  1. This was a decent episode. Scootaloo had several humorous moments like arriving in Cloudsdale by catapult, her reaction to meeting Rainbow Dash's parents, taking pictures of their reactions and putting absurd items in her hero report including half a sandwich. Rainbow Dash keeping her Wonderbolt job a secret from her parents was understandable and something a lot of people with parents can relate to. There's definitely a moral about parents respecting their kids' wishes even if it means supporting them from afar. Unfortunately, that moral was downplayed in favor of Rainbow Dash learning that it's better to have oversupportive parents than neglectful, abusive, absent or dead parents. Scootaloo's ambiguous parental situation is likely one of these cases and although there is truth in her words and the moral, I think it would have been mutually beneficial to address both sides of the conflict simultaneously. Rainbow Dash was right to stand up to her parents but her means were wrong. Instead of lashing out, she should have kept her cool. If she was having problems with parental embarrassment ever since she was a filly, she should have told them sooner instead of pretending everything was fine. How were they to know it was upsetting her if she never spoke out or explained the situation. It was unreasonable to assume they would understand her wishes without communication. However, their support in the past helped Rainbow Dash become the confident high flying (get it? It's a pegasus pun!) pony she is today, even mundane activities like taking a bath or eating a carrot have helped so some degree of positive reinforcements from parents and even friends can go a long way and that's fine as long as there are spoken, established boundaries to avert conflicts. Someponies are generally apathetic and support their kids whether they like it or not. Those are the ones they should scold when all other means are exhausted. It's a last resort and if it peaceful means can be used to resolve the problem, they should be used.
  2. That's a good way of looking at it. Birds are friendly until you feed them too much. Then they become hungry, spoiled and stop scavenging for scraps. They compete with humans/ponies for their food instead. That's why their behavior varies from location to location based on how much the population spoils them. So if the dog's master gives them the same chew toy to fetch over and over again, of course the dog will get tired of it.
  3. This was a good Rarity and Sweetie Belle focus episode. The moral of accepting that fillies and infant dogs will inevitably grow up and grow out of hobbies was nice and it doesn't mean you can't make new memories. The CMC have grown up a lot since their foundation. They learned a lot of morals on their crusade for Cutie Marks and now they're helping other ponies find theirs. Rarity and Zipporwhill didn't notice how much their little sister and dog matured since they got too attached to the memories they made with them back in their infanthood and became deluded that they hadn't changed at all. I think it was a mistake for Rarity to leave Sassy in charge of the boutique considering how turbulent she was while Rarity had everything under control. Rarity is an organised pony similar to Twilight. It's an important skill in the fashion industry after all. I wonder what the result of Rarity's action was, in leaving Sassy with such a big responsibility when she clearly wasn't prepared that day. Why not wait till the weekend to see her little sister that she apparently sees so little of?
  4. This was a good Fluttershy focus episode that effectively displayed her character development since the first season. She mustered the courage to scold those experts who did the exact opposite of what she wanted. As a result, she made her dream come true and create a safe haven for all animals. Now I want to see Pinkie do something about her bizarre dream she mentioned earlier. I don't even remember what it was due to how bizarre it sounded but knowing her, it'll be crazy in an awesome kind of way for sure.
  5. This was a great episode featuring my favorite background pony, Maud. I find it humorous in retrospect that Maud was indirectly responsible for the enslavement of Starlight's village and how she blew Rarity's mind with her superior knowledge of rocks and gems. Pinkie was also pretty humorous here (controversial opinion apparently) with futile attempts to convince Maud that Lyra and Tank were rare rocks and getting Derpy to chase a pizza. Everypony loves pizza after all. I approve of the friendship between Maud and Starlight. They have a lot in common with their innocent desire to be understood and history. That subterranean cavern Maud discovered is quite large and could become an important location later in the season.
  6. This was a humorous episode. The best parts were Pinkie's sorry stamp and Spike reading his book to the fillies. His eccentricity never ceases to amuse me and he probably saw the protagonist of the book as his Manly Spike avatar. Looks like "art" in Equestria is just as incoherent as it is in real life. Anypony could walk in with a blank paper and walk out with paper with Celestia's face attached to it. Lots of it. Shining Armor's and Cadence's reactions were priceless. Flurry's magic is insanely powerful. I wonder if she were older, she could take on Starlight. Speaking of those two, perhaps there's going to be some kind of ongoing arc revolving around them. I'm not sure what this season will bring since the premiere was essentially filler.
  7. Now watching Season 7 hooray! Good to be back.

  8. I finally watched the finale and I thought it was decent but there were problems. Here's where I rank it with other finales: 6) S3 5) S6 4) S1 3) S2 2) S4 1) S5 Maybe my expectations were too high after S5 but I just don't think S6 was as awesome as other finales. I'll start with what I liked. Starlight and Discord finally interact. Sadly, their introduction appears to have happened offscreen. I wanted to see them interact more but that's okay. I was surprised by Trixie though. This is the first time I didn't think she was mean or obnoxious. Looks like the character development is working for her. I thought it was ironic how the heroes of this story were a bunch of ex-villains. However, I didn't like how the Mane 6, Spike and the princesses were replaced so easily. It's just weird for the original protagonists to be out of focus in the finale. No song is also weird. I thought it was ironic how Thorax defeated Chrysalis by sharing his love with her; the love that Changelings need to survive. But I didn't like the transmogrification. Thorax feels different now. I would've preferred the crystal wings phase to be the final evolution. I wonder how Chrysalis will retaliate now that she lost her kingdom and magical barrier. The princesses, Discord and Starlight could defeat her easily now if she ever returns.
