  1. I created this economy Luke ANH off of a cheap Luke lightsaber I bought off eBay, and slowly rebuilt it. Bought the pieces I needed off eBay, and used other pieces that I had laying around the house.

It's my proudest and most favorite replica lightsaber I own (I also own a Replica Vader ANH, and Anakin AotC and Anakin RotS), simply because for me it's the one that started it all. The first ever lightsaber I saw ignited on screen, back in 1997, and I fell in love with it right then and there.

That's a beautiful lightsaber! You did a wonderful job with it. Personally my favorite saber from the movies is Luke's ROtJ green saber.

UPDATE: I just recently picked up the Ultrasabers Prophecy saber. It's a similar design to Anakin's AotC saber, but stripped down to be more comfortable for actual dueling

  2. I've collected a bunch over the years:

    Darth Vader

    Anakin Skywalker

    Luke Skywalker

    Mace Windu

    Yoda

    Darth Maul

    Assaj Ventress

This guy's lightsabers are awesome but really expensive: http://www.advanced-light.com/

Those look really cool! I love Assaj Ventress' hilt design. It's one of my favorite, but they're not very common.
  3. So recently (within the last year or two) I've found myself involved in the saber collecting community. I have some friends who also collect lightsabers, and there are forums dedicated to the hobby, but I was wondering if there is anyone here who also collects sabers. I kind of want some people to talk to about it.

If you are not aware, there are whole companies (the most popular being Ultrasabers and Saberforge) who produce collectible dueling lightsabers. These are for both collectible purposes, and for actual saber dueling.

Are any of you guys interested in this hobby too?

My favorite company to get my sabers from are Ultrasabers. I like how affordable they are, and I actually like their slightly bulkier hilts because I am a tall person with long fingers. I currently have two stunt sabers (the Sentinel v4 in counselor green, and the Overlord in blazing red), but I have had experience using other sabers that my friends own.

I am thinking about getting a couple more. I have my eye on the Bellicose and Prophesy from Ultrasabers. I've heard good things about those. I'm also looking at some of the apprentice tier sabers from Saberforge. Even though I don't like how those feel in my hand when I'm dueling or spinning, they all beautiful sabers.

  4. Other than mlp, lets see...

History: I'm a college student majoring in history right now. It's one of the things I never get tired of. I recently did some personal research on Roman coins. I'm trying to learn how to identify them.

Music: I'm a musician. I play several instruments, and I'm always picking up new ones. I'm in a band that I think is going well right now. We are working towards recording an album soon.

Lightsabers: I'm a massive Star Wars fan, and I've recently starting collecting prop and stunt lightsabers both for display and actual dueling (like ultrasabers or saberforge). I'm actually planing on ordering a couple new ones soon.

Video Games: I enjoy playing video games a lot. Not much more to say about it. I'm really excited for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, which is supposed to release sometime in 2017. On top of that, I'm looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 2 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 (yeah, I actually like the new battlefront game), which are also coming out late 2017.

  5. I've always had my own little idea of how this works.

All ponies have magic, right? They just have different ways of using it. Pegasi focus their magic through their wings, which allows them to fly and do other related things. Earth Ponies don't have a way to focus their magic, so they've adapted to be able to use their magic in less direct ways like having extra strength or non-directly affecting nature and their surroundings (like how plants grow better when an Earth Pony grows them).

Unicorns are able to cast spells because they have a way of focusing their magic into a spell (their horn). Without their horn, they would have no way of focusing their magic, and they haven't adapted to use magic in a non-direct way like Earth Ponies. It's not that they wouldn't have magic anymore, they just wouldn't have a natural way to focus it and use it.

But that's just how I like to explain it to myself.

  6. I'm a fairly average fan. I've been a fan for a while now, I've got a couple pieces of merch, and I participate in the online community (post on forums, make fan art, etc) but I'm not good about keeping up with the show and I honestly have no interest in going to conventions or anything like that. I'm definitely no expert and probably won't ever be one.

  7. There are a lot of games you could say I have been addicted to. When I was younger, I was definitely addicted to Minecraft. I've lost interest, though.

I was also addicted to Skyrim when it came out. Honestly, I've been sucked back in since the special edition came out.

  8. I really hope the villain doesn't end up being reformed at the end like they have a habit of doing with antagonists and villains as of late; I also hope they don't go the "He's just misguided!" route like they have a tendency to do with characters, like Gloriosa or Midnight sparkle for example, with the characters not being responsible for their actions.

I'm getting a bit tired of the constant reformations and "no responsibility" villainy where a character is acting beyond their control due to magic. I want to see a villain who knows 100% what they're doing and acts fully evil the entire time; the best villains in the show IMO are always the ones who aren't set up for a reformation at the end or have mitigating factors: the sirens from EQG for example are by far the best villains from that series and are fully villains who don't reform, and tirek and chrysalis are seen as some of the best villains for that reason.

I agree. I don't mind the idea of a villain being reformed, but doing it every time is just bad writing. You can't reform every villain, or have them be just misunderstood. Sometimes a villain needs to be just plain evil.

  9. They can eat meat as well, they just don't do it in the wild. What's your point?

You are impossible. You say if they "they can't eat meat", so why can they eat eggs, mushrooms, and dairy...

Because eggs, mushrooms, and dairy are not meat!

My point is that they can eat whatever the creators of the show decide they can eat... because they are cartoon ponies and don't have to follow the rules of what real ponies eat.

  10. Then what's wrong with them eating meat?

*sigh* So imagine you were making a show about talking ponies. You would want those talking ponies to be as similar to people as possible so the audience can relate. Because of this, you include things in their diet that people eat. However, it's still kind of hard to ignore the fact that horses are herbivores, so you don't include meat.

And I also just looked this up. Real horses actually CAN eat mushrooms and eggs. They just don't do it naturally in the wild. The only reason they can't eat/drink dairy products is that most mammals loose the enzymes to digest dairy products when they are adults. Humans are kind of odd in the fact that we can drink milk as adults.

But that ties in with my original point. You want the cartoon ponies to be similar to people, so even though horses can't drink milk, you make it so they (for example) drink milk with their cereal because the audience of kids drink milk with their cereal.

  11. Yes mushrooms are fungus not meat nor plant. So it makes no sense for horses or ponies to eat mushrooms either.

MLP ponies are not the same as real ponies, and therefor probably don't have the same diet. The only general consensus I see is that MLP ponies don't eat meat. Eggs, dairy, and mushrooms are not meat.

(I know people don't like the "it's a tv show" argument, but I have to pull it out here. forgive me) I think the creators of the show try to make the ponies as similar to people as possible. Ponies can't eat meat, but that's pretty much where the creators stop. Their diets are similar to people, but without meat... because they're ponies.

  12. Are you aware that mushrooms are not meat? They are a type of fungus. I see no problem with them eating mushrooms. In real life, horses don't necessarily eat mushrooms, but as long as they aren't poisonous mushrooms, they could eat them if they wanted to.

And dairy... ponies in real life drink their mothers milk. Given that MLP ponies are not the same as real ponies, I don't think it's a huge stretch to say that they can eat or drink dairy products.

Eggs... OK. That one doesn't make too much sense, but we can simply say that ponies don't eat meat. Eggs are not meat.
