I also watched EQG before I properly started watching the show. I liked the first film when I first watched it, but now I don't really think it is as good as the other films in the series. Rainbow Rocks was in my opinion an amazing film, and Friendship Games was almost as good. Legend of Everfree was alright, I guess. The three 22 minute episodes were great, too. The only problem I have with the series is that the villains are starting to get a bit repetitive. Almost all of the villains are transformed versions of some girl, and they always get defeated in the exact same way, then reformed.

Rate the Equestria Girls Movies
strangepigeon replied to Feather Scribbles's topic in Equestria Girls
It's been a while since I watched some of these films, but I'll rate them anyway. I think I would have to give it about a 6 out of 10. I don't really think it's as bad as others think it is. Now compared to the newer films it is sort of boring. It's just your average animated movie set in a high school, but with ponies. I really, really love Rainbow Rocks. The songs are amazing (I actually bought the soundtrack I loved them so much), the villains were interesting, and the animation looked amazing. The designs for the Dazzlings looked really good. Sunset was also awesome in this film! I would give it an 8 out of 10. Friendship Games was also good, but I don't know if it was as good as Rainbow Rocks. The songs were almost on par with the ones in Rainbow Rocks. It was more colourful than the other two films, but probably only to promote the toys. Twilight's human version had a good story arc, but the other new characters from Crystal Prep didn't really do much other than be background characters. I think it deserves a 7 out of 10. Legend of Everfree had a few good songs, but most of them sounded the same. Maybe I just don't like that type of music as much. I found it less interesting, probably because I hate camping. The new villain was cool, but she was just a repeat of Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle's evil forms. It was just another one of those kids films that happens to be set in a camp. I think it still deserves maybe a 6.5 or 7 out of 10, though. I actually watched the first Equestria Girls movie before I properly started watching the show. It kind of encouraged me to start watching the show. I know it is just a generic high school series made to sell crappy dolls, but I still love it. Sunset Shimmer has really grown on me, now she is one of my favourite ponies in the entire franchise! -
Seriously, where is the original human Sunset Shimmer?
strangepigeon replied to Feather Scribbles's topic in Equestria Girls
I've been thinking about this for a while. Actually, a couple of years ago I tried to write a crappy fanfiction on Sunset's counterpart where she decided to go to Canterlot High and ended up coming across Pony Sunset. I never actually finished it. I agree with others who say she just lives in another town. Somewhere online I once saw people joking that Pony Sunset had killed her counterpart, but obviously that will never become canon. Hopefully they'll show her counterpart in the new YouTube series or another movie, without making it seem repetitive, because they already had a story arc where they showed Twilight's human counterpart. -
They probably left out some stuff so people would buy the comics and books, and download the app and buy all of the micro-transactions so they could understand everything better. I didn't realise they had left some backstory out until yesterday. I knew the prequel comic existed, but I didn't think I had to buy it to get more of the movie's plot. Now I want to buy it, so their marketing is working on me.

This show looks like it is going to be great! I'm glad we are going to get to see Zephyr Breeze again. If this is a YouTube series, that means it is going to be free, right? I think there are some YouTube series that you have to pay for, but I'm not sure if you have to or not. I think I would rather get another movie, but a series is still cool too.

spoiler Is Sunset getting closer to appearing in FIM?
strangepigeon replied to KillerKingBakudan's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
That would be cool if Sunset got to appear in the main show. I really do hope they show more ponies in EQG, too. I gave up hope on the chance of her being in the show, because I always thought they were trying to keep EQG as a separate franchise. Now that it has basically been confirmed as canon in the main show and that Sunset did go to Equestria for about a minute in Mirror Magic, I think that means we might see her in the show one day. This might be true, because I've seen a few people on this site who haven't touched any of the EQG movies or shorts, but then it'll just encourage them to watch them just so they can understand what is happening in the main show.- 31 replies

rainbow rocks Are We Ever Going to See the Dazzlings Again?
strangepigeon replied to Octavia_Melody2's topic in Equestria Girls
They might make an appearance in another Equestria Girls short. They might even get reformed! I really love their designs, and their singing voices. If you didn't already know, there's a really good comic on their backstory. I can't remember the issue number or anything, but if you look it up, you might find it. -
Maybe the humans just happen to wear a piece of clothing that matches their pony counterpart's Cutie Mark or something, or maybe the humans choose a piece of clothing that matches their personality, and one of the images on it appears as their pony counterpart's Cutie Mark? I'm trying to think of a good explanation for Cutie Marks in the human world.

