  1. Happy 3 year forumversary to me!

Trying to watch the rest of season 8 but I can't even find some of the early released episodes. This scheduling is just so exhausting to make sense of.

@Bas the app? Yeah I am, why?

  2. The amulet hunt being a setup was rather predictable. It was obvious right when it began. RD and Rarity, who have been friends for years and been through so many things together, just decided to end friendship in a matter of hours. Not only is that somewhat OOC for them, it ended over something as trivial as not having the same interests. They've known about their differences all this time...why did it suddenly become a problem now when it hadn't for years? Why did it have to outside help to get them to get along again? If their friendship was so strong before, surely they would've been able to resolve themselves at some point, but it took an outside setup (as if we haven't had enough 'setups' this season...) to fix their friendship. The fact that external factors both ignited and ended the conflict seems to send the message that their friendship is fragile and not something that can be maintained under pressure or without outside help. For an intra-Mane 6 relationship, that doesn't seem right at all. I suppose this episode wasn't the worst it could've been, but the message kind of got lost on me.
  3. Sad backstory, but good episode. It's a reminder that the ponies' concept of friendship is a unique one -- the other creatures either have some kind of equivalent or none at all. I totally get Gallus not wanting to return to Griffonstone, and I don't know if he'll ever want to again after spending enough time at the school of friendship... It was interesting to hear about the other creatures' holidays. It gives some insight into their cultures and ways of life.
  4. I had a suspicion once Discord showed up that he had something to do with the friendship quest.. They're going to have to give him a teaching role sometime in the future...he was only vice headmare for about 10 seconds, so the problem of this ep isn't quite resolved until he gets some official position. Anyways, great start to the second half of the season. If the leaked emails from December are right, that means...
  5. Just caught up on the first half of season 8. Now for the next four or so.

No disappointing episodes at all so far; I'm surprised. Hopefully it stays that way :squee:

  6. This was okay. The breakup scene seemed unnecessary...the whole "moral" of this story was miscommunication/assumptions (as Sugar Belle so bluntly stated), but miscommunication does happen sometimes and it's not always bad to make assumptions. I suppose I get the idea behind all of it, but... idk. Discord made it from being mediocre.
  7. This was interesting. RD and AJ were in disagreement the whole time -- even after the resolution. I don't think I've seen an episode yet where something was both the conflict and the resolution. In a way, it still seems unresolved, but I guess disagreeing/being in competition isn't a bad thing, so I'm pretty satisfied with this ep.
  8. I really liked this one because it showed how friendship is more than just bonding with acquaintances... it's very much about familial relationships too. A parent needn't excluded from the title of friend..nor should siblings, cousins, extended family, etc. If someone's meaningful to you then they deserve that title, if not, more.
  9. This was funny. Celestia, being the almighty princess of Equestria, could not act in the most basic of ways. Twilight's dilemna of disappointing her former mentor and delivering the hard truth to her is understandable and all too familiar to those of us who have ever been dishonest (which should be all of us). I don't have much to say beyond that. The "good news! Free food" line cracked me up. Plenty of other notable moments in that ep as well.
  10. This was a lot to take in...the two new settings that we've seen little of (besides the movie), the cultures of the hippogriffs and seaponies, and a couple new characters. Oh, and turning into seaponies again. That seemed somewhat sudden. This ep kind of speaks to me because my parents have been divorced for a few years and for a time I was really split between both places, as they had 50/50 custody of me. Now though I've completely cut off one world and embraced the other. It's a difficult dilemna to have when you're a kid, but stages like that usually pass as your identity develops. I think I want to watch this again just to take in the backgrounds and whatnot. It was all kind of fascinating to watch.
  11. I want to say the moral of this episode is don't be judgmental, but none of this was RD's fault...it was AJ's. AJ's assumptions almost ruined RD's opportunity to ride the coaster. I'm not sure why the end of the episode made it seem like RD was the one who needed to learn a lesson, given that this would've gone very differently had AJ not been overprotective.
  12. I liked it. Good moral about not having to fake your personality in order to be charismatic/likeable. Don't believe taht your personality is so static that it can't be compatible with others' -- we're all different and that diversity is a strength rather than a weakness.
  13. I'm glad Pinkie could understand Mudbriar (and by extension, Maud) a bit more. I thinking having the bubbly and outgoing personality that she does can be a double-edged sword in the sense that some empathy gets lost in the way...the fact that she never understood that Maud isn't really into parties makes that apparent.
  14. Wow this was great! It seemed pretty predictable at first -- that doing things "by the book" was going to be the problem of the episode, and that Twilight would realize that the teachers should just teach their way, but despite that, it ended up being pretty entertaining. I'm really glad we got to see a lot more creatures, especially the ones we just saw in the movie. I didn't expect this to be such an abrupt drop-off from the movie, but it all seemed to work out smoothly. The 2nd song was rather good, although I do wish we had seen more of the teachers teaching "their way". There probably wasn't enough time for that though. anyways, I'd say this is a good start for the season -- I'm excited to watch the rest.
  15. Alright, help me get to 1000 brohoofs. I'm almost there :D

  17. Last weekend was pretty rough...I had to end a toxic relationship and it wasn't fun. But now I can look forward to creating a great future for myself without that poisoning it. Oh yeah, good morning all ;)

  18. You don't necessarily need surgery to "be" trans. Many people have gender dysphoria but choose not to undergo it. There are also identities such as nonbinary, genderfuid, agender, etc., which, for some, fits better than having to identify rigidly as either a girl or guy.
  19. Happy happy happy b-day

  20. Sup everypony. I haven't been here in a while.

  21. How is this a thing xD

  22. So...really embarrassing story. I ran out of gas in the middle of a shoulder-less road >_< I didn't know how long it would go on empty since I just got it last week. Lesson learned I guess

  23. Black Panther was great. Pretty solid Marvel movie. Also finally saw The Greatest Showman last week. Was definitely impressed with it...the box office needs more musicals honestly.

I have a box in my room that was used as a container for an item I bought off amazon a couple months ago, and it has "The Greatest Showman" all over it and I didn't know what it was until you just mentioned it.

I thought I just had to tell you that for some reason. It was a mystery for a while.

  24. Woohoo Chloe Kim took gold with a 98! Looking forward to Shaun White becoming king of the pipe tomorrow.
  25. Weird to think there's a red sports car with a mannequin at the wheel orbiting the Earth right now...

It's a pretty great marketing stunt by Tesla to be honest. We should assume Tesla's stock is going to be... skyrocketing from this...ayy? ;)

      Sorry. Bad pun.
