  1. I don't look down upon those who support the same-sex pairings. I just don't get it. Like I don't get why people like the feel of cooked mushrooms in their mouth. I don't want it, never wanted it, and never will. Fine by me if you like it, but I'll still tell you that it feels like a giant lump of snot/nasal mucus.

Charming. Well, I guess the line between looking down upon people and just rudely expressing your personal opinion really is that thin. But who am I to judge, eh?

Now, I'll be on my merry way. Good day to you, Sir.

  2. It ruins it all for me that there should be some gay romance. It doesnt fit my idea of MLP and the world that is Equestria. Maybe one or two gay romances total, with very good explanation. But this far, I've see none that I would approve of, and that's why Im sticking with: Fluttershy + Big Macintosh Rarity + Spike Pinkie Pie + Discord

I'm not saying there SHOULD be gay romance and I'm definitely not saying that they SHOULD be all over the place (I myself, more often than not don't support gay romance in other fandoms and in MLP I only support 1 same-sex couple, since there are usually more plausible straight pairings, so Celestia kill me, if I tried to make others live up to something I can't live up to myself) - I'm just asking you not to look down upon those who do support same-sex-pairings and not write us all off as not understanding the source material. Please.

  3. Correct. I don't compare homosexuality and incest at all. I just don't think that anything besides straight relationships in MLP could/should work. (And I don't dislike homosexuals at all IRL, I just don't think something like that fits this specific cartoon)

Yes, yes, I understand that, but why don't you think it fits? What differences are there between straight and gay romance, that can't be cooperated into this type of story-telling? I'm not trying to force a perspective on you, shipping is obviously all about personal opinion. I just find it a little none-too-love-and-tolerate-y to consider all same-sex-shipping within the fandom "unfitting", instead of merely considering it a different interpretation of the show and another option taken. ;)
  4. But all the lesbian action is just fine? Oh, and I personally don't get all this female x female shipping. That is a no go imo.

*Ahem* Not meaning to intrude here, but I find it slightly offensive that you compare incest and homosexuality. I know I'm jumping to conclusions (you were probably just comparing how Twilight and Spike's relationship-"upgrade" is similar to what's done with the friendships between the mane characters), but the more comments from strictly-straight-shippers I see, the more it seems like same-sex-shipping is frowned upon.

Could you please explain what you, personally, find wrong about it? At this point, I can't help but feel curious.

  5. She was way more interesting than I'd expected. I thought she'd be insecure, hiding an unmellow, slightly disturbed personality - instead I got the opposite feel in this episode.

Her booming voice was slightly annoying, but it just made the few quiet lines all the more lovable. I just squee whenever her voice breaks ("HOW ABOUT NOW? ... HOW ABOUT now? ... How about now? ... And how about... *break* now?").

To sum up my opinion: Princess Luna just sky-rocketed from liked-but-ignored to 2nd favorite character (after Applejack).

I hope we'll get to see more of her this season! :D

  6. Rarity and Luna share a voice actress. Luna yelled more than half of her lines in that throat-murderingly loud voice. Script-writers being nice to the actors, perhaps? Love and tolerance can't just be limited to the audience, you gotta practice what you preach. ;)

As for in-universe explanations, I figure Big Macintosh is right. An artist like Rarity wouldn't bypass the chance to work with a new genre.

  7. Well, I live in Denmark, so how 'bout Denmare? Our capital, Copenhagen is an easy one; Coltenhagen, of course! :D

My hometown is called Hammelev, so let's saaay... Hammelope? Let's go with that. XD

So, Denmare, Coltenhagen, Hammelope. Guys, we're the gods of punnieness right now!

  8. That's ok not everyone can be an Element. Even if you don't have an Element I believe you are still a good person and can be friendly as long as you don't take advantage of those friends you have.

And since I could never do that, even if the opportunity presented itself, I do believe I qualify. Thanks. :)

  9. Is it bad that I don't fit any of them? I'm dishonest to strangers and people I dislike (to make it easier for myself), I'm rude to people who disappoint me personally, I'm too stoic to bring laughter (unless someone can figure out the hidden insider-jokes I make at every given moment), I'm greedy when no one will find out (such as hoarding valuable collectibles, just because they're rare) and I'm only completely loyal to myself - I've stopped seeing several ex-friends, because their behaviour annoyed me (especially when several friends hit puberty and became snobbish). I just ain't special enough to have magic.

On the other hand, I've also got a bit of every Element. I actually try my best to be a pleasant person and people often try to befriend me because of my stable nature. I dispose of friends who're unkind to me and stay true to myself, making me extremely reliable and giving me a small circle of true friends, instead of many "fake" ones. Maybe that's a 7th Element? Reliability? I guess not, but it's better than admitting what a horrible person I am.

  10. I'm currently thinking up a series of Mother's Day-fanfics (completely out of season, I know), so I've actually thought a lot about this. Here's the ones I've worked out so far:

Twilight Sparkle: An only child, her mother being named Twilight (senior?) and her father Nightlight, as the two resemble ponies by those names from previous generations. Both are astrologers.

