  1. While at first glance it seemed like twilight being made a princess was pretty pointless except from a toy making point of view, Twilight actually HAS gotten a pretty distinct role in the country compared to celestia and luna over the past season: Diplomacy.

Looking at what celestia has done over the past 1000 years, it looks like she's pretty much ignored every single non-pony civilization anywhere near equestria and has concentrated solely on dealing with the pony kingdoms; all well and good, but ever since Twilight took over as a princess, there's been a much larger outreach (by her) to other non-pony civilizations. Griffons, then dragons, changelings and yaks have all shown up following twilight becoming a princess and getting a castle. While twilight might not actually do a whole lot of Governing for the Equestrian kingdom itself, she has started to outreach to and build ties with OTHER kingdoms, something which absolutely none of the other princesses seemed to have been bothered with doing prior to twilight.

Have they already made a comic about Amores return? This was such a powerfull story. :ooh:

Nope, and honestly outside of that one bit from the "Guardians of Harmony" comic Princess Amore hasn't been touched on since, which is a shame. I would think Radiant Hope and Sombra's journey to find them would be quite fascinating.

I'd kind of like a future GOH comic where amore was knight templar insane after years of being shattered ala Sentinel prime in transformers wanting to purge undesirables from cybertron.

Well Discord already was shown with a cutie mark when he transformed into a pony to trick Tirek. It was a black Tornado.

Anyway, i odn't know why would Discord even care about fulfilling the quest of the map? Why mane6 are even doing it? What happen if they ignore it? Especially Discord should be the one to intentionally sabotage anything that comes from the Tree of Harmony. Harmony literally kills him.

the map is currently sitting in the "no point" corner of the room. There's no purpose or endgame for it, it just exists so the staff don't have to think up reasons for a plot to occur currently, just "Map is flashing"

Though I do wonder as to if this happens after Tempest repents, or once the Storm King is dealt with, since I know Twilight would not simply restore the other Princesses until it was safe to do so after getting the Staff of Sacanas from Storm King.

They defeat the storm king first, restore the princesses, and then Storm king pops up, does a final post climax attack so he can accidentally kill himself and be self disposing. Tempest repents pretty much immediately after being betrayed by the storm king and saved by twilight from falling

Not sure if this counts, but going back to the comics, there was one Princess Amore who was turned to stone then shattered. Supposedly she's not dead, but we really didn't know that when it happened.

The most that ever happens to anyone in this show/series is them getting turned to stone, since they (for some reason) seem to treat being turned to stone as "not dying" even if you're shattered, on the basis of it being still possible to put your shards back together. Even sombra got retconned as surviving.

for example, in a "get rid of them in a Non-lethal way" (Movie spoilers)

They turn the princesses to stone to get rid of them in the movie, since that's a way to put them in mortal danger without technically threatening to kill them

And the storm king gets offed in the same way by being stoned and shattered, in a "he's POSSIBLY not dead, just shattered!" way

  6. Good episode really. Found it pretty good, and while I think it IS a weaker Daring do episode (Stranger than fan fiction is so much better... but stranger than fanfiction is also one of the best in the show IMO), still very serviceable.

Really enjoy them trying to showcase Pinkie's element as representing hope a bit more, since that's pretty vauge in the show apart from one line from celestia.

Caballeron is an underrated Magnificent B*****d, and Somnambula and Sphinx are waifu material.

    Just saying.

Cabelleron is much better than azuihotl honestly; Azuhiotl is a pretty crappy villain who comes off as just a raging (literal) retard most of the time, while cabelleron actually seems to plot things out and works better as a foil/villain to daring do. (especially in the novels where azuihotl almost defeats himself multiple times and only gets by due to having someone else to think for him)

Daring Do episodes usually don't really do it for me. The same goes for this one. Lots of worldbuilding and I loved the new locations, but the episode also felt slow to me. At the same time I did like the moral in the end.

Rainbow's capture was... odd. Normally I shouldn't be bothered by this but here it felt a little off.

The mane six being useless or easily capturable when the plot calls for it is a bit of a running issue in the show currently really; I mean, even going past the mane six, Starlight was pretty incompetent in yesterday's episode too when push came to shove. (Its like ponies are leprechauns, capture them in a bag and they're indebted to not use their magic to escape without your wishes)

And everyone's upset at Daring for destroying an intelligible statue.

If that's true, then the townsponies are absolutely justified to feel upset. That statue must've been really important to their culture, and losing it means losing a part of their ancestry.

A little disappointing how it feels a little more like a half-gag at this point.

Nah, one failed satire is enough.

Well, well, well, long time, no, see, CABALLERON! How's that disguise of yours workin' out?

I would honestly have liked a scene where dash chews them out for worrying about the physical object and not the INTENT of the object-- Somnambula would have prioritized helping others over any physical object no matter how precious after all, so being upset about the statue being destroyed without looking at WHY is missing the point of having it IMO.

