  1. Sunlight Glisten
Back when I was a filly attending canterlot university I had some strange stories that helped shape me into the adventure go getter pony I am today.
One of those tales begins on a warm spring night. The winter was over, the trees were in bloom, and I was looking to stretch my hoofs in Lunas magnificent light. I was with a couple of fillies, Timid Hoof and Thin Mane, if I recal correctly. Out seeking adventure around 1am near the canterlot library. Then we found it. The pit. There is no other discription than it was a large hole in the surrounding flat ground. Why was it there? To what purpose could this pit possibly serve? There was a door at the bottom, our filly hearts yearned to know where it would lead. To the secret canterlot archives, perhaps to the storehouse of forbidden relics? There was one way to find out.
Being a filly my wings had not fully developed so hoof and muscle was the only thing to get me down there. The pit was a shear vertical drop about 2 stories or 30 some feet. Thin Mane gathered the rope and Timid Hoof gave me his hoof protectors. I was ready to go.
I should mention again here I was only a filly with limited adventure experiance. I had watched other ponies rock climb with rope so I figured I could do the same.
Did I wear a harness.... No... Did I have any idea how to belay... No. Over the railing I went, rope in hoof and determination I took the first downward steps. It wasnt too bad. I was climbing down with ease for about 3 feet.  Then my back hoofs slipped off the wall and I began to fall. I had at least 20 feet to go. I rope burned through my hoofs as I clamped down on it. I was still falling. Was this my end, just as I was getting my start?
Down I fell. At the base of the cliff there was an old bench. At my rate I was set to break all my legs crashing through it. Yet you know Daring Do, quick witted and cool under pressure. I donkey kicked that bench and redoubled my efforts on the rope. This causes a swinging motion and I swung inches from the ground rolled over on my back and landed on my feet. Looked like I planned it all. I hear shouts from Timid Hoof "Daring are you ok?" I look and my hoofs and respond "yes but there is a lot of blood." The rope had ripped apart the hoof protector and shredded my hoofs to the tender insides.
There was no way for my companions to get to me. No way for me to get to my companions. If only my wings could fly. Since I was now on the pit I figured I might as well check the door. It is why we went through all this adversity to do.... locked. Go figure. As all good adventure ponies do I surveyed my surroundings. Hidden under a heap of debry was a ladder.  My hoofs however could not grasp it. Fighting the pain I hoisted it up and Thin Mane secured it into position. Using my hocks to climb as my hoofs were too damaged to touch anything. I freed myself from the dreaded pit of dispair. The pain was insurmountable but the lust for adventure overcame the pain.
We then went to the hut of Tender Heart, a dear unicorn who swiftly nursed my wounds and bandaged my hoofs. On to find adventure another day.
That concludes my tale of the first time I lost all the skin on my hands. As to the 2nd and 3rd time those are tales for another moon.
Thank you for reading my daring tale. I now bid you good night. Rest well. The great adventure of life begins in the morning.
