  1. Not sure if there's a better place in the forum to put this thread? Anyway, so usually (at least in the United States), the wife of a husband usually changes her last name to that of the husband's. Like even though my mother got divorced, she still has my dad's last name because she wasn't willing to change it back. So this has definitely piqued my interests. I don't usually see this happening. Why is it that Lauren Faust didn't change her last name when marrying? I mean, I read on her Wikipedia article moments ago that she "considers herself a feminist," so could it be that she wanted to bypass the American cultural standard of changing the last name when marrying? (Although most people I know are "feminists" including myself; I guess the word has different interpretations and I don't want to get into that discussion so much) I can see why someone may feel that the cultural fad of changing the last name to the husband's is sort of unappealing, since it could be perceived (again I'm not saying my opinion, but what some people's opinions may be) that it makes it seem as if you're totally relying on the husband for everything, and it's not the other way around, so much that even your own name depends on him (and not the other way around). I've also heard of more rare cases where the husband changes their last name to the wife's last name, but I haven't ever actually seen this happen, so it must be pretty rare. But that isn't what happened here either. So does anyone here happen to know the answer to this mystery? Or even any other theories?
  2. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Pinkie Pie How did you find MLP Forums?: How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Hi! I'm a boy who recently became hooked on the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic television series. I am almost finished with the first season and it's been about 5 days. Although I skipped the episode about the sick parrot, because I was eating at the time. So anyway, one day last weekend I was bored and scrolling through Netflix. I saw that MLP was on there, and decided to see what all the ruckus online was about with MLP. See, I'd always been curious as to why so many people love the show so much, and how a "brony" community arose from it. But I never dared myself to try watching it. Until that Friday night. I was really, but REALLY surprised at how good it actually is, and how excited I was to watch the next episode, and the next, and the next, and the next. I had also been rewatching Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, which was created by the same people, because I'd liked that show as a kid, and because I was making a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tool-assisted_speedrunof a video game based on the show, and still am. I must say that MLP's animation style and humor style remind me of Foster's actually. And Foster's has a really good humor style. I find Rainbow Dash to be similar to Bloo, since they both act cool a lot. I wonder what a fanfiction of Rainbow Dash x Bloo would be like. But most of all, I like Pinkie Pie. She's so funny. xD So is Rainbow Dash though. They're my favorite couple definitely. But anyway, the show is actually really well made and can clearly be enjoyed by all kinds of different people, and definitely not just "female children" like the show was oriented towards. Plus the cuteness makes it a whole lot more enjoyable. Unfortunately, I'm embarrassed to really talk about my new interest in real life, but that is why I decided to come here instead. And it already seems like a very nice community just from looking at it. I'm really glad there's a community I can talk to about my new obsession. Thank you already in advanced.
