  1. How did I miss the post which you were just quoted on? I'm pretty sure North Korea prosecutes the religious in the name of Juche, which is an ideology which pretty much is the backbone of North Korea. The god they worship is their Dear Leader.
  2. What's the point? There's something called 'enjoying your life'. I don't wanna spend life behind bars, let alone wanting to live a life where people will hate me for taking so many lives from people. Now, what's legitimately frightening is the idea that if you believe that accepting Jesus Christ as your savior is the one ticket to heaven, nothing you do matters! Kill a few people, you're still going into heaven since you believe something to be true! On the other hand, if you're the guy who believes that going good things is the ticket to heaven, then we encounter a problem with knowing what is considered good or bad as you can find things in the bible which people in today's culture would normally denounce as immoral. Again, the verses I posted here.
  3. That's not our argument. Our argument is that you cannot easily draw a causal connection between atheism and harm. If atheism is an ideology, not-watching-MLP is a hobby. Now, what's the deal with the dark ages?
  4. Hmm... interesting. However, I find this connfusing as I heard something about the '99 names of allah'. I don't understand what it's about, but do you?
  5. I'm certain that this argument is invalid. There are atheists who believe in a form of objective morality. I recommend reading "The Moral Landscape" by Sam harris, which argues that morality must concern with human well-being. Human well-being depends on objective facts about the human experience. If morality does concern with human well-being, then there exists objectively right and wrong answers to morality.
  6. Considering how I effortlessly found a verse encouraging violence towards apostates, how do you know you're not the one with the twisted version of faith? Richard Dawkins once made this argument which seemed brillant to me, that there is this funny irony that people tend to say that there is not logical basis for faith. This throws away any standard we can possibly use to say that people like Westboro are a twisted version of fatih because to make such a claim requires a logical basis for faith. With that considered, what would be your logical basis of ignoring the verses I posted here?
  7. That wording leaves out weak atheism where it's just the non-belief of a higher being. Not holding an opinion is different from holding an opinion that it's false.
  8. Well... google got me something interesting. Care to read Deuteronomy 13:6-10? EDIT: And I may as well copy-paste the verses from a different website which pointed those verses for me. 6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. 9 You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
  9. Your point is moot unless somehow those atheists are the equivalent to Jesus Christ / the bible in Christianity.
  10. If for some reason I can go to google and find a violent verse in the bible with little effort...
  11. Doesn't matter. It still challenges the idea that somehow the Christian perspective is the only one worth considering. It's the reason why I stepped out of my little Christianity bubble and look at things in my own perspective to determine my own world view - I realized that Christianity is only one religion out of many.
  12. Is that atheism, or is that leaning too far on the political left? Atheism does not come with a belief that religions are bad because atheism is nothing more than the non-belief regarding religion.
  13. Pretty much why religious dicussions can become EXTREMELY confusing, but thanks for clearing that up. We have different ideas of what 'God' is. (lolol @ people citing Einstein as an example of a religious scientist)
  14. Are you sure it's God who spoke to you? If you're not talking about the Christian god, then I think we should be careful next time we mention God's name and not capitalize the word 'god' when we're not talking about the Christian god. You would encounter an interesting problem as you can get people like Socrates claiming that he had a Daemon given to him by his gods. There's also another famous guy who goes by the name "Mohammed", who claims that an angel named Gabriel was sending messages to him on the behalf of Allah.
  15. Featuring a ponysona I just pulled out of my rear.
  16. I should not have clicked this thread
  17. I'm not following your logic. Besides, I'm pretty sure the carnivores you're talking about have their eyes forward so they can focus on their prey, while other animals have their eyes to the side (e.g. pigeons) so they have a 360 degree view of their world, so carnivores can't sneak up on them so easily. I read that people with lazy eye are like that because their brains use only one eye. I guess derpy is functionally one-eyed.

.... Well, that explaisn my situation. brb spammming
  19. oooh, forgot to mention. I recommend reading "Drawing on the right side of the brain", which I hear is a GREAT book to read. It basically talks about how people ought to shift their focus on the hemisphere of the brain that is the one that is good at art, and people who do this can go from completely untalented to being pretty good. I only gave myself the time to skim through the juicy parts of it and found some rather interesting advice myself, but it might do the same for you.
  20. I'm no art expert but just some talented person. I dunno if doing stuff in pencil would be better practice than pixel art, but I prefer to stick with digital since my fine motor skills aren't the sharpest in the world, so I can undo mistakes with ease. Ooh, and whenever you wanna try animating, having a grasp of physical science would help. (lol @ people forgetting Newton's third law)
  21. How long have I been doing pixel art? It's hard to say. When I tried experimenting with making games in game maker so many years ago (out of pure curiosity), of course, I would naturally need to do some pixel art, but of course, I definitely wasn't anything special. Then, I took an art class in high scool in my junior year, then a photography class my senior year. They might not be pixel-art classes, but they still offer some pretty useful knowledge (yes, even photography!), such as the 'heavy borders' style you referred to which I picked up from the lessons on line-art. Ever since that art class in high school, I started to realize I had an underdeveloped talent. I made a few small attempts at anime-styled pencil drawing here and there, and started making larger attempts at pixel art while I keep experimenting with game maker... Eventually, I decided to stop keeping stuff to myself and start doing pony art (since I know for sure I'll have an audience). Pretty much, I think the better question is when I started art. Asking when I started pixel art is pretty superficial when most of the stuff you would apply to pixel art can be applied to other forms of art.
  22. Joining the artistic work force two weeks ago was the best decision I've made in a long time. My dA page if anyone's curious: http://pixmeister.deviantart.com/
