  1. In my opinion, the show's philosophy of "friendship is magic" is based on our fear of loneliness and vulnerability of the real world's unforgiving and and unpredictable atmosphere. In the show, the idea of friendship is executed more like a religion than what friendship is supposed to be: an emotional crutch. The ponies seem to believe that you're a bad person if you're not friends with literally everypony within your sight's range. The goal of these ponies appear to be make as many friends as possible, not because friendship is a nice thing to have, but a way to control others' harmful impulses so that their guards will be lowered and you don't have to worry about threats and dangers that they could pose to you. Friendship, in the show's definition, is a comfort zone that demands you stay within at all costs, and making more friendship is a survival mechanism that strengthens is in order to provide the illusion of security against the many threats, dangers, and the unknowns of the real world that's beyond our comfort zone.

All of this may seem like friendship is a selfish thing, but it's really a survival mechanism that shows that we're not alone, not just in the world around us, but in the problems that every one us have in our lives. Friendship is a way for us to share our ideas and dreams with others, and, in turn, can help us learn understand more about ourselves and make us a better person than before. It's all in the name of survival and evolving fore the future.

That's my take on it. :P

Are there non-royal alicorns? Maybe, but so far the series has only shown royal alicorns and female alicorns thus the generalizations that alicorns tend to be royalty.

Exactly! As I said in reason #2, we believe that all alicorns are royalty because of something called the "availability heuristic." Meaning that we judge something based on how many immediate examples of said thing we have. In this case, we've seen more alicorns that are royalty than those that are not, so we assumed that all alicorns are royalty, even though this logically false.

I hate alicorns OCs with a passion.

Half of them are badly written characters who lacks any kind of flaws and every other character loves them for no real reason and the other half are badly written characters who has nothing but flaws and every hates them for no real reason.

Don't blame the alicorn OCs itself; the creator of the alicorn OC didn't take the time to put in effort.

See reason #3 of my statements for details. ^^

  4. Not to mention, unbiased. :P

I really love alicorns, but what I don't like is that the majority of the brony community is biased about the stereotypes about alicorns (being royalty, immortal, all-powerful, being gods, etc.) being fact, even though there's literally been nothing in the canon show or other media confirming or disproving these claims. These stereotypes were made by the brony community itself and none of the canon sources.

  5. Ever since the beginning of the borny fandom 7 years ago, the majority of the brony community have hated alicorn OCs, calling them OP and Mary Sues without thinking. But why? In this post, I'll explain why the concept of an alicorn OCs are generally hated among the fandom and what caused it. And these reasons why are pretty much our own fault.

    1. We lack canon info

Quick! Tell me something about alicorns that's been confirmed!
    -cricket noises-
Yeah, I thought so. We've never gotten anything canon about the nature of alicorns, and where this does gives us a lot of room to come up with interesting headcanons and theories about alicorns, but it also gives us little to work with, thus, this makes it easy to makes things too simple, too complex, or even too powerful for the creator to handle.

    2. Guilty by association

If you were to ask a random brony, "What are alicorns?" you may get, "They're royalty goddesses," but is this ACTUALLY true? Most would say that it is, but the thing is, this is logically not the case. Why do we think that alicorns are royalty and whatnot? Well, this due to something called the "availability heuristic," meaning that we judge something based on how many examples of it we have. Since we've only seen alicorns that are royalty and none that aren't, we've assumed that all alicorns are royalty. We have this assumption because our brains are lazy machines that wants everything organized and simplified as much as possible. And this is not an insult, it's a biological fact of the human brain.

    3. Why Alicorn OCs are generally bad

Now, for main topic of this entry. Alicorn OCs are generally bad because it's own our lazy faults. Again, not an insult! When take reason #2 into consideration, you clearly see why alicorn OCs are bad: since we believe that they're royalty, all-powerful, immortal, etc., we feel like that half of the work is done for us and we don't think we need to put much work and effort into making the character, thus, our alicorn OCs are often are to weak as a character and/or too powerful in ability and half-assed in personality structure.