Are you sure about that? Because I was considering that as one of the scenarios as well if Tempest does not petrify her when she willingly surrenders to Tempest to protect the rest of the Mane Six, if the images of Twilight being caged back in Canterlot from the junior novel is any indication of that.

the book pretty clearly says and shows it happening.

So I wonder why Pinkie Pie is involved in this, and I wonder why Daring Do is going to retire.

This is probably going to be the somnambula episode since she'll be pinkie's analogue in the legends of of magic, and there's not really any other opportunities for somnambula's legend to pop up. Probably will have something where daring do shares a story about somnambula to dash and compares pinkie to her.

Aside from Sunset and Sci-Twi, who both have already changed their outfits once already through the EQG series, the other characters have been needing new outfits as they've worn the same ones since the first movie. These new ones will need more images so as to get more angles in addition to seeing how practical they can be but I'm all for it.

Eh, going to disagree about sunset. Sunset was the only one with a near *perfect* original design, so them changing it for a new one just seems like a bad move. Really think the new design is a huge step down from her previous look.

    15 hours ago, cmarston1 said:

My favorites would have to be Sunset, Applejack ans Sci Twi's new outfits.

Applejack's look is good, but her look is also incredibly similiar to her old look honestly XD

I kind of wish they would have tweaked these a bit honestly; Pinkie's would have been great if it was just one frill instead of 3, and I kind of wish dash had black shorts instead of black pants (love black on RD honestly, but the long pants still look a little too much)

Wait a second, I thought Celestia and Luna got killed off for real?

    What?!

Whatever made you think THAT?! they just got turned to stone, which seems to be the go to method (in both the comics and movie) for getting rid of them in a "Permanent if they're not rescued" way.

That's the one thing I feared about the My Little Pony movie: That they will go around killing off fan favorites, even the princesses.  I guess Hasbro is still aware of the sting of that era when it came to killing off Optimus Prime(Undone thankfully in The Return of Optimus Prime)

And if I ever see Peter Cullen again, I would point out to him that I would rather see a scenario where Optimus is the Only Autobot to aid a group of organics against the Decepticons, and come out with his spark still intact.

No one ever dies in MLP; the worst that happens is they get turned to stone and shattered. (Even sombra ended up being retconned to have survived)

Sounds like she sees the error of her ways and helps the Mane Six defeat the Storm King, but the novel doesn't mention if she restores Celestia, Luna, and Cadance to flesh and blood, or Queen Novo does it with her pearl since Celestia did tell Luna before being petrified to seek out Queen Novo, indicating she might be able to reverse Tempest's spell on the Princesses if Tempest could not do it.

Twilight Unleashes the power in the staff to Restore the other princesses to normal and undue the damage caused by Storm king

Maybe Meadowbrook's from eastern unicorn to earth pony is a retcon. I don't see other explanation. And yes, I do think these are some of the 8 items mentioned in the S5 premiere. Unless they also retcon the amount, that'll be 2 items short

Given all the retcons going around, its not impossible to think that the 8 items aren't specifically referring to ones OWNED by meadowbrook, but ones she dealt with.

So 6 of the items might have been owned by her and the other legends, while 1 or 2 of them could have been used by a villain, dropping the number down some. (Like one of the magical items could have been referring to one used by the pony of shadows)

  13. Strong as they need to be.

Which means when the writers want a situation to be tense they'll act like the ponies are incredibly weak (See the movie and how easily they're over run), and when they need them to be strong they'll be super stronk (things like maud pie, ect)

  14. I have an insane theory that the pony of shadows from the finale for this season will turn out to be a corrupted starswirl the bearded.

Nothing to go on but personal theorizing though :P

At the very least, I think that the pony of shadows will be involved in whatever it is that caused starswirl to dissapear, given how his legends comic had him do a long speech about how he wouldn't always be there, and the legends of magic comic will feature him heavily as one of the legends (And will tie into the finale)

  15. So, in the last episode we had tree legends of the past show up, and we're going to be having meadowbrook (For some reason an earth pony and not an "eastern unicorn"...) show up as well later on this season. Think that the Items possessed by the three ponies in campfire tales were some of the 8 magical items? (Rockhoof's shovel, flash's Shield, and that flower that Mistmane used)

I am the terror that posts in the night.

I am the spoiler that spoils the movie.

    I am Goat-kun ... I need to find a better vigilante name.

The end will be like the beginning with a few buildings less and a few extra guests.

After reading the novelization book, I am totally pissed off.

Specifically, the Art book mentions that they were going to have some sort of really epic climax where the mane six power up into super forms with the staff and have a giant fight with the storm king but they changed it...

and the ACTUAL climax is storm king making a storm that sucks his staff away and then turning himself to stone with a bomb by accident.

Like... No fight. Just "Grab the staff!" and then storm king offs himself with a stone grenade.

    Damnit.

I was hoping the picture book I'd seen had been leaving stuff out and there was something big and climatic after the "Mane six form a chain and grab the staff" thing, but no; that's literally IT. Its all there is to it. He sucks his own staff away with a storm, twilight grabs it, and the Storm king is LITERALLY useless without his staff.
