  1. Out of all the characters from the Mass Effect Trilogy, Garrus was my instant favorite from the first installment (it also helped that the turians were my favorite race). He was an arrogant hothead at times, but also had the skills and expertise to back up such bravado, even using these said skills to play vigilante for a short time. The conversations and dialogue options that were possible with him throughout the course of the series were also memorable and simply added to the charm of an already likable character.
  2. I’m Garrus Vakarian and this is now my favorite spot on the internet!

  3. So, two people holding unicorn pop tarts are riding a burrito kitty into the sunset, trailed by a rainbow. Yep, seems like another normal day to me. In all honesty, I do love the absolute randomness of this that I feel it may even give Discord a run for his money. Very nice job with this, as it certainly made me smile.
  4. Not a problem! I just wanted to be sure that your thread was in the proper section, as Creative Resources is the best area to post if you are seeking help or advice on any sort of creative project, and that it gets the attention it deserves. Good luck and take care!
  5. After testing it myself in my profile, the Verdana font seems to have worked fine in my test. I am rather curious what could be casuing the issue for your profile, as I find that rather strange. I know this is a common question for technical advice threads, but what browser are you running the forums on?
  6. When someone wishes to seek support and advice for such issues that are involved in the Life Advice section, it is important to make that section as accessible and as easy to locate as possible and I feel that such a change would be a grand step in the right direction. Coupling this with an added focus on the Life Advice section due to the recent policy change on certain status updates and blogs makes such an idea worth serious consideration in my eyes. Thank you Peachie for bringing this suggestion up, as I do feel it may be a very benefical change to look into and one that will help utilize that section to its fullest potential. After all, we all want what is best for each other, to support and encourage, and this is one way to help make that happen.
  7. Mighty impressive for this to be done with your finger. And she just looks so cute! What was your brother's reaction when he discovered this little gem that you left for him?
  8. Wow, I did not realize that it has been so long since I last posted something here. Certainly feels like ages, but still...need to post more! Anyway, not much to show this time around, just a few bust sketches of the Apple Family (and Pinkie, of course). Still much to be desired, but I think they turned out decently enough though despite how messy it looks. As always, feel free to share your thoughts and advice. I know these are not perfect, so don't be shy!
  9. Since a thread already exists for this line of discussion, I have gone ahead and merged your thread with that one. In the future, please be sure to utilize the search function to see if the idea you have for a thread already exists before creating a new. This helps to keep the forums a bit tidier while avoiding any possible confusion that multiple threads can cause. Take care!
  10. Hello ! Just so you are aware, I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section as you are seeking voice actors for an ongoing project and I feel your thread would receive more reception there. Best of luck to you wish this and take care!
  11. Just so you know , I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section as you seem to be seeking input and advice on the general critique on your writings rather than posting a story. As it has already been said, one cannot be a hesitant when it comes to receiving critiuqe, as it is a vital part of growing as an artist. It is nearly a necessity to seek such input from others, as there are times that they will be able to pick up errors that you may have overlooked or were not able to distinguish prior. However, the aim of such constructive comments is not to discourage and create in the quality of your work, but to help guide you in a direction toward improvement and build upon your work and skills. You just have to maintain an objective outlook when it comes to critque, considering what you can from these remarks and apply them to future works. Your readers do not wish to hurt you, but only want to see you grow so that they can enjoy more of your stories and writings in the future.
  12. It still leaves much to be desired, but it is a start: http://mlpforums.com/topic/102183-tutorial-and-reference-resource-center/

  13. This topic does not contain artwork that was created by the topic owner. Octavia's Hall is a place for showing off artwork and other creative mediums that you, the poster, have made. Memes, pony generator images, artwork that was not created by the thread owner and alike do not belong in this forum. They are significantly more suitable being posted in places such as status updates, blogs or the forum lounge.
  14. Hello @PonyFan101! Just so you know, I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section, as it would be more appropriate there since you are seeking input and advice on a creation of yours. Best of luck with the name search and take care!
  15. The only rational explanation behind Twilight's crush towards Flash is that he was the first human that she really interacted with, albeit a very brief exchange. One could say that this held some sort of significance for Twilight, as he was the first helping hand she received upon entering the human world. Beyond that though, I will agree that he is a rather underdeveloped and somewhat cliche' character that was simply added for the minor love interest. If they had taken the time to flesh him out a bit further, they could have had a more compelling reason for his existence. However, I hold no issue with the any of the Mane 6 having some sort of romantic relationship in the series, so long as it is executed well. There has to be some sort of nature progression in such relationships, to give the presence of some sort of chemistry between these character, to make such a thing more tangible and believable to the viewer.
  16. It is quite alright! Just to clarify, Octavia's Hall is a designated section where members can display their own personal and artistic creations for other members to view, comment upon and enjoy while the posting of other people's work (even with their permission) is not permitted there. Sugarcube Corner, on the other hand, deals with anything within the Brony fandom that you would like to share with the community, including other people's fan works and projects that you feel are worth sharing with the rest of the community. I do hope that helps and has cleared up any confusion, though do feel free to message me if you have any further questions. I am actually surprised that I have never watched this series, as I do enjoy the portal games and adding ponies to the mix should make for quite an entertaining display. I may just have to sit down and take a look at this, if it is as good as you say.
