  1. I had preordered Alpha Protocol when I first saw the trailers for it since it looked really good, and when it came out it had terrible reviews. But, I owned a copy of it because of the preorder, so I begrudgingly started it up one day and discovered that it was severely underrated. It's actually one of my favorite games of all time, and I hate how much negative feedback the game received. I think that killed any chance it has for a sequel.
  2. I'm studying Environmental Science at St. Vincent College. I was on my own for a while working in the real world, and found myself spending lots of time in the wilderness when I wasn't working. I realized that I really loved being outdoors, and it's something I want to protect.
  3. I once mistook a vitamin pill for a chewable tablet. It was absolutely horrible, and I strongly recommend reading the label clearly before taking any supplement.
  4. If there are multiple items on my plate, I will typically eat all of one of them, then all of the next, and so on until there's nothing left. My best friend watched with fascination once as I did this, then said that it was really annoying.
  5. Home is where one can be oneself.

  6. Yes, it helps show my enthusiasm, and it feels good when I can be open about it without receiving negative feedback. I attended Bronycon for the first time this year, and since then I've opened up about my love for the show with my friends and family. Unfortunately, while most of the reactions were either positive or neutral, my younger sister reacted very negatively, and wouldn't allow me to even talk about it, so I can sympathize with your situation, albeit to a lesser extent. Personally, I think that it's better to explore and protect one's personal identity than it is to please other people's opinions of who you should be, so I'm not going to stop being open about it on account of her negative reaction. Like I said, most people I told either took it well or didn't really care one way or the other. I'm not at the point where I display merchandise in a public setting which is obviously referencing the show, although I do wear a couple of discrete t-shirts and have a Derpy cutie mark decal on my laptop (my way of discretely finding other bronies). Even those inconspicuous items feel good to show off.
  7. The PA Department of Revenue finally cleared up my tax issue. Due to a mistake on my return, they thought I owed them $731. I should be receiving my $4 refund in 3-4 weeks.

  8. Does anyone else think it's a bit of a tease how the packaging always shows the character in a Generation 4 style, but the figures themselves are modeled after a previous generation?
  9. If you want someone to visit for longer than they say they will, you need to show them hospitality. How difficult is it to grasp this concept?

  10. This is probably the weirdest thread to which I've ever responded. And the answer is absolutely.
  11. I'm currently reading The Possessed by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I really love his novels; I've read Crime and Punishment, The Idiot, The Brothers Karamazov, and Notes from Underground. They're all really philosophical and deep, not to mention engrossing. I got through about 200 pages of this one on the train rides to and from Bronycon, which is reason enough to take the train.
  12. This whole thread is awesome. I love M. A. Larson's approach to signatures; I'll have to get his autograph next year.
  13. My parents just found out about me being a brony, since my mom called me while I was at Bronycon to see how I was doing. I said I was in Baltimore at a convention, and she said "Ok, what kind of convention is it this time?" She's gotten pretty used to it at this point. I doubt either my mom or dad would ever become bronies, but it's nice to know they're not upset about it. My mom found some negative things online, but I assured her that they were exaggerated, if not completely false, and based on my own experience at the convention, I can say with confidence that any misgivings I may have had about the fandom are just that - either baseless or highly exaggerated. It feels good to be open about the things I love.
  14. I had the misfortune of accidentally disturbing a hornet nest this afternoon. Thankfully, I had the good sense to bolt from the nest immediately, and only got stung twice.

  15. It's amazing what incredible things can manifest from a children's cartoon show. It feels great to be a part of such a wonderful fandom.

    1. Monsoon

      Monsoon

Yep it was unexpected until everyone gave in to curiosity and watched it

    2. Silver Echo

      Silver Echo

Indeed, even though I still feel alone within the fandom.

  16. Leaving for Baltimore tomorrow. Feeling really nervouscited.

  17. The original Deus Ex. Some people say it hasn't aged well, but I still come back to it again and again, and it's only grown on me. The depth of the story, combined with the well crafted, diverse gameplay, and all of the different paths your character can traverse combine to make what I consider to be the best game ever made. Of course, I'm also a sucker for anything cyberpunk, so my opinion might be a bit biased.
  18. Quoth the raven: "wakka wakka wakka."
  19. Fozzie Bear, of course! Also, this little guy:
  20. Aw, no! I saw him in person a couple of years ago during a showing of They Live! at the Trocadero in Philly. He was so awesome, and was just amazed that the audience kept cheering during the movie when something cool happened. A local bakery had made him a They Live! themed cake complete with sunglasses, which he was absolutely thrilled about. Best picture I can find of it:
  21. I just started playing System Shock 2 for the first time. Not sure if I'm doing it right, but ammo seems to be a precious commodity. Also, I would kill for a flashlight.
  22. In March, I got a drafting commission from one of my old customers from when I was working for a steel company. He needed me to prepare drawings for a four story steel fire escape to replace the old wooden structure. One night, I finished my work for the evening and went to make a backup on my external hard drive. I was very tired, and in my drowsiness, managed to delete all of my work from my laptop's hard drive before I copied it to my external drive. Then I realized what had happened and started panicking. It had been a while since I backed up my data, and the difference between my laptop's copy and the one on my external drive was 24 hours of work. To my credit, I didn't utter a single swear, just a long series of "no, no, no, no, no, no, no..." I then spent every day working on it for hours just to catch up to where I was (while taking 17 credits worth of college courses, doing work-study, and being active in clubs). From that point on, I backed up my work after every single session. The project is finally done, now, and I spent 172 hours on it altogether (excluding the lost 24 hours).
  23. I call her Minuette; I think that's what she's called in the Gameloft app, too.
  24. I'm imagining the most evil person inside the body of a real life pony (from our world), and I'm having a hard time keeping myself from laughing. But no, I would not support the evil pony.
  25. I'm really tired of the remakes of movies that were successful when they first came out. I absolutely refuse to see Jurassic World. Also, all of these movies that are being made to capitalize on nostalgia, like Jem and the Holograms. I've also been becoming more and more wary of films that are hyped up because they're really pretty. Avatar was just a sci-fi Dances with Wolves (Dances with Smurfs), and I hated all but about ten minutes of Interstellar. Give me some good ol' 2001: A Space Odyssey. I feel like I'm becoming a grumpy old man. :okiedokielokie:
