This has been on my mind for the longest time. How long is the equestrian year? I first thought of this while watching "Winter Wrap Up". Twilight off handedly states that Ponyville was founded hundreds of years ago. Yet later we see that Granny Smith was there when Ponyville was founded. That would make Granny Smith at least 200 years old. But how can that be?
If I may propose a theory, I believe that an equestrian year is approximately 1/3 the length of an earth year. Lets do the math, that would make each equestrian year is 121 days. If Granny Smith is 200 years old then it would be 121*200. That would make her 24200 days old. To convert that to earth years we simply take that number and divide it by the amount of days in an earth year, 365. So it would be 24200/365 which equals 66 years old! That seems to be a fair approximation of her correct age.
Using this equation (121*pony age/365) we can approximate the age of others as well. Or we can convert our age to see how old we would be in equestrian years. For example I would be 60 years old in Equestria. If you want to find your equestrian age take your age multiply it by 365 and divide it by 121.
With the figure presented, there would be enough days for all the events in the show plus extra days for off-screen action.
I may make mistakes, in no way am I perfect. If you find a flaw in my theory feel free to correct me, or post your own theories.
