  1. I think it depends on how further redemptions are executed. I really haven't had a problem with any save for Sunset Shimmer, who I was hoping they'd kill (for trying to kill Twilight), but apparently accepted her apology. Then I decided that maybe they really think she's legitimately sorry, in which case, I'm fine with it. Then again, I'm not really expecting them to have any villains actually die by the hooves of the protagonists, since this is a kids show and I guess they think that showing the good guys killing the villains will mess the kids watching up, which I don't agree with but whatever.

When they start redeeming remorseless villains who don't desire to change other than for selfish reasons, then I'll complain.

  2. Well lets see, I've nearly drowned at least one time, nearly been hit by a car on multiple occassions I think, my bipolar brother attempted to strangle me to death a couple months ago, and I probably many other situations I'm forgetting. I guess all those times I've slipped and hit my head on ice could've killed me but fortunately didn't (not even seriously injured me).

  3. I'd only want it to last that long if it could maintain the around the same level of quality writing that it currently has. But I really doubt that the writers could maintain it that long without running out of good ideas for episodes. I think eventually it'd just get to a point where it's obvious that the show is being milked for what it's worth, and it'd no longer be worth watching. I'd rather it end at season 4 if that means it doesn't go downhill to craptown. Sometimes less is better.

  4. Maybe it's only me, I doubt it however, but either way, this seriously needs to be worked on, as I don't think it's a good thing when someone with an account on this forum cannot contact the administrator. I don't think that provides any benefit to the healthiness of this forum, if anything, it has the opposite effect. So, for the forums sake, I ask that this be worked on.

I hope it just me though.

  5. Alright, I hope you really are open to criticism, because here goes:

Basically you're problem is proportions, lines, just the way it all looks in general. It looks as if you're using paint program to do art, I personally wouldn't do that, I'm not saying good art can't be done through paint program, but I just wouldn't personally. I have no advice if you want to learn how to do real painting art, but if you want to draw, I do. let's start with easy art, basically like MLP:FIM's artstyle: Use a normal HB pencil, and have a reference to try and replicate as best you can, you don't need to do 100% accuracy, but what you want is to AT LEAST have a hard time seeing the difference between your version and the original. Try this:

    rainbow_dash_lean_by_stayeend-d5qdsd2.pn

Draw it over and over until you manage to borderline 100% replicate this reference, till you can barely tell the difference between yours and the original, do that and then post your result, then I guess we'll move on to something harder. And when I say replicate, I mean ever last little insignificant detail, in this case since there's not really any minor details that could be left out and not make too much of a difference.

  6. Whether or not those names linked by RWB are real, I think these should be their names, if anything:

    Applejack: Courtney

    Rarity: Victoria

    Pinkie Pie: Holly-Ann

    Fluttershy: Laura

    Rainbow Dash: Roxxane

I could probably think of other names, but I think these fit well.

  7. Chances are if it wasnt about ponies and was a completely separate thing its not a case of I wouldn't try it its just I dont think I would have even known it existed. The only places Iv seen things related to Equestria girls is within the fandom so If Equestria girls was its own thing and not about ponies most of us probably wouldnt even know about it.

They're probably going to advertise it on television at some point, I imagine those who watch T.V would see it, but those of us who don't probably would never know about this movie's existence, unless it got popular on the internet.

  8. Well, it's introducing two new characters, so there's plenty of possibility for new structure in regards to content. Even then, the film's premise in itself is still good as a stand-alone - I'd still be pretty interested to see what happens when an animal, having lived as an animal for so long, is made a human, and how it reacts to the vastly different norms of life in comparison to their own. But it would still be very much less interesting if my favourite TV characters played no part in it.

I was thinking more like the characters being humanoid aliens who entered a portal to the human world and became humans, and had to adjust to life as a human, but them being talking animals is an alternative, but either way, it's just eh to me. Maybe if the trailer seemed like it'd be a funny movie, I'd be interested, but even in that regard it failed as it seems like it has a more serious plot.

I think the movie looks AWESOME and i cant wait to see it biggrin.png I feel like im the only person who thinks like this though tongue.png oh well

You're not smile.png lots of people seem to be interested in it, I think either most or at least half of bronies are interested in it, but I'm not sure.

  9. This guy has it right. Half the appeal of Equestria Girls will be how it pertains to FiM. We can assume the characters will be exactly the same in terms of personality to their equine equivalents, and we've followed and bonded with those same characters over three years. Without that tie, it would simply lose so much value interest.

Which makes me concerned for how this movie will turn out, the writers of MLP are good, but really, I don't think it speaks positively about this movie if one's sole interest in it is based on it's relation to another show. I'm not saying it's gonna suck, I think it could turn out good, but the trailer and premise lacking in any interesting content beyond it's connection to FIM is not a good thing. However, at the same time, it's connection to FIM suggests it will be good, ironically.

  10. I would try it but I wouldn't go to the movie theaters to see it, I'll probably just get a torrent. Well before I was a brony, when I saw something MLP and I wondered why someone would watch that so I gave the show a chance. Now I am a brony. So I'll give it a chance but I am not gonna spend money on it because that is the only way of defying Hasbro's schemes.

