    What the title says. I do not (usually) enjoy my school's lunches. Except for when we get cheesy garlic bread and fry day, which is essentially a ginormous plate of empty carbs, but meh it's tasty. I also like brunch for lunch since they let us take apple juice instead of an unripe fruit or slimy carrot sticks. Does apple juice count as fruit? Maybe?
    Anyways.
     
     
    This is turkey and mashed potatoes. The square thing on the side of the first pic is stuffing (I think). Surprisingly it's not as bad as it looks. Yes, I have willingly eaten this.
     
     

    The nachos aren't always bad, but sometimes there's this watery mud at the bottom.

    The 3rd quarter of my school year ends today, which I'm very happy about. I might be scared for the future, but after the weeks I've had before break, it's nothing compared to the chaos here.
    I think I've mentioned it before, but my school district has always struggled with violence, half the students being chronically late/tardy, vaping, drugs, etc. and for the most part this hasn't affected me too much. It's easy to just sort of lock in and stick with people you trust. I've stayed out of trouble for the most part, and other than the various lockdowns we've had over the years, none of the chaos has really reached me. Until the other week. I don't know what happened to spark this sudden shift in behavior, but it all started on Monday when there were two fights in the same day. Some girl (not at our school) threatened to come to our school and fight another girl. The cops were called. At lunch an entirely different fight happened and both parties were broken up. Meanwhile the girl showed up at our school and attempted to FIGHT THE POLICE before getting arrested. It was passing period when it happened so of course everyone was being shoved around by people butting through to see the fight. After school that day, an unofficial school account started posting threats people were submitting to the school. At first it was just stupid stuff like threatening to jump people, but on Tuesday a threat was posted saying that they would wait until after school with a weapon and use it on the crowd of students walking to the buses. The cops show up again. Surprisingly there's no lockdown, but we have to walk an alternative route to the buses which is stupid because if a student really did have a weapon they would know that the route changed because the teachers literally told us that.
    I get freaked out. My friends tell me that there's no way anyone is actually going to do it. I calm down.
    For the next few days, several fights break out and a new account pops up that's posting all the videos. A few more threats are posted, which the school tries to keep secret for some reason, but it's on a public account and it's all anyone's talking about. I'm incredibly stressed for the rest of the week. I'm kind of stressed for the rest of the week about it, mostly because in schools around me and even a few times in my school there have been instances where they've found weapons on students. It's such a weird feeling to repeatedly return to the same place every day with a feeling of distrust towards any student you don't know.
    Spring break comes, I relax for the first time in a while. 
    But now I'm back in school. I'm not really scared anymore like I was the other week, but I'm still not happy here. I don't like high school at all and even though I'm nervous about a few aspects of college, I think I'd rather be there. It's the final stretch though, and I'm close. I've been relying a lot on fictional media to cheer me up, escapism isn't the perfect solution, but it is a nice comfort to have.
    Sorry if there are any errors or weirdly worded things in here, I'm a bit frustrated while typing this.

    Just a small ramble about how life's been going, I think I like posting about life stuff on this blog. It's nice to be able to dump out all my thoughts and feelings, but there's also something comforting about knowing there's someone on the other side, even if it's just briefly skimmed once or twice.
    Anyways. Winter break. 
    This year my school's winter break landed really close to Christmas itself, like only a weekend away. I decided to put my two weeks in the previous week, so it was my last weekend of working which was a relief because it was starting to encroach on my schoolwork and extracurricular activities (the manager started to schedule me on days when I volunteered at an animal place even though I wasn't available). I ended up getting sick and missing my last day, but when I felt better my boyfriend and I went to the mall. And then...he ghosted me for a few days before sending me a break-up text. Something about wanting different things in a relationship? Not really any bad blood there, but I do resent some of the ways he treated me in our time together.
    When it happened, I thought I'd be sadder. I kept waiting for the tears to come...but nothing happened. I think given time I would've broken down about it, if it weren't for one thing.
    I had gotten some money for Christmas, so I decided to dust off the Xbox (mostly my dad and sister who moved out used it) and see if there were any video games I'd be interested in. As I was scrolling through all the Christmas deals, I saw that the Batman:Arkham trilogy bundle was only around $6. I'm guessing because the games are a good few years old that they don't mind lowering the price a ton for the holidays. I enjoy Batman. I've watched all the cartoons, seen the movies, haven't gotten into many of the comics (lmk if you have any recommendations), Harley Quinn was my bi awakening, so I decided to give them a try even though they aren't the type of game I usually play.
    Then I spent the rest of break playing the games, only stopping to celebrate New Year's, and then picking right back up. I spent almost every moment playing, only stopping to eat and shower. On the last day of break, I was getting ready for my bed when I caught my reflection in the mirror. My eyes were BLOODSHOT. BRIGHT RED. It was sooooo gross. But I didn't even care! I was having so much fun with the games, I loved the characters, the stories, the gameplay (which I was hesitant about at first), and the aesthetics. Despite this, I knew that I would have to start waking up early for school again, so I decided to play for just a little bit longer then go to bed early so I could try to fix my sleep schedule.
    Midnight hit. 
    It felt like I was playing for just a few minutes, but suddenly it was midnight??? And I had to wake up in a little more than 5 hours???
    Okay, okay, I can fix this still. If I go to bed RIGHT NOW, I'll have a bit more than 5 hours of sleep, and that's basically 6 hours, which is close to 7 hours, and that's basically  8 hours. In my deluded mind I would get 8 full hours of sleep if I went to bed past midnight and woke up at 5:30. So that's what I did.
    I should explain that my dreams are very easily influenced. If I watch a movie or eat something before bed, it'll almost always show up in my dreams. If my dreams are stressful then it feels like I don't get any sleep at all. This wasn't an issue during break, because even if I had a stressful Batman dream, I could wake up and go back to sleep until noon if I wanted. But this time that wasn't an option. I kept on dreaming that I was in those stealth portions of the game, and every time I fell from a vantage point up high, I jolted awake before passing back out. When I woke up for real it felt like I had been up all night. I was sweating and literally had to take a close look at my surroundings to remind myself that I was NOT in a Batman stealth sequence.
    I'm at school now, though, but my thoughts still haven't drifted from the game. If I zone out for too long, my brain starts making up stealth levels and I start doing them in my head. All I can think about is going home and playing more. Oh well. I still think it's better than crying about my ex.
    Also if I said "hear me out" about Arkhamverse Riddler...

