You Wake up and are your own avatar! What do you say?
jackfettgames replied to Venomshank's topic in Forum Games
Ummm... I guess why. -
I would like another slice-of-life story mixed with a little reflection. It would give a chance to show more characters and expand established characters, perhaps with a different take on the meta-reflection of the 100th episode. With the different bonds that have been created since the 100th episode, this would be an amazing chance to see where the show has gone with a similarly-styled episode.

Should MLP Have Had A Fallen Hero?
jackfettgames replied to Denim&Venöm's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I haven't watched this episode, but wasn't this executed on a slice-of-life scale with Moondancer? She was referenced as hosting a party in the pilot, and the episode that focused on her had her reject Twilight's friendship, making her an antagonist for that episode. Otherwise, I don't think "fallen hero" would fit into any of the characters' arcs well, and I don't think it will be implemented on a large scale. (I'll just write this here because I've already spent a while writing this, but I think the "Iron Will" episode (can't remember its name) fits Fluttershy into "fallen hero" quite nicely.) -
Reasons you’ve left the forums for long periods
jackfettgames replied to DubWolf's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, I'm not quite sure. I think my enthusiasm and self-esteem just waxes and wanes, and my activity supports that. (Also I don't have much to contribute during hiatus because I've seen seasons 1-3, part of season 7, and bits from the other seasons. That's mostly the extent of official pony I've seen.) -
There are definitely specific people I don't like seeing, but I have more of a distaste for the corporate model in general. Most of the time, it excuses deplorable actions and glorifies who can be the most "intense" under the company's rules.

What Will Happen To Them?
jackfettgames replied to Earl Grey Ghost's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
This is a very intriguing headcannon that instantly made me think about the other princesses, particularly Celestia's (and Luna's) ability to use the elements by herself/themselves. This theory would also bring new depth into Nightmare Moon and how Luna was affected by the corruption. This is definitely something to think on.- 20 replies

For what happened to "old Disney villains," I think Disney's current mindset can most accurately be found in the live action Maleficent. This movie, however you may think of it, serves to give more "realistic" motivations towards Maleficent's evil in Sleeping Beauty. Through this, I observe that, currently, Disney heros and villains start with the same mindset, but the villains have a certain small event in their life that changes them (see @Ivan The Adorable's post above). In short, Disney's priorities have changed from bringing memorable villains to bringing realistic antagonists (in their view of "realistic," at least). I don't really have an opinion on this change, but I am interested in seeing where it goes from here.

gaming Pokémon: Super Mystery Dungeon just became my favorite video game.
jackfettgames posted a topic in Media Discussion
"Your actions will have consequences." This is a saying repeated throughout modern gaming culture after the immense success of Telltale Games's The Walking Dead. And true enough, your choices in these games do have consequences: they cause one thing or the other to happen in the game's story. With this framing, the story of a "choice game" often feels objectified and unaware of itself. I thought this trait was inherent of games with choices until I played Pokémon: Super Mystery Dungeon. In this game, the first few hours are spent building the characters. I could go into an entire other thread explaining how well this game uses characterization, but for now I will keep it simple. Your partner throughout the game is impulsively driven, yet she (as I call her) still wants to be accepted by someone, so she hangs around you. As this game progresses, you come to a very important event. You have been in a team with your previously mentioned partner and another person. On a rash decision, your partner decides to abandon the third member of your group to get a goal. As a testament to the writing, this frustrated me, especially when I had no choice to stop her. However, this annoyance was key in the next scene. Your partner asks you if she is annoying. This does give you a choice in answering, so I chose to say, "You can be annoying," as I was annoyed, but more at the turn of events. Her reaction stunned me. My response broke my partner. She ran off the screen after showing her devastated state. However, I thought that would be the end of it, as it is in most "choice games." The next day, my partner refused to hang around me, something she had done habitually up until that point. With this change in such a simple event, I was more affected emotionally than by any "choice game," and I realized after that the game expertly utilized my emotions to make a point. After that, I had to take a break. I haven't come back to the game yet, so please leave spoilers out of the discussion. I'm sorry if this is unclear, but I just really wanted to express my emotions. Other than that, discuss the game and these moments below! -
I just want to preface this with saying that this situation has a lot of personal stakes, so I will try to treat it with as much respect as I possibly can. However, some information on the topic has been forever deleted or just not publicly shown, so I had to try my best to create a semi-accurate summary of what happened. For the purposes of this summary, I will start with the release of Xericide's song "Without You." It was a part of the Ponies at Dawn album "Anthology," but it was released early with Horse Music Herald. On this release, a lot of people loved this future base track, including John Kenza. Upon its release, the music video on the Ponies at Dawn YouTube channel gained a lot of popularity. As far as I can tell, the premonitions of the controversies to come started when Xericide personally requested that the Ponies at Dawn video be unlisted. However, the song was also released with the new label Onward, who kept the track online. However, Onward's choice caused a downward spiral into confused morality. It truly started when Xericide's aunt found Onward's video. While information is not clear as to what she commented on the video, but it has been described as slander. Apparently, the aunt followed up by telling Xericide's parents about the song, and the parents proceeded to take Xericide off of social media so he could focus on his grades. And this would have been the whole story. But "Without You" was copied from a YouTube tutorial. I am unsure who discovered this video, but it shines an interesting light on the situation. So, what do you think? Please discuss below, and tell me how I did summarizing the situation. Thanks for reading! It's probably going to turn out like The Emoji Movie did for me. It's an incredibly stupid yet hilarious idea that I think will have a mediocre, unnoticed release, yet its release actually brings a movie with waves of actual hate against it. -

I don't usually cry, but watching the season 5 finale of Supernatural, Swan Song, did the trick. The trick was done too well.
