Most forms of pony media have dedicated websites. Fanfics have Fimfiction, music has Pony.fm (and YouTube), and art has DeviantArt. Even though some of those might not be dedicated websites in some cases, there are still very strong pony subcommunities within them. However, there is one medium that has no real dedicated distribution network: games!
Although flash games can be played on DeviantArt, there's no site that is: A, dedicated to the MLP fandom, and, B, that allows for downloadable games. Also, DeviantArt is not intended to be used as a games website, and as such is not ideal at all for the use case.
Would there be interest in a website that addresses the needs I've outlined? I have the skill to make it, but I don't want to spend the time and money unless people would use it.
Ideally, it would be like a mix of GameJolt, itch.io, and Kongregate but with ponies. At the start, it would have the capability to host downloadable games as well as have web games playable on the site (Flash, HTML5, Unity, and maybe Java are what come to mind). There would be rudimentary social features (keep in mind this is the first version!), and probably a basic API.
Further on, there would be far improved social system, a fancy API with achievements, saves, and an interface for said social features. There would probably be a donation system and maybe a way to pay for games.
So what do you think? Bronies, would you use a site like this? Devs, would you upload your games to it? Please keep in mind that this is just a proposal, and share your opinions! This could be cool!