Applejack: Disappeared father, mother died giving birth to Apple Bloom.

Pinkie Pie: As in the show, except her parents have now retired and left the rock-farm to Pinkie's blue-haired sister, in my head called Rockabye. Pinkie's dark-haired sister grew up to be beloved background-pony Octavia.

Rainbow Dash: The youngest of 5 foals. Her mother, Sun Shimmer and father, Rainstorm, had a painful divorce, leaving all 5 of the young ones in the care of their father. Their mother is a former model, now fashion photografer and is named after a G3-pony, their father is head of the weather patrol and his name is fanmade. By me, that is.

I'm still vague on Rarity and Fluttershy, but I think the former would come from an average family, while the latter is from an upper-class, possibly famous family. Hence their behaviour. Just my thoughts.

  11. Lyra on the other hand was the first to cry when a parasprite ate her piece of pie, Bon Bon was simply shocked that it had happened. I am of the opinion that Lyra is likely the kinder and gentler pony of the two. We all know of Twilight's inclination towards being anti-social, however that didn't stop Lyra from waving to Twilight in a warm and friendly manner when Twilight ran by her. So I am sorry to disagree, but I think the reality regarding Lyra is quite the opposite of what you assert. ;)

Not necessarily. I don't think of Lyra as gentle, she seems very forward in everything she does (waving to someone she should know by now wouldn't wave back, crying as soon as she felt sad, etc.), but I wasn't trying to imply that she's unkind. My idea of her being a tomboy stems from her unkempt mane - she might be into sports, like Rainbow Dash and not bother combing it, since she'll soon be off doing whatever she does again. She's got those funny/strange/human-like poses, that would imply she doesn't care what others think (Bon Bon being, as you said, kind of a b*tch, would have told her it looks odd) and "in the power of her emotions" wasn't ment to imply that she's a hot-head (I can't picture her as one at all), but rather that she acts the way she feels without thinking (such as before-mentioned crying).

It's just different ways to interpret the same actions. ^_^

  12. I envision Derpy as a shatterbrained girly-girl, with no attention span, but a big heart. Perhaps a bit immature. Just a really fun mare to be around. ^_^

Lyra I see as a somewhat chaotic pony; an energic tomboy, with no care for others' opinions, but completely in the power of her emotions. Bon Bon I see as her opposite, caring a lot about her own appearance and generally a bit of a valley girl, perhaps with some jerk-tendencies, but genuinely nice if one gets to know her.

With Octavia, I completely go with the idea that she's Pinkie Pie's sister, so I think she's trying her best to become a stoic upper-class mare and leave her time on the rock farm behind. I still believe she loves her family very much, she might just think they're in the way of her career.

Then there's the almost completely unknown background pony, known as Lotus Blossom (or Frou Frou, depending on who you ask). She's the mare who got her mane ruined by the CMC in "The Show Stoppers" and ran away screaming... in a squeaky voice. I fell in love with her at once and immediately found a personality for her: due to her unusual voice, Lotus has a hard time being taken seriously, so one day when she was a filly, she simply stopped trying. From then on, she just did whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted and used her wits and unique charm to get what she wanted. She makes a living of singing the strangest songs, but for the most part just travels around Equestria, having a blast. For added cool, lotus flowers actually symbolize getting through a rough patch in your life and moving on. Her cutie mark, being one of these, symbolize her ability to make the best of any situation.

Haven't really given the other known BG's much thought, but I love all the different fan-interpretions. :D

  13. Wow, these are great! If I hadn't already requested a sig' from Revion, I'd be sure to be here, when you started taking requests. But alas, I'll just stick around and see what you do for everyone else. ;)

  14. *starts to remove the author t....* whaaaaaaaat?! No just kidding. I like the art, keep it up :)

Dohoho, I see whatcha did there. Thanks! XD

Pretty picture of the two! I just don't understand how Pinkie is on the clou-oh wait, it's Pinkie, nevermind. :P

That's exactly what I told someone on deviantART. Never question physics, when Pinkie's involved.

However, like I told the Deviant, I imagine Pinkie had just bounced up through the clouds from her trampoline, landed on Dash's back, forgot to hold on with both hooves, when she saw that adorable baby-cloud and is about to fall back through the cloud. That's why her tail is sticking through the bottom of the cloud, while Rainbow's is just kind of... lying there.

    And thank you! :D

I love the way you drew both of them. The clouds are good, I could have done without the bigger curls, but it doesn't ruin the image at all. Amazing drawing.

Thank you so much! I actually thought about having either huge curls or tiny curls, but couldn't decide, so I just threw in both. But I see what you mean. Next time, smaller curls it is! Thanks again. ^_^

I think they look a teeny bit too fat, but other than that, it's awesome. Also if you say that this is romantic, doesn't that mean Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash are lesbians?

Nah, it just means I wish they were. I doubt the show would ever touch a topic like that, so I think it's open for interpretion.

