  1. Are you sure his name isn't Donut Steele? Anyways, here's two OCs that I'm working on (these are the preliminary designs that I plan to finalize once I get a bit better at drawing ponies): Name: Radar Sweep (My ponysona) Type: Pegasus Gender: Bi-Gender (Assigned Male At Birth) Appearance: Haze Gray coat, mane is alternating blue & gold stripes (lengthwise), Blue eyse, slightly taller & skinnier than average, rather androgynous appearance. Tends to wear mane in pigtails (either braided similarly to the mares in Our Town or loose) or a bit more fancy when in girl mode as opposed to the loose style they wear it in in boy mode. Cutie Mark: Gold US Navy Fire Controlman Rating insignia ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_controlman) Hobbies: Messing around with electrical & electronic circuits, drawing, making electronic music (has been known to work with DJ Pon-3 on occasion & has built some of her equipment), fashion, reading, other arts & crafts. Additional Details: Aside from their non-binary gender, Radar is a rather unusual Pegasus, not being particularly interested in sports, and an average flyer, they are far more in tune with the Pegasus race's innate magic & has studied various theoretical treatises to improve their understanding & ability to manipulate weather phenomena & use them for their purposes. One such project was trapping miniature storm clouds in specially prepared jars to act as power sources for their devices as well as a miniature tornado to power a miniature wind turbine for more power-demanding projects. They served for several years in the Royal Equestrian Navy as an artillery spotter (for the shipboard cannons) & messenger. After getting out, they got an associate's degree in applied magic from the Canterlot University & got a job working as a civilian technician repairing some of the more advanced magical weaponry for the Equestrian military. While they currently live in a medium sized-town NW of Baltimare, they do occasionally travel to Canterlot on Business (and to buy dresses on sale at Rarity's Canterlot Carousel) as well as a weekly trip to Ponyville for therapy sessions with Dr. Wolf (no seriously, the dude sounds almost exactly like my RL therapist). Name: Aurora Shine Type: Unicorn Gender: Female Appearance: Sky blue coat, gold mane, gold eyes (I know the pic has green, but I decided that gold would look better after I made this with the pony maker), average build. Tends to wear a lab coat most of the time. Cutie Mark: Black NPN Transitor symbol ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipolar_junction_transistor#NPN) Hobbies: Messing around with electrical & electronic circuits, books, bonsai, rock collecting. Additional Details: Works as staff for Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, mainly tuning & maintaining magical devices as well as researching new ones. Lives in Canterlot, but likes to travel & do sight-seeing in the surrounding area on weekends. Has a rather reserved, polite personality, even if she isn't super friendly due to being caught up in her work most of the time. These are basically the start of the crew for this story idea I've been kicking around called "Friendship is Science" that has the crew using science and friendship (i.e. teamwork) to solve various problems they come across.....
  2. This is probably why this episode really spoke to me: I've been having a really rough time of it over the past year, where it seems like life has repeatedly knocked me down & took my lunch money (metaphorically speaking), and I've lost most of my self confidence as well as been constantly struggling against just giving in to the gaping abyss of despair that is constantly pulling at me. So yeah, I can definitely relate to how Daring Do feels during this episode (particularly with how my ex-wife did her best to smear my name after she left, which is basically what Caballeron did to Daring Do).
  3. I rather enjoyed this episode, aside from some minor issues with the writing (but then again, the way I see it, if I had any talent whatsoever, I'd be on the writing staff rather than working as a faceless goon for the military-industrial complex, so I try to not be too critical ), I really dug the story. Here I was speculating about whether it would be about Daring Do actually retiring for this reason or that, only to be blind-sided by the reason being that Daring's Hero Insurance(tm) had essentially expired & it was kinda like what happened at the beginning of Hancock, The Incredibles or The Legend of Korra where they deconstruct the whole thing about how the heroes can destroy half the city & nopony complains or is upset about it. I especially liked the part at the end where Daring Do uses her massive fortune from the novels she wrote to make good on all the stuff she messed up in the process of saving the town. Now, aside from all that, I must say that I REALLY liked the story of Somnambula & the Sphynx and I really like Somnambula's design and the theme of hope behind the story. Furthermore, when they mentioned Glowpaz, that immediately got my attention, since I own a copy of Trixie and the Razzle-Dazzle Ruse, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that this episode was written by the same person. Nice to see that Glowpaz is fully canon, though. Definitely going to watch it again.
