Princess Luna in that MLP FIM episode creating Tantabus to torture herself, was a risk to others. But it's not like she wanted to put others in harms way. And in real life, even people self harming or committing suicide has the potential to lead others down that same path, why? because of the emotional hurt this causes friends or family. Any form of self harm, has the potential to do this, but that doesn't make it right to call individuals who are self harming, selfish. If you want them to stop, recommend them professional help.