On the topic of fat ponies, you're right, they do look a bit bloated. I have a habit of styling ponies too skinny, so I was trying to avert that. Guess I overdid it, heh. But thanks for the critic, every bit helps! :D

  15. Uh-oh. Please don't confuse me with the admin "Twilight Sparkle" - I'm "TwilightSparkle" without the space. I don't want to have to give up this name if it gets confusing.

    Oh, I'm so sorry! My mistake - had to type quickly for a moment there and completely forgot to think. I doubt it'll be a problem, I just had an idiot-moment. Sorry. ^^;

  16. Everything Discord does, ever, especially his interactions with Twilight. They're so unlike each other, their scenes are bound to be interesting.

Also, like mod!Twilight said, the scenes of show!Twilight's heart breaking, as her friends left her and then how her faith is renewed, is just tearjerking. In addition, when she gets Applejack back to normal - especially with the music in the background.

And of course, the funny stuff is right when they get back to Twilight's house. Her voice actor is so great at showing anger. "It's my book and I'M GONNA READ IT!"

  17. post-52-0-23957000-1317814982_thumb.png

I know the title is unbelivably tacky, but I also find its level of sugary adorableness to fit the picture, more or less. Also, please full view, it's way huge.

I've got a thing for clouds. When you think about it, they might just be the last thing left on this Earth uncontrolled by humans. Naturally, they're 20% cooler with ponies and that's how this picture was born.

So here we have Rainbow Dash showing Pinkie Pie just how awesome beforementioned clouds really are, as she holds her above them with her pegasus-powers. I've always thought it was a bit sad for Pinkie that she lost her wings, while the show was being developed. I wouldn't change a thing about her (or Fluttershy, who got her wings), but I think she would've enjoyed bouncing around on clouds, like she did in "Sonic Rainboom". Hence her expression here.

I must say, this is my favorite pairing in the whole series and this was intended as romantic, but it can of course be viewed any way you like. The heart-shaped markings in the clouds fall a bit flat, if ment plathonic, though.

Speaking of, some might ask: "What's with the clouds? Clouds aren't flat! OR curled in fashionable ways!" ... Honestly, I have no idea. I was trying something new and stylish, and honestly, I think it looks pretty good. I also gave up trying to copy the show's style and just gave in to my style again. Gives better results, methinks.

Critic? Opinions? 3-word comments? All is welcome! Just please stick to commenting on the art and not the pairing. I'm pretty sure that belongs in the shipping-thread, over at Show Discussion. Unless you want to say something really nice about the art, involving the ship, 'cause I would definitely want to hear that. Savvy? ;)

This image can also be found on my deviantART-profile, under the username TheSketcherKid. Everyone is more than free to use it wherever they like, as long as they don't remove the author tag at the bottom. I would also be very happy, if you could include a link to my deviantART somewhere, but it's not required. I'm just really, really lonesome over there.

  18. I kind of feel a bit... forced to dislike the jerks in this show. Especially Trixie and Gilda. Instead of using their full potential to create a character we can relate to, the writers just kept pressing on how bad their behaviour was. In both their cases, I would've like to see a lot more depth, like the attention given to good characters. Their glamour-failiures are treated as comedic and something for the audience to laugh at, instead of real character flaws.

In Trixie's case, I would've liked to see a more insecure side to her personality. That stage-persona obviously isn't natural, but even when everyone finds out about her lies, she still pretends she loves herself as much as she claims. Just 1 shot of a sad expression, when she realizes her cover is blown, would've added so much to her character. But no, the writers just pretend everything's fine.

With Gilda, I would really want to know her backstory. Why is she the way she is? It's like they say "Pfft, who cares, she's a jerk! Jerks have no souls!". Also, I wish they'd actually written her as the "cool" type she wants to be, instead of all the out-dated slang and raspy voice. Her last scene sort of gives her a better characterization, coming off as actually pretty awesome for a while, until she she discards Rainbow Dash as "BFF", coming off as plain stupid once again.

The show really makes a point of dividing the good and the bad. But we all know, in real life, it's not like that. There's more to real jerks than just being annoying; there's a reason they are the way they are. But instead of showing a more humane side, the writer's spend all their time wacking us over the head with their rudeness.

Funny thing is, I love the way they write the actually evil characters. Wish they'd shower a bit on that on the jerks.

  19. I've always thought they were between 16 and 22. I'd say Rarity (22) > Applejack (20) > Twilight Sparkle (19) > Fluttershy/Rainbow Dash (18) > Pinkie Pie (17).

Mainly because Pinkie is the only one who seems to live with anyone (Mr. and Mrs. Cake). I don't know about everyone else, but it seemed to me in "The Cute Mark Chronicles", that Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were in the same class, though I see that Fluttershy actually looks older than the others. It might just be an early growth-spurt, though, otherwise she'd be older than the rest of the mane cast, since they all have the same height, even as fillies. I dunno. Just my thoughts. :)
