  1. In the spirit of Friendship Is Magic, I was wondering if anyone here has some stories about friendship that they're fond of, and if they would share it.

For example, I have one that I'm very fond of telling. It's about how I met one of my best mates, the strangest but nicest friend I've ever had:

He came to the same school as me in grade 11, one day. He seemed a bit quiet at first, and then we got on really well, and I found out that he had a weird but awesome sense of humour. He eventually told me that he got expelled from this other school, which is why he came to mine. I won't go into detail about how he got expelled, but by Celestia's light, it is an expelled-from-school story that I could almost guarantee would put any you have heard to shame. It was a prank that he and his friend did that spiralled out of control, and RUINED the honeymoon of a couple from overseas, to the point where they had to spend a week in quarantine before they could go home. Yeah, that bad.

They got in trouble with the police, and my mate got expelled. He said that he's never been so ashamed in his life. He's not a bad guy, he's super cool, but yeah that was his biggest mistake ever.

So he's crashing at my place for the night one time, and he said "but dude, if I had the opportunity to go back and stop myself from doing it, I wouldn't take it. I would let myself do it."

So I said "…I dunno, it was pretty bad, dude."

"No dude, honestly I would let myself do it. For one simple reason. And do you what that reason is?"

"…'Cause that's how you met me?"

"'Cause that's how I met you."

  2. My co worker has a daughter named Cadence. I'm not sure if it was inspired by the show or not. It's not a name that really stands out as being  odd though. It just sounds like a variation on Candace to me. I've been meaning to ask but don't know if it's weird to do so.

I wouldn't give my kid a legal pony name but I could see doing so as a nickname if it fit the personality. I think Rarity is pretty, as is Pinkie.  Pinkie could make a cute nickname if it fit the child's personality. I also like Luna but that seems to be a very common choice for people with pet cats. Maude is a real person name and I love the character but I'm not sure how she'd be perceived in this day and age. I'm not even crazy abut the name.

I SWEAR I remember hearing that Britt McKillip, who voiced Princess Cadence, has a daughter named Cadence who (this blew my mind) is the singing voice for Cadence. I can't remember where I heard that, I've been trying to look it up, but I remember hearing that somewhere.

  3. It has for me a little. It reminds me of ways to be a good friend through simple lessons that I otherwise could possibly forget in the fog of complicated relationships and cynicism.

Indirectly, it's given me thicker skin. I thought being a metalhead had a lot of hurtful criticism, inside and outside. But being a brony is the first thing I've had to really stand up and defend on my own, where even my friends and parents questioned it.

  4. I've been to PonyCon AU, which is the only convention in Australia. I've been there this year and last year, made a whole bunch of friends, met some of the show voice actors and writers, bought a ton of awesome merch, had the time of my life.

I hope to attend a U.S convention one day.

  5. A couple of years ago I remember talking to a friend of a friend, and mentioned that I watch MLP. He said that he's seen seasons 1 and 2, but doesn't want to consider himself a Brony because he thought "that is one intense fandom." So there are people out there who 'just watch the show' in my experience, but I'm guessing many who just watch the show aren't as active on forums, maybe.

Haven't talked to that guy since, though. You never know, he could be rolling in merch by now.

    Either way, it's fine.

  6. I'll just state that I haven't really seen any other generation of MLP, other than that Bronies React to G3 video and various other little snips from different generations. So, I couldn't give a conclusive opinion. I can tell I would more than likely not like them, and I'll poke fun at them for the sake of fun and games, but I won't judge anyone who does like previous generations. In fact I'd think it's cool, in a 'respect the classics' kind of way.

I'm not implying that Newborn Cuties was exactly a classic, but you know what I mean.

  7. It's so weird how this episode aired now, because it solidifies something I reminded myself of recently. That you don't have to have the enormous power and influence of something like McDonalds to make a nice difference to the world. An important message to remind yourself nowadays, where the whole world seems to constantly make you feel that your small and unimportant.

SunDagio. I am NOT into fanfic in general, at least not until recently. I am much less into shipping, but dammit this fic had me! Gripping and very well written. It's the third in a VERY decent series by SkycatcherEQ about Sunset Shimmer and the Sirens after Rainbow Rocks. The only reason I started reading it is because I am a massive fan of Rainbow Rocks and was fascinated by the concept of the Sirens adapting to a new life, and this is a very nice take on it.

There is a part where I was like "…OH NO, where is this going?"