  4. As a I entirely agree and I have rather high hopes for this episode in particular. I've been a fan of Daring Do since I watched Read it and Weep and I'm certainly looking forwards to seeing more of her this episode. I wonder, though, if she'll be just retiring for writing the books or adventuring as well, along with whether the retirement will stick or be the 15-minute kind you usually see in this kind of show?
  5. That speech was one of my favorite moments in the episode: I mean just the other day we have someone posting in the forum about how Starlight has essentially lost her unique personality to become more or less a Twilight clone, yet here we have her do something very similar to what she would have done pre-reformation (heck, she even SOUNDED like her old self), yet she was doing it for a GOOD cause, like she's finally starting to get her confidence back & step out from her mentor's shadow & find her own way of spreading friendship. I also like how she managed to avoid the temptation to try solving the problem with magic this time around. Trixie was entertaining as usual: I was expecting some prime cuts of ham & scenery chewing from her, and she did not disappoint (of course we also got some LITERAL scenery chewing courtesy of Pharynx). Trix definitely seems to be shaping up as a Byronic/anti-hero: She seems to mean well, but her ego & other flaws tend to get in the way, even if she does come around in the end. I'm definitely looking forward to her getting more development as a character. Pharynx was an awesome source of prime snark & was more savage than Macho Man Randy, and I'm glad that both him & the rest of the swarm were able to come around & see that both sides had valid points. Definitely going to be watching this one again.
  6. I hear you! I'm just glad that I'm fortunate enough to live only about 2 hours away from Baltimore, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make it either....
  7. I would totally buy a deck of MLP playing cards, and Rarity is definitely the Queen of Diamonds (and other assorted gems).
  8. This! Not to mention any similar ships that could get Chris Hansen asking you to sit down at a table across from him... (e.g. Luna x Pipsqueak). I also have an extreme dislike for any ships between family members, no matter how distant the relation might be (looking at you, Marble-Mac): This is My Little Pony, NOT Deliverance, for Celestia's sake! (Although, granted, we do have the hillbilly ponies in that village from Somepony to Watch Over Me as well as the feuding pseudo-West Virginia clans in the Smoky Mountains in The Hooffields & McColts......)
  9. I knew there was a reason I like you. I think all those are definitely worthy for the cutest ponies in the show (and Rarity as well), but I'd also like to add that I find Twilight & Starlight, particularly when they're being really adorkable to be incredibly cute as well:
  10. I really love this pic (I'll admit it: I ship Star-Trix like FedEx) Anyways. I'm here because I really like Trixie and thought that, even though I found her to be rather annoying during her first appearance, she ended up getting punished way worse than she actually deserved. Needless to say, I was really excited when "No Second Prances" was announced last year & I really love the dynamic Trixie & Starlight have going between them: They both not only complement each other's personalities well, but their friendship has also helped them both grow into better ponies and I really like that. I really liked "All Bottled Up" because it essentially confirmed the theory (partially based on a video from Agrol Channel) that Trixie actually did have some significant magical talent, but was a bit too lazy/easily distracted to actually learn more advanced spells until properly motivated (or in the episode, got a really patient teacher). That said, I still absolutely love Agrol's "Must be Better" video: I found this rather amusing image while searching for pics relating to Starlight & kites, but it so well captures Trixie's character I had to post it here: First half of the Secondary 6? http://fav.me/db7k4bc Also, I have this image, my favorite scene from the season 6 finale as my desktop (and I had it as my FB background image for a while: This is the moment when Trixie goes from being just a boastful show pony to being a real hero (albeit still a very boastful & hammy hero, but a hero nonetheless), thanks to her first great & powerful friendship... A friendship that helped save Equestria. To quote what Twilight said to Starlight at the end of season 5: "If you're willing to learn, I'm willing to teach you what I know. You'll have the power to make Equestria a better place. Starting is easy: All you have to do is make a friend." And one last funny Trixie pic before I go: http://fav.me/db607mw