    Ranking my favorite mane 6!

    Note: I love all of the mane 6, this is just based on which are my favorites! These are mostly based on vibes/preference, ik some of the mane 6 have more development, but that doesn't play too much of a part in how up they are
     
    6. Rainbow Dash - I think as a kid I might have disliked Rainbow Dash a bit, but I definitely like her a lot more now. She's an overall entertaining character and I love her dynamic with the others. I especially like her dynamic with Scootaloo, I think the way she acts like a big sister is really cute. I like her design a lot as well, it's similar to her g3 design while also adding more to it.
    5. Pinkie Pie - I think Pinkie Pie has my favorite design of the mane 6, it's fun and bouncy and colorful, it summarizes her character PERFECTLY. I think my own personal style is partially based on her, as I love the color pink and other bright colors. She's also the only g4 toy I have which is pretty cool too. I do find her funny and entertaining as well, but I think as a kid I might have found her a bit too overstimulating. I'm not as sensitive to that sort of stuff in cartoons anymore though, so I appreciate her now that I'm a bit older.
    4. Applejack - I LOVE Applejack's character and it makes me so sad that she was somewhat underrated in the earlier days of the fandom. I think she's by far the most grounded character which gives some really funny moments with the rest of the mane 6. Personally, I've always had a slight preference for Rarijack over Appledash, but I do think both ships are cute. One of the things that's most interesting to me is how little her design has changed over the years. If you look at her design from g1 and compare it to g4, it's practically the same aside from a few tweaks. While her design isn't my favorite out of the mane 6, I do think it's pretty solid and nice to look at.
    3. Twilight - Twilight is a character that I've sort of related to as a kid. Not as much as Fluttershy (we'll get to that later), but as a little kid who tended to be uptight and easily stressed I found a lot of her reactions to things relatable. I was always a bit torn at the idea of her becoming an alicorn, I didn't have a problem with it like some fans did, but I always thought that if she became an alicorn then her friends should too since they helped her out. I guess it makes a little sense that she specifically became an alicorn since she was the only one who was Princess Celestia's student, but I feel like the other members of the mane 6 put in the same effort and learned alongside Twilight. Either way, Twilight is Twilight and I love her regardless.
    2. Rarity - I've never really related to Rarity, but I've always found her the funniest out of the mane 6. I think at the time of g4 and even before, there was this trope in media of really feminine and fashionable characters being portrayed as bitchy, mean, shallow, etc., which is really unfortunate. I've always liked how Rarity subverts those tropes, being the literal element of generosity, and can still retain her confidence, love of fashion, and even her sometimes dramatic personality while not being villainized for these traits. She's still shown to be just as tough and kind as the others.
    1. Fluttershy - Fluttershy has always been a character that's near and dear to my heart. I related a lot to her shyness and quiet demeanor, and as a kid I just found her really comforting. As someone who dreams of being a vet or having another job with animals, I appreciated her connection to nature as well. Her design is just behind Pinkie Pie's in terms of my favorite, I adore the soft colors and the way that the pink and yellow look together. I think her moments of assertiveness were really cathartic to me as a kid, since I often struggled with displaying that same strength. Overall, Fluttershy is just a huge comfort character to me!

    I cannot believe I'm 18 now. I still feel like a middle schooler (maybe I'm still a bit stunted from the pandemic, a lot of ppl my age are), not a whole legal adult!! there's a small (massive) part of me that doesn't grow up, like what do you mean I have to pay taxes? I still have to design my MLP characters to post on here! I guess it's inevitable though. So many people make themselves stressed and miserable trying to stay young as possible, so it's better to just embrace it I think. After all, I can still be the same me, I don't have to change just because I'm older.

    Just a small ramble about my thoughts...
    I didn't realize G5 was even cancelled until 5 minutes ago, I watched and enjoyed the movie, but I didn't really keep up with any of the shorts or show on Netflix. While I didn't dislike G5, I sort of expected it to end a little sooner. If the Gen 6 leaks with Gen 4 characters are real, it seems like they're trying to recreate the popularity of G4 with the characters and style or at least bring back some G4 fans. The style does look good, and I think it does have a lot of potential, but if it isn't given a chance or if the writing doesn't hold up, it'll probably fizzle out as well. I have mixed feelings about a Gen5 and Gen4 crossover. I do think it'd be interesting, and I do like the characters, I think I'd rather just have another original reboot like with previous generations, just completely disconnected from all previous generations. Maybe it's possible that some of the backlash that G5 got has made Hasbro a bit hesitant to entirely reboot the characters or universe? But I think what makes all the MLP generations stand out is just how different they all are from each other, one of my dislikes about G5 is that it's still connected to G4 when I think it would make more sense in universe for it to be it's own thing.
    Either way, I am excited for whatever comes next and I'll try to go in with an open mind. I did like some parts of Gen5 and I am a huge G4 fan, so I'm still hopeful!