Ya, I get that MLP may not have had anything that would appeal to a lot of us if we saw a trailer for it, (I'll admit I only gave it a chance just because I had read cupcakes and wanted something pleasant to take my mind off that abomination, as well as curiosity as to why the show was popular, not because I had any interest in the premise of the show), but I'm asking if you guys would give it a chance just based on the premise, I imagine if it got popular enough a lot of us would give it a chance just based on that, just like MLP.

  11. .....if it had nothing to do with MLP:FIM? Like, if it had a completely different set of characters from a completely different setting, but with the same plot of a non-human going to the human world and yada yada? I'm just curious. I personally don't think anything about this movie interests me except for the fact that it's connected to MLP, and I think that speaks negatively about my thoughts on this movie.

  12. Yeah, well, that's it, exactly img-1504393-1-tongue.png Why do you think Hasbro is catering to this? Why do you think they look -exactly- like Monster High Dolls? Because that's the precise toyline Hasbro is marketing to compete against. Monster High is made by Mattel, one of the other rival toy companies. How do you compete with competitors? You either make something else that sells just as well or better, or you make something similar, that sells better, due to leverage you have. MLP ponies turned human in a high school setting > Some stupid monsters turned human in a high school setting.

You can hate the designs all you want, I won't say I particularly care for them either, but, once again, people need to be reminded that we're not, never were and never will be the target audience, and thusly Hasbro -has- to do something with the girly stereotypes in order to compete with toys sometimes, since that's what other companies still do for little girls. I get that Lauren is upset over Hasbro deciding to go with those girly stereotypes, but, by that same taken, at least Hasbro had the decency and effort to make a blatant spin-off we bronies can and should ignore (assuming we don't find at least the animated movie good), instead of forcing the main series into these competitive stereotypes.

Note: I've merged 'Lauren.exe' with 'Equestria Girls Toys [prototypes]', as the former is just an update reaction from Lauren about the same subject.

Ya, but the monster high dolls are actually GOOD as well as accurate:

    monsterhigh.jpg

    Monster_High_dolls.jpg

Seriously, I know the EQG dolls are just the prototypes, but if they're any indication on how the finalized versions will look, than they got NOTHING on monster high dolls, IMO. I really don't see hasbro winning against mattel here.

  13. I don't think it is, didn't her and Twilight just become friendly? It wouldn't make much sense if that were the case I think, and I'd rather have a new character/villain than have this Sunset Shimmer be a disguised Trixie. huh.png

According to a new novel released, Twilight Sparkle and The Crystal Heart spell, she's suddenly bad again. She teams up with gilda to con the crystal ponies I believe, and they give Twilight bad advice on how to be a ruler.

  14. I think they'll keep the same personalities, probably (considering the fact that Rainbow Dash, for example, in the trailer was shown playing a sport, something that's I don't imagine most people see as a stereotypical girly thing, and that there'd be no point in using the characters but not their personalities, as those are what make them who they are), but I agree the designs are terrible in that they all look too damn similar. I don't think they all look bad, but the lack of serious variety is lame, IMO, it harms their visual uniqueness to some extent.

  15. So, I looked at the submission rule, my take on each one:

    • Pornography: We don't accept pornography or offensive depictions of graphic sexual acts.(Ca
    • Offensive Content: We don’t accept offensive content, including but not limited to racial slurs, excessively graphic or violent material, or excessive use of foul language.(Tackling both these at once, it looks like a good idea on paper to establish these rules, but what about works that the source material contains these things, especially the later for horror works. Does that mean people can't have things lopped off in a Highlander fic, despite that happening in even the prime-time Tv Show?)

    • Illegal and Infringing Content: We take violations of laws and proprietary rights very seriously. It is the authors' responsibility to ensure that their content doesn't violate laws or copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights.(I really have no idea what this means when the fanfic does that by nature)

    • Poor Customer Experience: We don't accept books that provide a poor customer experience. Examples include poorly formatted books and books with misleading titles, cover art, or product descriptions. We reserve the right to determine whether content provides a poor customer experience.(Nice rule)
    •
    • Excessive Use of Brands: We don’t accept the excessive use of brand names or the inclusion of brand names for paid advertising or promotion.(Define Excessive?)

    • Crossover: No crossovers from other Worlds are permitted, meaning your work may not include elements of any copyright-protected book, movie, or other property outside of the elements of this World.(So, you're alienating about have of all fanfic, then)?

       It also says:

when you submit your story in a World, you are granting Amazon Publishing an exclusive license to the story and all the original elements you include in that story. This means that your story and all the new elements must stay within the applicable World. We will allow Kindle Worlds authors to build on each other's ideas and elements. We will also give the World Licensor a license to use your new elements and incorporate them into other works without further compensation to you.

    and:

World Licensors have provided Content Guidelines for each World, and your work must follow these Content Guidelines. We strongly encourage you to read the Content Guidelines before you commit the time and effort to write.

So, yeah, the fine print almounts to "we're going giving you so many limitations it will make your head spin and give you the shaft as far as author's rights"

Speak of the devil, that's exactly the case, see my above post for the full run down of what the terms of use page says about the rules of the service.