  17. This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.
  18. It is a rather shame that there is not more work done of Apple Bloom around here, as she as just as adorable as the rest of the CMC. I have said it once and I will say it again that I always love to see how a piece progresses with each new attempt, and this is no exception. While viewing each one side by side, there is quite a noticeable difference between your original and this redone version, as the lines are a bit smoother and the drawing itself is much cleaner overall. Of course, there is always room for improvement, but it is quite a leap you have taken between the two and you should be quite proud of that. Kudos! The one thing I would be aware of is the general anatomy, as the neck seems a bit too long as well as the body being rounder than it should be. Other than that, I feel that these two pieces are fine examples of your first try at the digital medium and if you choose to continue with it, I know you will only get better with time. Though I prefer more traditional mediums for several reasons, I have also seen absolutely gorgeous and amazing examples of what can be done with a digital canvas. But so long as you are enjoying the time you spend on art and drawing, you cannot go wrong with either one; it simply comes down to preference and comfort. Just keep up the good work and I do hope to see more soon! By the way, you mentioned that you used a touch screen to draw this, correct? I was rather curious if you simply used your finger or did you have a stylus on hand to use?
  19. The subject of this topic has little potential to spark discussion between many members and, as such, would be better suited to a status update or a blog. When creating a thread, please remember that the goal is to start a conversation with room for many people to chime in and give their own viewpoints on, and that sharing events of an anecdotal nature would be better done elsewhere.
  20. Do not even get me started on the spoilers! Embarrassingly enough, that aspect took me far longer than it should have to make it work properly. It is amazing what chaos a missing '/' from a spoiler tag can cause. And I cannot see the forum needing a lead artist, but it is quite a nice thought nonetheless. Regardless, thank you very much for your kind words! Though I know there is still much to be added and improved upon (the thread itself looks a bit dull, for starters, so I that will need a nice make-over) but I am hoping to build up a respectable amount of resources for this. Only time will tell, right? I do have a few tutorials on both line work and color theory, though not as large of a collection as I would like. However, I will be more than happy to remedy that and post what I can. Just out of curiosity, do you mainly work with traditional mediums or digital, as tutorials may vary depending on your preference. Either way, I will be sure to find suitable references for both but I just want to be sure that you can get the most out of this, as you asked first. And thank you again! I can fully relate to the perfectionist aspect, as I consider myself one as well; I will literally drive myself rather mad if I believe that a line is just slightly out of place and before long, I end up erasing half of my drawing. But I have slowly begun to learn that art and drawing does not require absolute perfection and there is always room for specific interpretations and exaggerations (to an extent, of course). That is half the fun of drawing is that you though is to do something that cannot be seen in real life, and it adds that much more life and dynamic to your work. But I do hope that you find some use in this when you do decide to try your hand at some art. Be sure to post your work when you do, as I would love to see it!
  21. I have not had the chance to read your stories as of yet, but have you considered submitting them to the Authors Helping Authors thread? Not only would your stories receive a bit more attention and exposure, but that thread is also a great resource to use if you are seeking critique and advice to help improve upon your writing.
  22. Just so you are aware , I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section, as that would be the most appropriate place when seeking assistance or advice for an ongoing project. I do wish you the best of luck, as the concept you have presented sounds quite interesting. Take care!
  23. Now there is a character I have not seen for a while and I think you did quite a nice job with this one. And the way L's hair is, I think you made the right choice by using him for hair drawing practice; it is as though he has permanent bed head or something. The only thing I see that is a tad off are the eyes, as the one on the left is a bit too small in comparison the the one on the right. Otherwise though, nicely done with this one. Now you just have to draw Light!
  24. This thread appears to be some manner of random (but strangely enjoyable) nonsense, or something spammy of the sort. Thus, it has been sentenced to the Forum Lounge section of Cloudsdale Colosseum.
  25. No matter what level you are as an artist, such a journey towards improvement need not be a solitary one and is far more enjoyable and fulfilling with the company and support of others. Some create art as a hobby and recreation while others wish to make it a profession, but no matter which you may fall under, all of us do it because we find joy and pleasure in the simple act as well as improve upon our skills. This is one reason I feel that Octavia’s Hall here can be such a valuable resource on the forums for aspiring artists, no matter what medium you choose to express your artistic creativity, as it gives everyone a chance to share their work with their fellow members and gain valuable insight and advice on how to improve and grow. In an effort to build upon Octavia’s Hall to make progress toward this goal as well as assist these budding artists in spending less time looking for resources and more time drawing, that is where this little thread comes into the picture. Essentially, I wish to build a library of sorts, because we can never have too many of those! In here, I hope to provide a diverse array of tutorials, references and other such resources, categorized by subject and skill level, for easy and convenient access all of those that are interested. To me, anyone and everyone has the ability to draw, write, create music or create any sort of art imaginable; it is not some mystical gift or talent that is bestowed upon a few individuals by the alignment of the stars or any such nonsense. It simply takes time, practice, support and, this is quite important, having fun to help foster and bolster a creative individual. It is my hope that this little project of mine will at least help those in that regard, or at least help them learn something new and build upon their skills. But one person cannot do this alone, as there is a nearly infinite pool of wealth out there, which is where you come in. If you find a tutorial, reference or resource that you feel would be a great addition to this collection or if you have a suggestion to make operations run smoother or easier around here, please feel free to either PM me or leave a comment! As with every other threads on the forums, all posts must adhere to the Global Rules (no excessive blood/gore, vulgarity or any other NSFW content, no advertising, etc.) so please keep this into consideration when suggesting new materials to be added. I would also ask that if you do provide a proposed tutorial, please try to provide the name of the artist whom created it. This is not entirely necessary, but I would love to give the artists credit where credit is due (and I know I have failed to do this thus far, though I do hope to remedy this soon). I am hoping to add additiona tutorials and sections (including sculpture, music, plushie building and other mediums if possible) over time goes by, so I do ask for your patience until everything is initially set up. I know there is a lot of room for improvement here, which will take some time. Until then, please excuse the chaos around here, leave any suggestions or thoughts you may have and enjoy!
