    In DCAU Superman was willing to kill to end a threat, as he tried to do to Darkseid, twice. There are limits to his patience when it comes to threats and he wasn't having any of it. You don't let a villain live just so you can have a sparring partner, which to me, is a much worse reason for letting a villain like that live than attempting to rehabilitate them, it's selfish.