My personal favourite MLP songs are This Day Aria (I've known all the lyrics off by heart for about two years now), the Magic Inside, You'll Play Your Part, Hope Shines Eternal, The Spectacle and I'll Fly. There are more that I love that I can't list off of my head right now. I don't understand why some people don't like the music in the show. Almost every song is awesome! Edit: The post below mine also reminded me of some other MLP songs I really like, like BBBFF, Flawless and Luna's Future.

spoiler Am I the only one who didn't like SIAbird?
strangepigeon replied to KillerKingBakudan's topic in My Little Pony: The Movie (2017)
I agree that she didn't really do much in the film except sing a song that I thought was alright. I expected her to have a bigger role, but now I realise she's just in the movie to attract more viewers, since she is a really big singer. I would have preferred to see her too. Songbird Serenade felt almost exactly like RaRa, but without any personality. It would have been cool if she actually did something else in the film that actually mattered. Sia needed to provide the catchy pop song at the end which most other animated films have, probably.- 18 replies

I don't really think that the movie is the best way to introduce someone to the world of MLP:FIM. It felt like a film that was designed for existing fans of the show, since there were references to other episodes and other things like that. They did try to introduce the main characters to the audience at the start, but they didn't introduce the world of Equestria. All we saw was a bit of Canterlot at the start and end, for the rest of the film the Mane 6 were out of Equestria. The film just starts while the characters are preparing for this friendship festival, which newcomers might not understand if they don't get the show's theme about friendship, or haven't read the prequel comic. It might encourage new people to join the fandom and watch the show, but those people probably aren't going to be watching it, unless they were dragged to the cinema by a child or friend. The plot was good, but it reminded me of a lot of other animated films, so someone might expect MLP:FIM to just be another generic kids' show. The music and the characters might just attract people, though. I think this film was made for fans of the show, both old and young to watch and to also attract new fans in the target audience so they will buy MLP toys. Little girls would probably watch this film anyway, just for the colourful ponies and princesses. I agree with this statement, too. I think that if you wanted to introduce someone who isn't a young girl to the series, you might want to show them one of the season openers/finales, or just the first episode of the series, so they can be fully introduced to the characters from the beginning.

S07:E22 - Once Upon A Zeppelin
strangepigeon replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 7 Discussion
I really enjoyed this episode! I did not expect Iron Will to return, I didn't even recognise his voice at the beginning, but that was probably because I watched a version with crappy sound quality. It was nice seeing Twilight's family all together on holiday. I loved the character of Star Tracker, too. The ponies in the background all looked really interesting and had nice colours. I think I would give this episode an 8 out of 10. -

I saw the film yesterday. It was the first showing of the day. I think the cinema was about three quarters full, but only with little girls and their mothers. There weren't any bronies there, probably because it was a showing in the middle of the day, when most people are at work. They actually showed a short before the film. I can't remember the name of it. It wasn't that good, to be honest. The actual film was really good. It wasn't the best animated film of all time or anything. I don't think people who have never watched the show are going to like it. The songs were great, the celebrity voice actors did really good jobs singing. There were plenty of popular background pony cameos. DJ PON-3, Lyra, Sweetie Drops, Derpy, Trixie, Cheese Sandwich and Starlight Glimmer all made appearances. The new characters were interesting, too. The movie focused more on Twilight than the rest of the Mane 6. If you're a Fluttershy fan, you might be disappointed, because she was pretty much useless in this film. I think I would give it about a 7.5 out of 10. It did feel really weird watching MLP on the big screen, when I am so used to watching it on the television.