So basically the fanfic has to work with the canon lore of the original author's universe? Well, that's probably a crap ton of fanfics that will never be allowed to published. I guess I see the logic, the original author only wants stuff that adds onto his or her lore will not contradicting it, but eh, when I'm reading fanfiction I don't care that it contradicts canon, because it's fanfiction. It's a good idea tho, the author get's more lore added to his or her fictional world without having to write it themselves, and they get to control what gets in and what doesn't, AND they get to use that new lore if they want for their own future works.

Sucks for all the fanfic writers who want their stories published but they can't because it contradicts the original author's canon, but they could just write their own fictional setting and characters and apply whatever plot they had in their fanfic, and get that published. Maybe. You'd be getting 100% of the profits too.

  16. Alright, I'm not gonna be like a certain artist from another forum who I made a request to and never gave me my request despite me having said he would do it, and just outright say it, I'm having trouble doing some of these requests, unfortunately : /. As I've been drawing these requests, I've learned that it's difficult to draw something you don't really find interesting, or at least not interesting enough. I could, theoretically, but there's a good change that it would be lacking in the love department, which is mandatory for my drawings to be the best I can make them, or to even be good at all.

I'm not saying I won't ever do all of these requests, it's just......difficult to motivate myself when I'm faced with something I have no desire to put onto paper. If I don't want to do it, then there's no point, the end result will most likely be crap. I dunno what to do, I'm not sure if I wanna say I'm only gonna draw OC's that interest me, because I don't wanna exclude people just for that, but at the same time, it's not gonna be worth it to draw OC's I don't wanna draw. To be fair tho, one of the OC's I've drawn so far has been one I didn't wanna draw, and it turned out to be one of my best drawings ever, and I'm very pleased with the result, but as I said it's not impossible, so yeah.

That, and I'm on a realistic art binge atm, and I don't know when I'll be interested in drawing cartoony again. I have a feeling it's not gonna be for a long while......I do plan on finishing these requests at some point, but I'm not making any promises, for any of them, even the ones I do want to draw. I think what I'll do is, when I'm back to drawing OC's, if ever, I'll attempt to draw ones that don't interest me, and if I just can't motivate myself, I'll tell the person. No I don't like excluding people, but it's not fair to the people with OC's I want to draw to not draw their OC's just because I don't wanna draw certain other people's OC's.

So that's all I got to say for now. Hopefully no one's upset by this.

  17. I'm more pissed that their in high school. I always assumed they were in their early twenties. Think about it, they all have jobs and live on their own. Rarity is a business owner for Christ sake.

I've found it odd that they've chosen a high school setting partly because Lauren Faust, I believe, said they were all young adults, so making them high school students is an odd choice. But that can just be explained as the portal made Twilight younger as well as human.

    • Brohoof 1
  18. I would have given them normal looking skin colors, and would probably get rid of those weird looking boots and just give them normal looking footwear, something that speaks to their personalities and not have them all wear boots that are basically clones of each other like some sort of weird fashion style in this setting. Rainbow Dash would wear sneakers, Pinkie and Twilight would wear normal shoes or sandals (with no socks), Applejack cowboy boots, Fluttershy sandals (with no socks) Rarity high heeled boots or high heeled sandals.

    Or just something like this:

    img-1473376-1-mlp_the_mane_6_by_sapphire

I think they should have more variety in their attire, basically. As for their races, I don't really care, but I'd prefer:

    Applejack, Fluttershy and Pinkie: white

    Rarity: white or black

    Twilight: latino, asian or white

    Rainbow Dash: latino or white

  19. It's King Sombra, after his death he was reincarnated as a teenage boy in a new world, with no memories of his past life. And now he meets Twilight Sparkle again, and love slowly blossoms. But the skeletons in Sombra's closet threaten to re-emerge, and if they do, it could threaten this relationship with Twilight. Will Sombra's dark past emerge, will he and Twilight find out that he was once such a horrid monster? Will it destroy everything they've built between themselves, or will true love overcome a dark past?

  20. Except that's a very bad attitude to have that will run a company into the ground like the Technodrome. This isn't one guy, or a small team making a web-comic or web series.  This is a huge company with hundreds of thousands of dollars hinging on every decision they make.

"Not caring what people think" is what happened to the Simpsons, they got to a point where they dis-regarded everything(even valid criticism) because they got too dependent on that attitude.

I love pissing off racists and bigots as much as the next person, but we must be wary of the author tract and not do it in a way that disrupts the work.

And that's exactly where I'm coming from. This is not an independant stand-alone little project. This is a business, and a big dollar corporation. They can't simply follow the rules of creativity, or there is no opportunity to show that creativity. This is people's jobs, not hobbies. Passion, yes, but careers. They take this seriously. And if all the decision does is piss off a couple men, then that it the least harmful decision. So why wouldn't they take that route?

Alright, I get it, those racists pay them money too. I still think it's stupid that they should have to do that in the first place. Writers should be free to do what they please with their work (with obvious lines they should not cross, like trying to preach something immoral through their writing), instead of being forced to be "politically correct" just to appeal to idiots. But whatever keeps the cash flowing I guess.