  9. This was a humorous episode. I thought Sky was kind of a jerk but then his backstory was revealed and I pitied him since his parents didn't notice him and Vapor's help was hampering his flying. She tricked him in to thinking he was so talented that it lead to his aspirations of becoming a Wonderbolt and then the truth came out and he was back and square one. He didn't bother to try his best and he wasted his foalhood believing in a delusion. The last of the Cutie Map episodes this season pairs up Twilight with Rainbow Dash. I was quite amused by Twilight's enthusiasm and Rainbow Dash's overall portrayal. She wasn't easily offended like she was in Season 6 episode 7 and her behavior was both very in character and amusing. I liked that red and pink background pony whose name is Angel Wings apparently as well.
  10. This was a decent episode. Rarity's, Pinkie's and AJ's exaggerated and inaccurate perceptions of each other were humorous. Rarity perceived AJ as a reckless pirate, Pinkie perceived Rarity as a snob and AJ perceived Pinkie as a moron. Where was that harbor anyway? It doesn't look like Ponyville.
  11. This was the best Starlight focus episode of the season! It's great how her reformation is gradual and she still has a bit of her old self left. I enjoyed seeing how she struggled with giving orders to her brainwashed friends after the imperfect spell stripped them of their basic common sense. She's a great antivillain. Her intentions are good but she just doesn't understand the ethical issues with her actions. She failed to learn the friendship lessons assigned to her by Twilight but she learned a way more important one instead. Brainwashing your friends doesn't solve problems, it makes more. How was Rainbow Dash so exhausted in the morning after? Does "chillaxing" really take a lot of effort?
  12. This was a great episode that showed a new location we haven't seen before; Las Pegasus, which is probably the Equestrian equivalent of Las Vegas due to the similar names and cultures. The Cutie Map summoned Fluttershy and AJ to take care of a friendship problem, but AJ, stubbornly dismissing the rivalry between Flim and Flam, found several other ponies experiencing friendship problems. All of them were connected by their employer, Gladmane, who fooled them with his con-vincing (see what I did there?) nice guy facade so that they would continue making him profit. The Cutie Map chooses wisely once more. Fluttershy was necessary to find out Gladmane was a fraud from the animals and AJ was necessary to find the other friendship problems and convince Flim and Flam they were being fooled. They even suspected Gladmane would thwart their plan and gloat about it and used that against him.
  13. This was a good episode that advanced the CMC's post-CM character arc although I was expecting them to have individual CM problems to solve on their own like they said they were going to do. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo need more solo focus episodes. Gabby was a friendly optimistic character and her problem of wanting a Cutie Mark despite her kind being biologically incapable of getting them was intriguing. I liked Twilight's callback to Season 2 episode 6 to deter the CMC from using magic to solve Gabby's problem. Overall, I enjoyed this episode.
  14. This was a decent episode with an awesome Braeburn appearance near the end. I liked the moral that not all ponies can cope under pressure and play to win. Some just want to have fun and don't care about the result. It was strange how many incompetent unicorns there are though. However, few have heard of Buckball before so I guess they shouldn't be expected to understand the game after just one practice session. Twilight and Starlight have great magic so I wonder why they weren't asked to try out. Maybe they declined. Fluttershy shows once more how scary she can be when she loses her composure. I think your theory is plausible.
  15. This episode made me want to play D&D again but I lost contact with the DM after middle school so I guess I can't. Great to see Discord once more but an opportunity was wasted to have him interact with Starlight. Anyway, I'm glad it was his focus episode and not the Mane 6 since Yakyakistan has all those obnoxious yaks who smash anything that isn't perfect. O&O reminded me of nostalgic memories of playing D&D especially the part where Discord's character tries to break out of the cell and fails in the most epic way.
  16. This was an awesome episode. Cadence using the dance as means of authentication to ensure Twilight wasn't a Changeling was a good idea, especially since they haven't performed it together in a while. Nopony but Spike had faith in Thorax since his kind was responsible for the attack on Canterlot Castle. In an alternate timeline caused by Starlight, they dominated Equestria, so Twilight knows how dangerous they can be. Spike's determination to prove Thorax's innocence was great and the song was on the same level as Starlight's and Luna's characters' songs in Season 6 episode 8. I experienced empathy towards Thorax since he was being unfairly judged and mistreated. I wonder if it was him who was lured by the love between Cranky and Matilda or just foreshadowing that good Changelings do exist.
  17. You're probably overthinking it. There have been several times when ponies have lost their colors without the use of magic. Season 1 episode 25 is a good example.