    4. Why Alicorn OCs are generally hated

On a related note, we often hate alicorn OCs on a creative level due to the laziness of their character structure (if any at all), and we have high expectations for the fandom we dedicated ourselves to. Plus, when it comes to other characters, we may associate and see ourselves as our OCs (aka ponysonas) and we don't want to feel like others can overpower us. This is because we feel we're powerful and in control when we see ourselves AS our OC(s), and we feel like we're in danger when hear about an alicorn OC because we're biased to the "community canon" that alicorns are gods and can do just about anything and we're unable to do anything to go against it, let a lot stop it.
Put simply, we hate alicorn OCs on a concept level because we don't want to feel like others can overpower us and take away our control. This hated is actually based on fear. Namely, the fear of losing control. It's a psychological defense mechanism that applies to all of us.

In the end, alicorns are no different from the other pony species. We just have to learn how to make good characters and not judge the'r race on its stereotypes alone.

    Bonus content!

I've made some explanations for some of the attributes of alicorns that we never gotten any info about (see reason #1 above), and I made sure that they're reasonable and makes logical sense. I hope you enjoy. And let me know what you think.

    1. Where did alicorns come from?

In my story, the alicorn species first started 8,000 years before the Equestrian era.
Now, back in those days, you were only allowed to have foal with another from your own species group. But, one day, a pegasus stallion and a unicorn mare developed a Romeo-and-Juliet-like relationship and had a foal that had his father's wings and his mother's horn. While some thought that this was an abomination, others thought it was a miracle. Even though this foal had wings and a horn, he was technically a hybrid because the dominate genes for the wings and horn were separate. But as the generations past, these the genetic codes for the wings and horn eventually fused together, and the first alicorn was burn and, thus, the alicorn species came to be. The alicorn species is only about 9,000 years old and it evolved quickly due to the extensive family tree containing 60% unicorns, which is where the magical attributes of the alicorn came from.
That's just my take on it. ^^

    2. Are alicorns more powerful than unicorns?

It's not that they're more power, but more like they're able to access and use magic easier. It's all due 1 simple observation: The alicorn horn is larger than the unicorn's. This larger size enables the alicorn to store and channel more magical energies, thus, it's able to cast more complex and/or powerful spells easier than a unicorn can. And believe it or not, there's something in the canon show that supports this. If you watch unicorn Twilight trying to cast a new spell in the earlier seasons, she seems to struggle with the spell. This is because she's trying to store and channel more magical energies than her horn is used to, and this can cause some minor headaches. And if you watch alicorn Twilight cast a new spell, she barely struggles because her horn is larger and able to store and channel more magical energies.
"But Starlight Glimmer's horn is a standard size for a unicorn and she casts complex and powerful spells without struggles," you may point out. This is true, but she probably have taught herself an alternate way of managing magical energies differently, not just storing it all in her horn like most unicorns/alicorns are taught to do.

Those are my theories and views on those. What are yours?

  6. For those who don't know, I'm an MLP (obviously) and Transformers fan. So much so that I wanted to make a cross over between the two for a long time. I mean, why not, right? :smug:
However, I've looked at other's attempts of this crossover many times before and they seemed to never worked out well, probably because they weren't done in a way that works since MLP and Transformers are practically polar opposites, but I think I've done it in a way that works well! :D
    My attempt is called...

    transformers__equestria_logo_by_millenni

Instead of Autobots and Decepticons, can you guess what the these factions' names are? Autoponies and Deceptiponies? Nope! How's this?

