  1. The YouTube situation is really very depressing. The problem is as I've said in an article I'm currently writing on the subject, Google know they can get away with it because they have no competition on the video sharing website market. It doesn't how much users complain because ultimately they're not going to go anyway, since there is no where else to go. Anyway, I thought I'd add Mad Munchkin's contribution. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng4gA9Kg7Kw
  2. It should have a separate identity from Bronies React really
  3. Ah, the analysis community; a subject that both fascinates and amuses me. Well my favourite and perhaps biggest influence is Lily Peet. Mad Munchkin and Tyandaga are pretty high up there as well. KimPossible's "reviews" basically consist of reference followed by obvious joke followed by reference etc. which gets tiring after a while, Dr Wolf is boring, and while Silver Quill is decent, he's also the most popular anyway, so, yeah. Talking of popularity, The Editor needs more attention. Seriously watch The Editor I'm not sure in what world LittleshyFiM counts as a reviewer or analyst, but you get points for mentioning The Editor
  4. Most of the songs in MLP I couldn't care less about. It is hard to point to any that annoy me or are the "worst" because if they don't stand out to me I generally just forget about them. Having said that, the Gala song from The Best Night Ever was quite tedious to listen to. By the time it got to singing "at the Gala, at the Gala!" for the sixth or seventh time all I could think was yes, I get the point already! Now can we please move on
  5. Something I don't think has been brought up is their appeal as a ponysona. The ability to shape-shift, combined with their villainous tendencies, makes a changeling OC immediately come across as sly/devious, which is a fitting representation for how some members of the fandom are, or how they want to project themselves. Then there is the fun you can have with the whole impersonation thing. If anypony asks, Midnight Chimes is absolutely, definitely NOT a changeling... *looks around suspiciously
  6. The annoying thing is THAT fanfic which we associate with Pinkie being a murderous psycho actually has nothing to do with Pinkamena. In fact it is quite obvious in said fanfic that Pinkie is her usual cheerful self throughout; that is why it works. Turning a character into a murderer is one thing, but being able to keep them in character while doing so is what makes the difference. Anyway my point is that we should appreciate both the fanfic and Pinkamena as separate entities and stop projecting one onto the other.
  7. Discord was the best, not because of Keep Calm and Flutter On, although that was a great episode, but because of what came after it. It quickly became clear his inherent character wasn't going to change, and he is still the old Discord we know and love, and there is a sense of progression through season 4 and on into season 5. At first there is an uneasy friendship that is seen as an unfortunate necessity by the mane six (as a way to keep Discord in check) and an inconvenience by Discord. It is little wonder then that he relapses when taunted about it by Tirek. It is only after the season 4 finale that he really begins to value friendship and likewise we see in What About Discord? that the mane six have become genuine friends with him. Trixie was never a villain anyway (except when corrupted by the amulet) so doesn't count. Diamond Tiara did a complete character 180, but I can still believe it since she is still growing up and maturing into an adult. Starlight Glimmer is by far the worst. No, I'm not even going to call that a redemption. As if I'm supposed to believe that after spending her entire life cultivating her philosophy, a flashback to some random moment of her as a filly and a two minute conversation with Twilight is enough to make her abandon it entirely. Bahahaha that is not the real Starlight Glimmer. I like to think that the REAL Starlight is still out there, somewhere. If not, it's going to take a long time to repair the damage done by that episode.
  8. It's strange that she hasn't made a return sooner, given the number of recurring characters we've seen recently (Discord, Gilda, the donkeys, Steven Magnet... and that's not even including all the villain cameos in the finale). Perhaps she is unloved by the writers/showrunners for whatever reason, but there is certainly enough demand for her in terms of the fandom. I wouldn't be surprised to see Trixie in season 6, which would be good because there is still a lot more that can be done with the character.
  9. MLP is way more enjoyable than Game of Thrones anyway. As for complaining, if a legitimate problem persists I see no reason to desist in criticising it.
  10. This Fandom seems to constantly beat itself up for not living up to its supposed values of "love and tolerance", but the fact is all fandoms are made up of people, and people are, well, people. There will always be good and bad people, wherever you go, but what's good in this fandom is REALLY good. There are many, many talented and pleasant/friendly individuals out there if you go to the right places. From my experience this forum has a pretty decent community so it's a good place to start.
