  1. A hundred times this. It's clearly already lost the war for most folks. Stop dunking on us. Hasbro did that enough already. I find myself not wanting to engage with G4 anymore because of people who actively seek out G5 fans to make fun of them. It's very clear that this particular type of person learned nothing about even being courteous, let alone friendship, from a series called Friendship is Magic. I've accepted its cancellation by now, even though that took a couple months...but knowing what I do now, I feel like it was a very wrong thing to do. I am also worried a lot about any future generation Hasbro might make. Think about it; if G5 turned out this bad, why would G6 be any better? They already fired not only most staff from G4, but G5 too. Anything enjoyable will almost certainly not be carried over to a hypothetical G6. G4 will always be there to enjoy, and what we have of G5 will be as well. But anything past this? I don't know...
  2. Welcome to MLP Forums! I hope you enjoy your stay! :DD Also your avatar is SO CUTE! :mlp_pinkie:

  3. Hey, it's part of life, no harm done. I'm just more up-front with my reactions than most. In the end it's not any skin off my back. Enjoy what you want, how you want - there's definitely lots of it, and lots there to do it with you.
  4. The only thing you "missed" was all the early fandom drama where the world was ending because Twilight became an alicorn, where oh my gosh did you hear the show totally ends in season 5?, where every other week you hear about something or other that you're not in on and missing out anyway. There's still plenty of merch, plenty of active conventions (one of which I signed up to run a panel at!), plenty of art projects. The only thing not there is the viral spread of the fandom into absolutely every crack in the internet. What's left is a regular, cozy fandom, and that's just how I like it. Especially since G5 yet continues with the TYT leaks. Topics like this do make me kind of sad. The show's still there, more available on more platforms than it ever was, and you have an entire forum of superfans to still talk to in every regard. I'm over here, an earnest fan of generations other than G4, yet the people posting in those sections are few and far between. You'd be lucky to make it a day without a poster in here, yet G5 goes weeks regularly without it. Recognize the community you do have for what it is. Appreciate it. You never know what you do have until it goes away, after all. My personal love for the fandom has diminished after it started treating me differently for diverging. But if it's your primary focal point, you'll fit right in. Go get 'em.
  5. Would it? That's rewriting "past timelines" like Starlight does. If you rewrite more fundamental aspects of reality, there's no backlash to be had. It's as if things indeed were always this way, and nobody can tell you otherwise because you cut out the bits that would suggest otherwise. Let's not forget that she just casually changed her friends' destinies on accident by swapping their cutie marks - who knows what she could do if she set out to tackle the problem of her friends' mortality on purpose? Still, she's a smart cookie. I like to think she's smart enough to recognize the "they live on through my life" imagery when she sees it. Perhaps others don't, but if Twilight's as wise as the show and fandom paints her out to be...she'll know what needs to be done and what can't be.
  6. Thanks for filling out your legally mandated introduction message form; your compliance has been noted. But also, welcome! Weird Al has some wonderful performances in the show, glad you can find some happiness in him.
  7. Early 2011. I remember having initially set out to watch it to find specific insult material to use against other forumites (such is teenage life), but I was very quickly swayed by the show and the rest was history.
  8. I think it ended in a perfect place, having grown up with it and noticed its somewhat-decline near its twilight (ha!), but also think that just because something is "over" does not mean you have to "move on". These are very loaded terms that imply there's a correct, optimal option to take when a series ends. There really isn't. I wouldn't be here without G4 either. It gave me meaning, purpose, and community. While my sense of community has been somewhat shaken over the past few years, the meaning and purpose still remain and are a core part of who I am. I don't think I'd ever have challenged my identity if I hadn't learned to do so through the show and community. I also wouldn't be here without G5. Just when I was starting to lose hope, just when I knew I could never move past FiM, just when I thought I couldn't take anymore fandom drama...I rewatched both G5 series and found a new pony love, new values to adhere to, new characters to love, a new world to build. Though a great deal of people disagree with me in finding anything of value in what we got (aside from the movie, which is universally at least "pretty bang-up good"), it's only important what I get out of this new iteration and community...not what others don't get, or what others put others down for possessing. The fandom itself might fade, but that doesn't mean you have to. Continue to produce, talk, engage, discuss, and enjoy. Just because others have moved on to other things doesn't mean that you have to. You will always be welcome with those who come later to experience what you were there for.
  9. I've always thought of it as Twilight being unable to outlive her friends. After all, even if* they die, they live within her; etched into her memories/heart with their actions and love, carried forth by her further advice and actions towards others, always expanding, never being lost. * I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist who thinks that none of them died; Twilight's rewritten reality to save them more than once, and she could easily do so again. Add on that even if not immortal per se, alicorns get a lot more time in Equestria than non-alicorns on average, and, well...how could they not still be somewhere? Perhaps waiting for something particular to happen, perhaps watching from some vantage point, or perhaps just tragically trapped nearby yet unable to escape. Whatever the case...she's not outliving them. They're part of her.
  10. Whew, not much more to say for now I suppose! I can start with that I'm a musician, though, and just finished off my AA via the Music track. I'm a very big G5 fan, as well as G4; both generations have now each saved my life one time and given me new purpose one time each. The themes that I'd dip into elaborating on this aren't quite appropriate for an introductory thread, but it bears mentioning nonetheless! I plan to go back and rewatch G1-3 as well, once I have both the time and spoons. I write stuff sometimes and do techy stuff sometimes as well! I am alternatingly all about the lore, and all about the nonsense shenanigans the cute colorful horses get up to. Which is which depends on my mood My ponysona, Plucky Pizzicato, should be attached to this post if I did it right. It's uh, been awhile since I used a proper forum, so I'm a bit rusty on specific functions and stuff. I'll pick it up as I go on, I'm sure! That's all I can think of, I guess. Feel free to ask any more questions! I also have more comprehensive answers to common pony questions on my profile. Hoof to heart, I'll do my part!