    untitled_by_millenniumshadow-d8naj7v.png

Yeah, the colors of the factions logos were changed, too. :please:
I don't have the entire story down just, but here's what I got so far:
Nightmare Moon, the leader of the Nightmares, has stolen several stasis pods to gain more followers in her quest to conquer Equestritron (this story's version of Cybertron) and the rest of the universe. But her sister, Commander Celestia, the leader of the Equestrians, gathered the rest of the stasis pods to chase after Nightmare Moon who has also stolen a ship to escape Equestritron. During the chase, Nightmare Moon warped to escape Celestia but she fallowed her in the wormhole, and both ships bumped into each other and crush landed onto an unknown small rocky planet that appeared to have life on it but either left of died out. Now with both sides stranded and their ships badly damaged, the Equestrians and Nightmares are now at war for energy and resorces to repair their ships and return to Eqestritron.
And I know it sound exactly like the first episode of Beast Wars but this story with MLP-sounding words, but it's still WIP, and it will get better. :D

Here are some of the vehicle modes I have figured out for a few of the characters. The characters in the story will be anthro, so forgive that the these images are of the regular ponies. :lie: (Also, the color of the vehicle modes in these pics will be changed to match the characters they're being applied to.)

So, how do you like this idea? :)

  7. Hello, everypony. It's been a while since I posted something, so I've decided to post my own theories of the MLP universe. Let me know what you think.

Oh, just so you know, there is a 5th theory, but it's NSFW. So, if you want to know the 5th theory, go here.

    1. The banishment of Nightmare Moon was a cover-up

From what we're told about Luna ever since the first episode of the series was that she was jealous of the attention that Celestia was getting during the day and wanted to make it an eternal night, but Celestia banished Nightmare Moon to protect everypony. But was it all a lie? I believe that there was more to the story than that.

My theory is that Celestia was actually an evil ruler that manipulated her subjects for control and power. Luna, however, wanted to expose Celestia for what she's been doing to the public. But before much could be said, Celestia either had murdered or banished Luna to keep her quiet. It actually doesn't matter if Luna was murdered or banished because she would b out of the way, either way.

After that, Celestia cast a memory-wiping spell to erase the memories of the subjects so that they'd forget of what Luna has already exposed, then she told them that Luna went rouge and had to be banished to keep everypony safe, just to keep everypony on her side. "But we see Luna later in future episodes," you might be saying. Well, when we first see Nightmare Moon in Friendship is Magic, Part 1, this was probably Celestia in disguise, and the Nightmare Moon that the Mane Six defeat in Friendship is Magic, Part 2 may have been an illusion that Celestia projected to make it appear that Nightmare Moon was defeated. Also, the Luna we see at the final few minutes of that same episode was may a copy of the original Luna. Celestia could have made this copy because she felt guilty of murdering/banishing the original Luna.

    2. Twilight eventually becomes Celestia and Luna

Have you ever noticed that Twilight seems kinda similar to Celestia and Luna and vise-versa?

Could they all be the same pony? Twilight, some time after she became an alicorn and a princess, may have went back in time to help her younger self, her friends, all of the citizens of Equestria, but when far back enough to rule Equestria, as Celesita and Luna did. To avoid any confusion, like when Twilight was talking with future Twilight in It's All About Time, she splits herself into 2: Celestia and Luna. If you pay attention to how Celestia and Luna behave, they both have similar personalities and behavior Twilight has had throughout the series. Celestia appears to have alicorn Twilight's caring and motherly personality and willing to protect everypony at all costs. Luna, on the other hoof, has pre-alicorn Twilight's more-insecure and more-cautious personality. Celestia seems very similar to alicorn Twilight because alicorn Twlight has more experience and knows how to handle situations better. Luna seems very similar to pre-alicorn Twilight because pre-alicorn Twilight was more cautious and has trouble trying to fit in and make friends with everypony, like Luna did in Luna Eclipsed.

    3. Magic is the only Element of Harmony that has power

Whenever the Elements of Harmony are involved in a plot, Magic seems to be the main and only focus, and is the first one used. It's possible that Magic is the only Element that's actually needed and the others are useless and are just for show, or the other Elements are only effective when Magic is present. During the 1st Equestria Girls movie, after Sunset Shimmer stole Twilight crown (which was Magic), Twilight showed no concern for the other Elements, and in the story prologue in Friendship is Magic, Part 1, Celestia used Magic (and no other Elements) to banish Nightmare Moon.

