  1. Way back in 2016, Techmoan on YouTube found a reel-to-reel tape on eBay carrying some television jingles of Heinz, the Co-Op stores, Kellogg's, and more, all from CTS Studios in the UK who are famed at mastering and mixing the soundtrack of the Star Wars trilogy and the Lord of the Rings trilogy before they closed down in 2010. The audio clips from the YouTube video at the bottom are far better quality than what we saw back then. Many people from the UK will be remembered by these extremely popular jingles. If you have any fond memories too, feel free to reply! Here's the video as a source:
  2. Hello fellow bronies! I've recently acquired a Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player from a local thrift store and got two movies on HD DVD Combo Format: The Break-up (2006) and Mr. Bean's Holiday (2007). While Blu-ray is so popular that everyone loved that format, HD DVD never got the same treatment. It was short lived for two years. I wrote a blog post discussing about why I'm not getting an Xbox 360 external drive for HD DVD's here: https://katiecadettech.wordpress.com/2022/09/04/why-i-am-not-getting-an-xbox-360-hd-dvd-external-drive/ I've also programmed a universal remote control for my HD DVD player and put it into my 4k Home theatre for future enjoyment. (I still have that PlayStation 3 lying around for my Blu-ray's.) Anyways, does anyone else remember HD DVD back in the late 2000s? If you do, feel free to talk about it!
  3. Hello fellow bronies! Back in January, I got a Sanyo Betamax Hi-Fi VCR from 1984. Unfortunately, after a few months in storage, it started to have a bad habit of eating/jamming tapes. I know it was a competitor to VHS, but in my pile of recorded tapes, someone back in the 80s and 90s recorded some Classical music recordings (there was Horowitz in there that I recognize), K.D. Lang (off of a Laserdisc copy of her music videos), 28 Up (British television documentary), and some other recordings from CBC television. Feel free to talk about your recorded Betamax finds from previous owners! Sony, the creator behind Betamax, claimed to have better quality than VHS, but I can't spot the difference. Anyways, if you have some Betamax television recordings, discuss here!
  4. Hello fellow bronies! In 1997, Purple Moon made it into the scene with computer adventure games targeted to the female demographic. This topic will only be focusing on the Rockett Movado series. The story follows Rockett Movado who started off as a newcomer of Grade 8 of the fictional Whistling Pines Junior High School. There are five games in this series: 1. Rockett's New School (1997) 2. Rockett's Tricky Decision (Early 1998) 3. Rockett's Secret Invitation (Late 1998) 4. Rockett's First Dance (Early 1999, only seen in the Rockett's Collection bundle) 5. Rockett's Camp Adventures (Late 1999) I've tested Rockett's New School, Rockett's Secret Invitation, and Rockett's First Dance on a PowerBook G4 (15-inch, Early 2005) running Mac OS X 10.4.11, and on a Power Mac G4 (MDD 2003) running Mac OS X 10.2.8, all with Mac OS 9.2.2 Classic Environment installed, no issues found so far during gameplay. (Sorry, no Intel or M1 Macs supported!) I've also tested Rockett's New School under Windows 10 64-bit (untested on Windows 11) using manual copying of the installation data and/or using a 32-bit InstallShield engine on my HP Pavilion 15 Gaming Laptop with InDirectSound, and my Custom Built AMD Ryzen 5 High Performance Windows 10 Gaming PC with a Sound Blaster Z installed with Creative Alchemy. Sadly, Purple Moon was short-lived after two years. But retro enthusiasts like myself really enjoy the Rockett Movado series to this day! And thanks to Katie Cadet's Computer and Video Game Collection since 2018 on the WordPress blog engine, more contribution is done to include prototype screenshots, compatibility tests, and more! Feel free to talk about this rare gem, and take care!
  5. Yes! You can check it out on my MobyGames profile. Regards, Katie Cadet
  6. Hello everyone! My name is Katie Cadet! If you don't know who Katie Cadet is, I have been active on the internet as MiaFan2010 since August 2011! Katie Cadet is also the name of the main character from the StarFlyers, an educational video game from 2002 by the Learning Company! I've recently bought Season 1 of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic on DVD from the thrift store, and recently reliving the best of the best from each episode I watch during my teenage-hood. I also currently have some toys from Generation 4; I have two Pinkie Pie figures and one Princess Celestia. And in 2018 I got an LP of the soundtrack of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic to play on my Technics SL-Q200 turntable hooked up to a Sony STR-VX2 of my 80s stereo system! I own all four Equestria Girls movies on Blu-ray; the years when they came out. Aside from Friendship is Magic and Equestria Girls, I am always in love with other girl franchises such as Purple Moon's Rockett Movado, and Sailor Moon for instance. The reason why I picked the Katie Cadet name is that it is a focal point of early 2000s technology, especially the StarFlyers video games for Macintosh and Windows; being born in the 90s. I am a native Canadian. My voice that I record during production is my real voice, which is a neutral North American male, but I actually have a lot of talent with my voice going from a very low pitch (like a monster) up to some high-pitched girly voices. I mostly have the entire back catalog of Blue Microphones since December 2011, my favourite being the discontinued Nessie. I am also a tech enthusiast, with computer, audio and video technology dating back to the 1950's up to now! I hope the My Little Pony Forums is a great place to be for all of my pony talk needs! Regards, Katie Cadet
