gaming Are video game villains(Most of them) really evil?
Titan Rising replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in Media Discussion
Its been said before that its all about the perspective of the player, personally I don't think anyone is truly evil. Although... Ganondorf might come close -
Well said. Happiness will never come from hating anyone. It's just a waste of time

Caring about me, when there isn't much reason
Titan Rising commented on Kyoshi Frost Wolf's blog entry in Well, that was disappointing
Learn to enjoy the journey, don't focus so much on the destination because it isn't really important at all. Accept yourself and chase your goals. Fighting to defeat yourself is the most rewarding process I think, in the process you find out what you're really capable of and you can use that knowledge to chase your goals. I used to have the same sort of mindset as you did, and thinking this way has helped me a lot... But if you don't want any advice then just ignore me. -
Super Mario World Review
Titan Rising commented on Poncebora's blog entry in Sony-Playstation's Game Reviews and More
Design and World design are 3 and 2 because it uses too many mario cliches... but the most overused one of all, the plot of rescuing peach, gets a 6?? I mean I think the games a 10 across the boards but comon.. Also can you really give it such low scores for being cliche when at the time most all the concepts in that game were relatively new? -
Samus. I love her story and she's one of my favorite characters of all time. I prefer the Zelda games I think but Link isn't as much a character as he is a reflection of the player so as a character I prefer Samus.

gaming Super Smash Bros 4 is an incomplete game. Who do you blame? Sakurai or the fans?
Titan Rising replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in Media Discussion
I don't care about the single player mode story. I just want to play online. Unfortunately as it is right now it doesn't look as competitive as I hoped it would be. Why? I have no idea. I don't know why Sakurai wants to limit the learning curve of this game -
Those are some great poems but they're all so short. I think I've read Emily Dickens and the other Poe one before also. My second favorite poem is probably "Ulysses", I especially love the ending of it even though I only heard about it when I went to see Skyfall

I'm not a huge poetry guy but I recently read "The Raven" again and got so much more out of it than the last time I remember hearing it. It's probably my favorite poem now because of how well it speaks about despair and sadness and hope to some extent. And it's so beautifully written. I also love how it shows how a small thing can set someone off under the wrong circumstances. This character arguing back and forth arguing with himself and battling his own despair until he finally gives in to it. It's honestly got to be one of the saddest things I've ever read. Well I don't know what else to say about it. Anyone else know any other good poems?

All the books listed here are pretty advanced.. I would recommend Ayn Rand's "atlas shrugged", not because I necessarily agree with the philosophy she promotes or even that its a good book, but it makes you think about certain things. I think it's a very good place to start.

agreed... but i still think its dumb to try to colonize other planets when we still don't know all that much about our own -
Is our society designed to prevent friendship?
Titan Rising replied to Justin_Case001's topic in General Discussion
There's a balance that has to be preserved I think, and that is: hope for the best, expect the worst. In a way we have to expect the worst in order to protect ourselves and the people in our lives, but if we do so out of fear and we take it too far then it will prevent us from making new friends as well as decay the friendships we already have. By the latter Im referring to how people will often waste their lives worrying about dying or getting hurt rather than seeking new horizons and friendships can grow stagnant and safe (for lack of a better word) in the process- 21 replies

Is our society designed to prevent friendship?
Titan Rising replied to Justin_Case001's topic in General Discussion
The answer to your question is yes. Maybe its a result of "the american dream" but it seems to me that this society we have created has decided to place pleasure above all else. What has this resulted in? Paranoia. Everyone thinks everyone is out to steal their pleasure because everyone puts pleasure on a pedestal above all else. So people become less trusting of each other in general: they are less hopeful that their neighbors will become their friends. Friendships become stagnant the minute that interests no longer coincide. It becomes too much of a hassle to see what your friends are doing when you're off doing your own thing. Even families are torn apart by this. For the longest time the only things I would do with my family are watch tv and eat dinner. The truth is I hated every second of it and part of the reason I've set off on my own little journey now is to break this cursed habit. Friendship is not everything though. What I would suggest to you is to set off on your own journey. Don't seek out people to be friends with, that will happen over time without you even realizing it. As the song goes - lifes a journey not a destination - I believe this wholeheartedly. Lifes about setting goals and climbing as high as you can, and you'll meet people along the way - ones that lift you up and ones that you'll lift up as well. But if you don't climb at all yourself and just wait for someone else to come along and help you up it may not happen... I hope that made sense. I try giving advice sometimes but I guess it comes off too much as preachy and I don't think people agree with me too much- 21 replies

The 3d version of it was really good. To anyone going to go see it I would definitely recommend the 3d also, it's probably the best 3d film ive seen so far -
movies/tv Favorite Show That Ended Prematurely
Titan Rising replied to Shanks's topic in Media Discussion
Teen Titans, but im not sure if that ended prematurely. If not that then... Chuck -
I don't think it was ever designed as a show for kids or young girls. Lauren Faust seems wise enough to me to not create a show that targets a specific age group, I believe she knows how pointless and how much of a waste of time that would be to her talents. Still, if the show did target a specific demographic at any point then it has done well enough of a job for me to not view it as such. I can't remember who it was exactly, but I believe it was C.S. Lewis who had written some of my favorite quotes on the subject of "children's stories" and their real value. The truth is I hate the term "children's stories" with a passion because it downplays the value of the literature (or in this case art form). At the same time it makes me sad that people do not wish to show any appreciation to it. For a show like this that has such a stigma attached to it I feel particularly sad. Although the theme is repetitive it has value both as a cartoon and as a work of art that should cause the viewer to think, unlike many of the more popular cartoons now that do neither. To bring it back to the point of the thread - I don't like what you're suggesting. If the show has not been suitable for teenagers from the beginning then it certainly should not change for them in the slightest. I don't feel as though the season 4 finale was more mature than any other episode, we've seen fights before; If the show tries to become something that it's not and begins to target a demographic instead of simply create a cartoon that anyone should be able to appreciate I can't imagine it still having the same appeal that makes me want to watch it now

movies/tv "How To Train Your Dragon 2" Rating - 94/100
Titan Rising replied to PonyFunk's topic in Media Discussion
One of the best movie sequels of all time I think. Personally I prefer the first one better though. I'd probably give the second one a 90/100 rating just for some things that I felt should have been more fleshed out. The movie should have been 20 minutes longer, spaced some events out a little bit more, and I felt the tragedy that occured could have been done a lot better. It was missing something. And yeah I don't understand why they spoiled the movie in the commercials like that, although it doesn't really ruin the movie or anything. All said and done, can't wait for the next one. -
gaming [Mario Kart 8] Favorite / Least Favorite Tracks
Titan Rising replied to Gardepede's topic in Media Discussion
My favorite is the one in the clouds followed maybe by moo moo meadows just for the soundtrack. I used to love the older rainbow road tracks, especially snes and n64 and they might be my favorites of all time, but I'm not a fan of the ones in this game. The remake of rainbow road from n64 is so short