  11. This year's Bronycon was the first I ever attended... For that matter, it was the first really large fan convention I've ever attended as well... I mean I've been to BrickFair Virginia several times (it was actually the weekend before Bronycon this year), but the entirety of the event would have easily fit into Bronycon's vendor area... But I digress. I was only able to make it down Sunday, due to having to perform an emergency home improvement project Friday (had to replace a light fixture in the kitchen, among other things) and the monthly PennLUG (Pennsylvania Lego User's Group) meeting Saturday. Even with being there for just one day, I had lots of fun. I managed to miss pretty much all the panels because I kept getting lost and/or side-tracked with buying stuff or meeting new people, and I just barely missed out on getting Kelly Sheridan's autograph (I was hoping she'd sign this Starlight Glimmer print I'd bought), but I DID get to meet & get my picture taken with Claire Corlett (and as a bit of a bonus, when she found out I was one of her YouTube subscribers, she had me record a bit for the 3-part video series she's making about BronyCon 2017 for her channel) as well as Brittney Ackerman (does a lot of Rainbow Dash fan voice acting, mainly for TriDashie) and Ink Rose.... I bought 3 of Ink Rose's prints (which she signed) and got to talk to her for a little bit. I also made a new friend during the closing ceremonies, so all in all, it was an awesome experience. I also had to make a special trip to Michaels to buy picture frames for all the prints I got (I still don't have a frame for the Rainbow Dash print I bought, due to it being a rather odd size), and have them hanging in various places of honor around the house (the signed Princess Celestia print I got from Ink Rose is hanging on the wall behind this very computer, and the signed Rarity print is hanging above my bed). I'm really looking forwards to going again next year and am planning on going all three days this time.
  12. Those are some good questions. I'm wondering if maybe Spike might not be busy elsewhere, but if it's a map mission and he isn't called for some reason then that would explain it. And I guarantee that there will be a significant portion of the fandom who will associate this episode with current politics..... I'm excited to see how Trixie responds to being summoned by the map (if it is a map episode): She's either going to totally freak out about her flank sparkling & glowing, or totally geek out about the map finding her worthy of helping with a friendship problem. Either way, it'll be fun to watch. I'm also hoping that she shows some more character development this episode as well.
  13. Hello, there. Just recently joined these forums, but I wanted to say that Rarity is one of my favorite characters & second-favorite of the Mane6. I mean at first, I thought she was kinda annoying & self-centered, but then her true artistic & generous self started to show through.. Not to mention that she was able to convincingly stand in for Applejack (an Earth Pony known for physical strength even among other Earth Ponies) and was willing to get absolutely filthy for her sister's sake was the tipping point for me. Plus, in the later seasons I can relate to her passion for combining new looks, because I'll admit to being somewhat of a fashionista myself (both in boy mode & girl mode) and tend to be more focused on "does this stuff look good together" than "what brand/designer makes this", much like Rarity seems to be. I also love the fact that she uses the Mid-Atlantic accent, which is a real, ahem, rarity these days... Anyways, I'm going to post this video I discovered a while back here, because it just shows the kind of pony Rarity is so well:
  14. That's something that I've been considering myself, especially since they have similar coloration & sun-related cutie marks. Furthermore, as of Mirror Magic, Sunset's magic is almost the same exact color as Sunbursts...
  15. Oh my gosh! That would be pretty sweet! I mean can you imagine what Twilight's reaction to learning that she and Starlight are descendants of Star Swirl the Bearded?! I'll be interested to see if that's what happens, because we haven't had nearly enough of Twilight being all adorkable & geeking out over stuff lately.