  11. Jarring references to show continuity/dialogue, for example Derpy saying "I just don't know what went wrong" or Discord saying "where's the fun in making sense?" This can extend to fan works too, such as "cutie mark acquisition program" or anything to do with Cupcakes.
  12. I had one just this week in Poetry class. We were supposed to bring poems to read out loud and I had sort of forgotten, but I had one I'd written that was heavily MLP influenced, although it didn't explicitly mention ponies. I wasn't sure whether to read it out or not, but eventually I thought what the hell, I'll stand up and read it anyway, though I'll probably regret it later. I thought I'd gotten away with it at first, but then I was talking with a couple of friends from the class later and one of them said "was that poem about My Little Pony?" "Oh no, was it that obvious?" I replied "Yes" my other friend replied. Actually one of them started talking about the Crystal Empire afterwards so it was cool.
  13. I don't use it in everyday conversation but I do like replacing song lyrics with it. Like "everypony wants to rule the world" or "everypony's changing and I don't feel the same"
  14. Recorded all my reactions. Currently at the editing stage.
  15. Hi, it's always good to see another small analyst out there like myself. Hopefully we can grow together until one day Silver Quill will be forced to bow down before us... Seriously though, I enjoyed watching and I have left some feedback in the comments.
  16. When someone responds to my opinion with something meaningless and empty like "each to their own". I know that all opinions are subjective, what is your point? Either engage in the discussion or don't. "Each to their own" is not an argument. On the other hand it makes me uneasy when someone cuts straight in with a counter argument to everything single thing I say. I'm perfectly happy for an individual to hold opposing opinions to my own, but there is a difference between that and feeling like I'm verbally under attack. Other than that, debating anything with anyone who blatantly and relentlessly ignores/distorts/invents evidence to suit their point of view is a waste of time.
  17. I don't have any swearing in mine, but you go ahead and do what you want, it's your video!
  18. This is interesting because for me I've always been something of an eccentric and a rebel when it comes to social norms and so on. So while I never expected to get into MLP specifically, the fact that I did doesn't surprise me that much. Once I realised how much I enjoyed the show I quickly stopped feeling awkward about watching it because the idea that "it has ponies in it therefore only girls should watch it" just sounds really shallow and stupid when you spell it out like that. Ultimately all I care about is how much I enjoy it.
  19. Not necessarily my favourite episode, but if there was one episode that got me hooked onto the show it was Sleepless in Ponyville. One of those powerful, multi-layered stories with a relatable conflict and a wonderful emotional pay-off.
  20. What About Discord? was not a bad episode. By comparison The Return of Harmony was mediocre Vinyl Scratch is pure annoying and I'm indifferent to Octavia at best Amending Fences and Tanks for the Memories are overrated Sombra was a great villain (even before the Cutie Re-Mark) and season 3 was a great season The Cutie Re-Mark was an anti-climax While I'm a Doctor Who nerd and a fan of Doctor Whooves as a character, I don't like to think of him as an alien or from another universe (at least not in canon) Derpy's original voice was irritating and I actually prefer the "censored" version of The Last Roundup
  21. Sorry if I'm replying a bit late, but I have channel and I'd like to contribute to this if it's okay.
  22. Rarity, because of Spike, Rainbow Dash because of being a lesbian icon and all that, Fluttershy because of rabid Fluttercorders and Twilight because, well... Honestly, it would be easier to ask which pony would cause the least uproar! Out of the mane six, Pinkie Pie seems to have been mentioned the least, although, personally it would mess with my headcannon that she is asexual if she got a boyfriend. Outside of the mane six, Lyra and/or Bon Bon wouldn't go down well, what with them being "best friends"
  23. My friend group know about me liking ponies, but they never really talk about it, except there was one time when we were going out for Halloween and I was debating what costume to wear. The girl next to me loudly blurted out "eeeww you should dress up as a pony!" I just nodded and quietly laughed along. I didn't dress up as a pony...
  24. While I don't entirely agree with the theory myself, I think there is ground to at least argue that Equestria is matriarchal, given that all known alicorns are princesses, for instance. There are lots of ways of interpreting Equestrian society and just because one theory isn't objectively true, doesn't mean it shouldn't be explored. Sure we'd like to believe our magical utopia of ponies is egalitarian but sometimes the nicest interpretation isn't the necessarily the most interesting.