But it didn't stretch too far :)

  9. I've been dying to get a tattoo of Pinkie's cutie mark, but I can't decide where  I really like subtle tattoos, and I was thinking maybe the back of my neck so I can show it when I want to, but hide it if I don't. Gah I dunno! Anyone have any suggestions?  :kindness:

Well, there are many places you could put it where you can either hide or show it. You could have it on your back, shoulders or upper arms which are easy to cover with clothes, depending on what you usually wear, of course. Somewhere on your torso would be even easier to cover, though keep in mind the ribs are one of the more painful parts to get inked, generally. You could even put it on your calves or ankles. I found these online:

  10. I'd rather where a shirt or have accessories or something of that nature as opposed to any tattoo. Tattoos are permanent fashion statements (you can remove them yes but it's annoying) that may or may not reflect with how you want to look. I Will stay way from them completely

There's a fair point. I'd NEVER get one unless I was 100% sure I'd never regret it. Though there are plenty of happy specimens out there who get really stupid tattoos on a regular basis for a laugh and that's just how they roll, I'm definitely not one of those guys myself.

A good piece of advice I once heard is "would you like the design as a tattoo or a T-shirt? A T-shirt you can take off at the end of the day and put it back in your wardrobe until you feel like wearing it again. A tattoo: you are stuck with it FOREVER."

Subtle tattoos like Cutie Marks and/or tattoos in hidden places like the inner arms would be cool if you don't want absolutely everyone to see it. Make no mistake though, a tattoo is a constant representation of yourself, whether it is hidden or not.

  11. I was thinking of getting some. I did have this one idea that I told a few brony friends who seemed to think it was nice:

The statue from Equestria Girls on my back in a year of the horse theme. Bit of a story to the idea, if I may.

    1) The first meetup I went to was Equestria Girls at the cinema, had a really good time.
    2) I freaking love Equestria Girls
    3) When I went to Ponycon AU, the first convention I ever went to in 2014, it was during Chinese New Year, year of the horse! I had an absolute blast of a time, made literally dozens of new friends, met Andrea Libman and Peter New. A group I was in passed by a big statue of a horse in the entrance of this casino. It was big and red, with big flowers hanging from the ceiling around it.

The tattoo would basically remind me that I only have a set amount of time on this Earth, and to make it awesome. Make every year the year of the horse. Make it special, memorable and worth it. Remember the good times and make more.

Just like Twilight had only a bit of time before the portal closed, so she had to make the most of the time she had at Canterlot High :)
(I know she can now go through the portal whenever she wants to now, but come on, you know what I mean!)

  12. This one remains my favorite amongst all the brony music; and is also a favorite in regards to symphonic metal.

Yeah, that one is super epic! I actually met that guy, L-Train In February, he's cool. He played a live set at the convention I went to, with backing drums and stuff, because it would have been difficult finding other bronies at that level of skill. Excellent player, very talented.

I'd actually love to see more pony metalcore or deathcore. I like what Metal Core Pony does, I love Canapplejack's stuff but almost all of the stuff he made was taken down when he lost interest in MLP.

  13. I don't boast about it, but pretty much everyone I know, except for guys at my workplace. My friends aren't against it but they used to get annoyed from time to time, so I tend not to talk about it unless anyone asks. My family is pretty good with it, although they were VERY creeped out at first. I'm pretty open about it, despite being a pretty shy dude.

I wouldn't let anyone at work know, though. I know most of them would be like "eh, okay." But metal fabrication is populated by a lot of real Neanderthals.

  14. I love both Equestria Girls movies. I don't know why I love them so much, I just do. The fact that the first brony meet up I attended was the first Equestria Girls at the cinema might have something to do with it. I had a blast. I love the way the audience was positioned to relate to Twilight being new to a school. I have felt that feeling of "this strange new world" many times.

Love all of the songs, the villains were intense, human versions of the ponies was a fresh, interesting take. I love the movies so much, I've been watching bits of them every single morning during weekdays, for about a year and a half. Every. Single. Morning.

And Flash is a nice guy, I like him he's cool.

  15. I know it's not going to happen but would be more interesting if the next EG wouldn't have to be related to school. You know fight a war against aliens or something. The government starts suspecting unusual activity at the Equestria High and goes to investigate and Twilight Sparkle is caught under investigation.

Well, to be honest the high school motif/metaphor is one of the things that makes it so relatable, personally. Though, I get that some may say it gets a bit predictable after a while, you know:

"Okay, evil person comes in to hypnotise the school to do their evil bidding, Okay? Good."

Thankfully, it never gets old for me, for some reason.