  16. Looks interesting. If it's the Map sending Starlight & Trixie to the changeling hive, then I'm looking forward to seeing either (a) Trixie freaking out at the beginning of the episode to her cutie mark flashing and glowing, or (b) if she already knows how the map works (which would be a reasonable assumption seeing as she's friends with Starlight), Trixie geeking out over how the "great & powerful" friendship map called her (as long as she doesn't let it go to her head, that is). Either way, I'm hoping for some prime cuts of ham from Trixie.
  17. That would be the one! It's definitely one of my favorites on their channel.
  18. I tend to concur. As a matter of fact, AgrolChannel made an AWESOME video last year that essentially depicted a similar backstory for Starlight that gave me the kind of feels I haven't had from watching a fan video since I saw Snowdrop...
  19. I've been kinda wondering if Uncommon Bond might not be confirming a theory that seems to be emerging that Starlight & Twilight are actually related somehow. I think it would be interesting if it turns out that they're like 2nd cousins or something like that... Either that or it could possibly be more info about Spike's dragon parents as revealed by Ember, which would be pretty cool as well.
  20. Oh, I love this! BTW, have you ever heard of a fanfic on FIMfiction called "Aftermath of the Games?" This scene sort of happens in it. I would definitely love to see something like this happen in the actual Equestria Girls lineup, though. @KH7672 Thanks! That was just a prelim pic, though. Still working on my own personal style. Like for instance I've been doing some face studies of both unicorns & non-unicorn ponies, and have determined that using a variation on the standard eye style I've been using for the past 17 years or so not only works a lot better for me, but looks better as well. I'll probably post that one here soon, since Glimmy-Glam is one of the ponies' faces that I'm drawing (I'll be giving her a cat smile), especially since it will also be the first one I'll be attempting to color on the computer after I scan it up... I really need to get a new paint program though: that 18 year old copy of Paint Shop Pro that I have is definitely showing its age & limitations, but all the others I've tried are either too expensive, too complicated (like GIMP) or both (e.g. Photoshop)...
  21. I rather enjoyed this episode, mainly because we get a bit more world-building with it: I mean Viking Earth Ponies! Asian Unicorns! (Which, due to the whole "Far-East" theme that Sunset Shimmer's power-up modes have in Equestria Girls as well as her running a sushi cart makes me wonder if she isn't from the same general region originally). And, while we've had Greco-Roman Pegasi before, I love how they had Torch in that story as well as confirming the existence of an Equestrian equivalent of the Aegis Shield in Pegasus lore. I also must say that I agree with the others about Rarity's story being my favorite, with Mistmane being willing to sacrifice everything she had to redeem her friend & restore her homeland. I also really liked the caring dynamics between the big sisters and little sisters, particularly how this episode and season 7 in general have shown how Scoots & RD love each other like family now (heck, even RD's parent's seem to have unofficially adopted her), and that just gives me all kinds of warm fuzzies. So, despite a few minor gripes about the portrayal of Scoots as a scaredy-cat and some of the story telling methods used for the legends, I really enjoyed it.
  22. That's the theory I'm going with... Like I said, if the bits were actual gold, at current gold prices & the current market value for a fixer-upper row house in many downtown areas (a.k.a. the hood), it wouldn't take too awful many either.
  23. Hey guys, just joined the forums recently, but I must say that Starlight has been one of my favorite characters since season 5, particularly with her redemption. Part of the reason is that over the past year or so, I've been struggling to get my life back on track after making a huge mistake, so I really identify with a lot of Starlight's struggles. I do like how they've developed her character over the past 2 seasons. Since I actually started watching MLP on Netflix during the hiatus between the end of Season 5 & the start of Season 6, the show & stuff I've seen from the fan community has motivated me to try to get back into drawing again, and just last week, I drew my first semi-serious sketch in over 4 years as part of my attempts at finding a style of drawing ponies that is sorta close to the show style, but that suits my general technique better. I know it's not that great, but I hope all you fellow Starlight fans like it:
