  1. Hey everypony! If you're out of stuff to do on Day Zero (Thursday the 13th) of the con and appreciate some fine grub, why not meet up with other forum-using congoers at Max's Restaurant and Bar, a great diner within short walking distance from the Hyatt? We'd meet up at around 3 PM and all eat together, so if this sounds like something you'd enjoy, I hope you can make it on Thursday!

  2. Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

  3. I hope we get a proper Star Wars RPG set in the Galactic Civil war. I'm just really not that into the TOR timeline, and I don't feel like a Clone Wars setting would mesh well with an MMO. Hopefully Visceral makes something worthwile.

  4. I mean, there's always the obvious like Bonham and Ward, but there's two that are lesser known (okay maybe not the first) that I'm a really big fan of.

    DAVE GROHL

For some reason that continues to escape me, I cannot stand the Foo Fighters yet I feel like anything this man drums on turns to gold. He's most well known for bashing the sticks in Nirvana, however he's also drummed for the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Lemmy, and, my personal favorite, Queens Of The Stone age. He also played drums in Them Crooked Vultures, a supergroup consisting of him on drums, Josh Homme of the previously mentioned Queens Of The Stone Age, and even more notably John Paul Jones on Bass.

Quick note: the guy on vocals here is actually Mark Lanegan from Screaming Trees himself.

    JON THEODORE

The label "Modern day Bonham" gets tossed around a ton, but I'd argue that nobody is more deserving of the label than Jon Theodore. He's most famous for his work with The Mars Volta, a Prog Rock band formed in 2001, and has more recently become the touring drummer for the aforementioned Queens Of The Stone Age. What sets him apart from all the other modern day bonzos is his jazzy, technical playing style. He himself said that he grew up listening to Hatian folk music played by his dad, and that the drum beats from there really left a mark on his playing style, which is very noticeable in any TMV record with him on it.

  5. So the rumor about the reason for the Xbox Scorpio wait is that they're waiting until Zen and Vega come out, which would make the 6TFLOP figure believable.

Anyway, back on topic, I might actually get one of these over the summer next year since I'm curious to see if the new Gran Turismo ends up being any good.

EDIT: Also, am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with the design?

  6. I think many people are having problems relating to the autistic because certain online communities (you know the one I mean) have made it 'trendy' to claim that you're suffering from one or more mental illnesses, or to self-diagnose based on the most tenuous criteria in order to gain higher standing in a community that embraces the dreaded 'special snowflake' syndrome.

Many of these people don't bother to even research the illnesses they are falsely claiming to suffer from and will describe symptoms that are not associated with the condition they are trying to describe.  This creates problems for both genuine sufferers and non-sufferers alike, causing non-sufferers to have inaccurate misconceptions of what these conditions entail, and also causing genuine sufferers to be met with skepticism or even outright disbelief because the condition being described does not match their preconceptions.

The people doing these things probably think that they are engaging in nothing more than a bit of harmless one-upmanship, but they don't think about the problems that they are causing for the people who genuinely have to deal with these conditions not just online, but in the real world, every day.

Way to make everything about your agenda!

  7. I noticed on her Wikipedia page that it says she is a feminist. "Not to be confused with SJW(Social Justice Warriors) feminist".

But considering the bad reputation feminism has gotten lately. I am just curious to what you think?

Nothing, but then again, I don't really think highly of antifeminism either.

  8. I don't plan to see it, but from the trailer, I don't think I'd want to, looks to me like poorly done humor. Also Melissa McCarthy keeps popping up in a lot of movies lately and frankly she's not a good actress. I saw Tammy with my mother last year and that was terrible. The movie was unfunny, and I cringed a lot during some of the scenes, particularly the one where she robs a Burger King with a paper bag on her head and hand. It was extremely awkward to watch.

Metacritic is the worst place to get feedback on a movie. The user reviews are a joke that should not be taken seriously and honestly, metacritic would be better off without. People will give games and movies 0s and 1s, when in reality they probably deserve a 5 or 6, and on the other end, people score things with 10s, and they honestly don't deserve them. Nothing in media is good enough to deserve a perfect 10. Seriously, take a close look at a lot of the reviews on that site.

I meant the legitimate critic scores.

  9. Am I the only one who, 9 out of 10 times, would rather listen to Nirvana or Queens Of The Stone Age [band Dave has drummed for on a few occasions, check them out if you haven't already] than FF? Those 2 bands have a more raw, "unfiltered" feel that I just never seem to get out of FF no matter what album I listen to.
