I don't care about people using derogatory words. I mean, words drop in and out of existance all the time, they don't have any power beyond that which you give them. It's our reactions that make them taboo so why not just ignore them. Yes, it's the persons intent that's in the wrong and not the word itself but if their lexis didn't provoke a response, they likely wouldn't use them.
Also, I support parents being able to hit their children. Not hard obviously and only when truly needed but I was struck as a child and it kept me in check moreso than other measures like my parents throwing away my toys. I believe it to be because I was shocked but didn't resent it (leading me to rebel), it dealt with the problem quickly and it also didn't leave me with a lasting issue (Like losing something I cared about [my mum burned all my manga which was well over 40 books]).
