This situation is massively different from in MLP FIM when Princess Celestia chose to have Discord released from his stone prison then have Mane Six reform him, she clearly knew there was a good chance he could learn kindness from Fluttershy, in time. With Celestia in MLP FIM, it's about mercy, with Supreme Kai in Dragonball, it's about wilful ignorance and failure to oversee his domain. One reason I prefer MLP FIM over Dragonball. Celestia's rule is more coordinated and guided by inspiring growth of characters, those things are not even comparable, other fictions had far worse rulers.
