being a ghost again was rather funny.

    3. Misty Rose

      Misty Rose

I really want to see it so bad xD

  18. So, I'm a bit of a major tech geek, went to school for programming, built my own Linux and Windows machines, studying for A+ certs, etc. I noticed over the years that everyone's computer/work station is different, often an extension of themselves. I've seen people game on massive machines, make beautiful artwork on nothing but a tablet, and build ridiculous setups from a single laptop that rivals some desktops. Here's mine: Admittedly, my initial setup is for multimedia since I do YouTube videos. However I do everything from coding, to pitiful attempts at art, writing fiction, and high-end gaming on the PC (right). The Ubuntu Linux machine (Left) was built from all the parts I replaced as I upgraded the PC (eventually getting to the point where I could re-built the original build, adding in a mid-grade ATI graphics card for good measure), and the MacBook Pro I've had since 2012. My location is because A) there is decent sound proofing so I can work during the night and not wake anyone else, and access to the router via Ethernet cable.
  19. I'd probably be an Antihero, basically still doing [mostly] good things, but going about it my own way.
  20. I like them, except when they cut the power. But here's a little something I found online that I love to set an atmosphere: A Rain Sound Generator
  21. I could go into a really long drawn out post about how I came to the realization that I did, my experimentation, and heartfelt stories of discovery and sharing secrets. But really this serves only to delay what you could have probably just guessed from reading the last line of this post. Seriously? Why don't you go there now? Do it, your wasting your time reading the rest of this paragraph. Do it now, skip over to the end and find out what all this pointless buildup is supposed to amount to. I like men :I
  22. I love meat, it's tasty However, I have found myself eating more Vegetarian dishes at restaurants due to some stomach complications that popped up a few months ago (harder something is to digest, worse the problems got). If I had to go on a short-term Vegetarian diet, I wouldn't have any objections (especially if it will help heal my stomach issues)