These 2 instances imply that the other Elements are probably useless.

    4. Spike was brainwashed and is a slave

Have you ever noticed that when Spike says he wants to do something, everypony immediately discourages, and sometimes shame, him? It's like they're doing everything they can to prevent Spike from doing something major, worried that something bad from happening, like when Spike grew and collected all that stuff in Secret of My Excess.

It may be possible that Spike was actually given to Twilight when she hatched him, but it's not apparent to him because he's is in a friendly and caring atmosphere. So, yeah, this theory suggests that friendship is actually indoctrination. XP

  8. I plan on watching all 129 MLP episodes and all 3 Equestria Girls movies.
I haven't seen all episodes. In fact, I need to catch up on a season or 2. And I haven't seen Rainbow Rocks yet. So, I will be watching episodes I've already seen.
I've calculated how long it would take me to watch all of this. It'll take me a little over 2 days to watch all of this. Since the 130th episode isn't coming till sometime in August, I'll have plenty of time. :D
Would you do this, too? :P

I was able to download an art program for it for free since it can with a free art pack.
It got Corel Painter Essentials 5.
I'm still trying to get used to using my new tablet, and drawing with it will make me feel like I'm drawing blindly.
I'm sure every new user to drawing tablet like feels this way. XP

  10. Well, then I don't mean to be rude but can you not use that word?  If you mean that it's an unfair stereotype, then just call it that.  Racism is when you're a jerk to someone because of their race, nobody is experiencing racism here just because Alicorns are not well received by most bronies.

If you want to know why a lot of people dislike them, I suggest you watch MadMunchkin's "Why I hate Alicorn OCs", the title is kinda misleading but the points she makes are good.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2LNka6P4ss

I've seen that multiple times. I do agree with it.

What I don't understand is why all alicorn OCs are accused of being Mary Sue, OP, blah, blah, blah, when the creator made them as such, disregarding the fact that any pony can be Mary Sues.

All pony breed can be good characters and whatnot.

  11. How is it racist to not like Alicorns?

And to answer your point, some people find them to be overpowered or that their existence just hurts the universe's balance.  Alicorns are essentially gods, and if your character is godlike, of course people will question it.  Especially if you have no reason to make the OC an Alicorn.  I don't mind Alicorns, I have one as a ruler for my Pony race actually, but I understand why people don't like them.  Really it's about execution, make your Alicorn have a good reason to exist and a good job for her abilities.

By "racist," I'm talking about the stereotypes being placed on alicorns. Does that clarify?

  12. Yes, alicorns ARE supposed to be a level higher and special leaders. By making an alicorn OC you make an obvious mistake of Mary Sueing at the very beginning.

With all due respect, how do you know that alicorns as "supposed to be a level higher and special leaders"? It is true that royalty (not including Sombra and Shining Armor) are alicorns, but the show doesn't state that alicorns ARE as such.

And not all alicorns are Mary Sues but they're all treated as such.

  13. The borny community literally has no reason to hate alicorns.
We have close-to-no canon info about alicorns because the show literally DOES NOT discuss them at all!
All of the alicorn stereotypes--namely, alicrons being Mary Sues, OP, having little-to-no and/or not-well-thought-out backstory, etc., etc.--were created by the brony fandom itself. And it's puzzling and upsetting why it's the alicorn OCs that always get accused of being said stereotypes.
And the brony community judges alicorns by looking at them without getting to know them.
The brony fandom is about friendship and the acceptance of others, but the treatment and hatred the alicrons have been getting ever since the dawn of the brony community suggests otherwise. And this treatment and hatred of alicorns is not only wrong and hypocritical, it's racist!
So, as an alicorn, let me ask you bronies: Where's the alicorn hate coming from? :(
