  1. I second the PS3 Tales games, as well. I think Xillia 2 is my favorite of them, but you have to play the first one first.

I would also suggest Child of Light and the Atelier series (Rorona, Totori, Meruru, and Escha&Logy). I also tell everyone to play Valkyria Chronicles, but you said you're not big on strategy games. It puts a little different spin on strategy/tactical games as compared to say Disgaea, so maybe check out a gameplay video (early levels so you don't spoil yourself!) and see if you'd like it.

  2. Hi all, I just finished Fairy Fencer F. I'm gonna write a review up for the website I work at, but I was curious if anyone else played it and what they thought of it. Here's a link to NIS America's site about the game for those who aren't sure what it is: http://nisamerica.com/games/fairyfencerf/

Gameplay wise, it seemed like a lot of other Compile Heart games because it used the same engine, but I thought it was designed a little better. The fighting system seemed better than Hyperdimension Neptunia, though it was mostly just a re-skin of the Neptunia system.

I think what impressed me most was that they showed they could write a better story than I thought. Now, I like Neptunia, Agarest War, and yes, even Cross Edge, but the story telling was rarely that strong of a feature in those games. While there were still some flaws, I feel like they tried to tell something a little more mature and developed this time.

    What did you guys think?

  3. While ADV isn't around per se, they do still exist as all those smaller companies split up like Seraphim, Section 23, Sentai Filmworks, etc. As Adam Sheehan from Funimation put it, "ADV isn't out of business. ADV did remaster itself, as you might call it, and change itself into multiple different companies (Section 23, etc.), holding different parts of its brands, of its marketing, so [it's] still around...the best way I would describe it is to think of it as Voltron. if it turned back into the five lions, so its not the one Voltron robot anymore, so the ADV logo is no longer around, but the lions and all the properties are still around."

To my knowledge, part of their downfall came from over-extending themselves with manga licenses in the years leading up to the dissolution of ADV. They got hit hard when the manga bubble burst, like Central Park Media, Tokyopop, etc. On the anime side, they did have a few shows that showed regularly on TV like Monster Rancher and Rurouni Kenshin, but none that had seriously long runs. I'm not sure that Sgt. Frog would have "saved" them anyway with the severe contraction that occurred in the market, not that their current situation is terrible, either.

  4. I used to be good at the original Unreal Tournament, but something happened and I just suck at them nowadays. I know part of it is practice, since I don't play that often, but a lot of my friends love FPSes, so I endure getting thumped by them once in a while to make them happy. We even created an account named "Decoy" on my friend's 360 for me to use when we played Halo games together.

  5. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Twilight Sparkle

How did you find MLP Forums?: My best friend Cloud Yeller sent me a link the other day, and I finally got around to joining.

How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Surfing around on 4chan, my friend and I saw all sorts of pictures from the early episodes. We decided to check out the show on a whim after that and both really enjoyed it and have been watching ever since.

I'm a Ph.D. student at Columbia University. I used to live in Gainesville, Florida, but I just moved to New York for my program. I also run and write for a video game and anime site in my spare time, and I'm working on getting some voice acting roles courtesy of some friends here in Manehattan.

I first got into MLP when I was little because I watched My Little Pony Tales with my cousins and then kind of forgot about it for a long time. I enjoy Friendship is Magic a lot, but I'm really shy about letting most people know about it. Pretty much just a few close friends know at this point, but I have a baseball cap with Twilight's cutie mark that I wear from time to time as a nod to fellow Bronies.