  18. This was a spooky episode! I saw the plot twist coming ever since Pinkie started showing symptoms since there's no way a practical joke cookie could have that effect unless it was magically sabotaged. Either way, it was cool to see Rainbow Dash experiencing the same terror as Fluttershy when the prank backfired and she even acknowledged the pranked ponies as "zombies" which is exactly what they were acting like so that was awesome. She couldn't even fly away since the pegasi zombies would follow her. The fact that pretty much all of Ponyville were in on the counter prank to teach her a lesson was surprising and the way they executed it was very realistic and intimidating! I enjoyed the moment where they wiped off the rainbow and their colors reverted to normal and Rainbow Dash couldn't understand what the hay just happened. That was classic!
  19. This was a decent episode but it had some problems I would like to point out. Firstly, since this was a CMC focus episode, I was hoping it would continue the plot where they help other fillies get their Cutie Marks. In this case, a racing Cutie Mark would have been appropriate. Instead, it was pretty generic. Secondly, the plot was completely reliant on the CMC choosing the wrong elder ponies and being too submissive to them. I think they chose the ponies they're closer to rather than the ponies best qualified for the job. That could have been the moral if it wasn't completely ignored. Thirdly, the ending was random and made no sense. There was no reason for the adults to be completely exempt from the do-over when they could just be demoted to passengers. There was no reason for Rarity, Rainbow Dash and AJ to lounge idly and casually when they could be cheering for the CMC whose karts they helped to build. And why did they get so dirty building the second set of karts? Maybe there was a deadline since the do-over wasn't scheduled so they had to get their hooves dirty. Despite all the problems, this episode had a lot of comedy like Derpy's wood and nails kart beating Rarity's aesthetically superior kart which probably happened due to lower standards back when they were fillies. This also gives us more backstory for Rarity and explains her motives for hijacking Sweetie Belle's kart. There was also the chicken reference on Scootaloo's kart which has generated many memes. Overall, decent, albeit generic, and at the very least, better than Season 6 episode 7.
  20. I'm glad that the early hiatus is finally over. This was an enjoyable Rainbow Dash focus episode and the return of Daring Do/A.K. was welcome. The new character, Quibble Pants, was humorous with his snarky comments and melodramatic overreactions. His strong opinion of post-first trilogy Daring Do books is similar to real life sequels to books, television, movies and video games having a tendency to be lame or at least comparatively mediocre. EG Friendship Games is unpopular among a significant percentage of the brony fanbase so this concept should be familiar to some of us. Quibble's monologue during the end credits was an unconventional and humorous way to close the episode. The fourth wall breaking was brilliant. I hope to see more of this snarky stallion in the future.
  21. This was an awesome episode that returns to the Cutie Map summoning Pinkie and Rarity to solve a friendship problem in Canterlot. The underrated restaurant, The Tasty Treat, is represented by an elephant, one of the less seen animals in the show. The Mane Six's pets include an owl, a dog, a cat, a crocodile, a mischievous bunny and a tortoise. Once more, Canterlot ponies are jumping on the bandwagon and letting a mean food critic dictate what's cool to eat. Presentation and nutrition are important but taste will always be my priority. While it was surprising to see another antagonist refuse to be redeemed, the animators clearly designed her to look like an antagonist and somepony we're supposed to root against. When the song started, I noticed that Pinkie and Rarity weren't on the same page. Pinkie wanted to preserve the restaurant's originality and show Zesty the value of taste, Rarity was focused on meeting Zesty's standards at all costs. I sided with Pinkie since Season 5 episode 1 and 2 shows that everypony has a right to be unique in their own way and the moral of this story is that just cause something is a minority doesn't make it inferior or bad.
  22. This was a decent episode. Zephyr was a lazy egotist with no motivation or remorse for his actions. I notice the writing was lazy too since "You saved Equestria like a dozen times!" was said in episode 7. Zephyr accomplished something with some positive encouragement from Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. Now we've seen Pinkie's, Twilight's and Fluttershy's parents so maybe we'll see more Mane Six parents in the future. Probably not AJ's.
  23. This was a humorous episode that focused on the opening of Rarity's new boutique that we saw in episode 3. The interviews, Rarity consciences and most of the gags were enjoyable and some of the better comedy in the show. Sweep, sweep, sweep, sweep....
  24. Looking forward to more Season 6 episodes.

  25. This episode filled me with Hearthswarming cheer. Twilight's story has the premise of Scrooge, the real life Christmas story, but with a Grinch type of character as the villain protagonist, portrayed by former villain Starlight. There were surprisingly good songs and the story got dark when Luna's character showed how devastating the Windigos are. Just like the Season 5 finale when Twilight showed Starlight the consequences of undoing a friendship. Another appropriate portrayal since Luna brought eternal night to Equestria as Nightmare Moon and Windigos brought eternal winter. Only friendship and selflessness can beat them. The professor pony was a tribute to Alan Rickman's character Snape from Harry Potter. As a fan of the movies, I thought that was cool. Overall, an enjoyable festive episode with a moral that shows it's never too late to change your mind and celebrate the holiday!
