  1. Night Shine
Hiya everypony! Sorry for posting this late. Anywaiz, here's a breakdown of what I liked, specifically and conceptually, about Games Ponies Play:

    1) The dual nature of Games Ponies Play and Just For Sidekicks.
This is something new that I've never seen before, and MLP has never done before. New formats/styles of episodes are usually fresh and interesting if they're not too much of a change, and this certainly was not a huge change. This style works because in the ending and beginning scenes you get (or at least I got ) that "OMG I C WUT U DID THAR :D" feeling, which is always nice.

    2) Filly Dashie.
...is one of the most adorable things in existence. That is all

...i spose that's it. Not to say that this wasn't a good episode--it was, it was actually really funny and the humorous parts were done well--but rather there's not very much that I could specifically point to and say "that was really cool!". So...yeah.
    ._.

...have a nice night everypony! Or, day, rather. Whichever is appropriate x3
  2. Night Shine
Ohai everypony! Night Shine here, and as usual, I'm going to take a look at what made the newest episode awesome.

    1) Applejack character development.
I've felt for a while, and I'm sure that i'm not the only one, that Applejack has an extremely business-oriented mind....a little too business-oriented. Kind of like Twilight is way too organized for her own good, AJ often thinks of things in terms of output product rather than having a fun time--this is displayed in many episodes; the only ones i can think of off of the top of my head are Winter Wrap Up, Best Night Ever and Applebuck Season. Anyway, whenever a character in a show with slice-of-life style episodes has flaws, fleshing these out and developing them always makes for a good story and good character development. Also this is good because I've heard that a lot of fans have complained about a lack of AJ development episodes.

    2) Applejack sings!
This is almost self-explanatory, and so many other bronies have discussed this that nearly everything I could say would be redundant. Every other Mane 6 character has had her own personal song (in many occassions, multiple times), and now AJ has hers. Still, I also wanted to point out that I loved the style of this song in that it's a good ol' Wild West hoedown, something that the show hasn't really done before that fits Applejack perfectly.

    3) Returning side characters.
Many episodes, such as Boast Busters, Griffon the Brush Off, A Friend In Deed, etc, have side characters whose interaction with one or multiple of the Mane 6 is the focus of the episode. Most of the time these characters are never seen or heard from again, even though we as the audience are attached to said characters because they were developed well in their respective episode. However, when one of these characters that we all miss does return, it is freaking epic. If one could say that Magic Duel was awesome because Trixie returned, one could in theory say that Apple Family Reunion is doubly awesome because Babs Seed and Braeburn returned (as far as characters we know well). Although they both got nowhere near as much screen time as Trixie, it's still amazing just to even see them again.

So, those are my thoughts. What are your thoughts on my thoughts? :3

    Hiya everypony!

Sorry that this is so late. I was at a school ski team event and only JUST got the opportunity to watch the new episode. D:

Still, just like last time I wanted to share my thoughts on what worked really well/what I liked about this episode:

    1) Confidence vs Overconfidence.
This theme is very relevant to Rainbow Dash's character. She is very confident. extremely awesome and has a very strong will, but her fatal flaw is in her ego. Therefore, for her character development, episodes that touch on this theme are extremely important.

They attempted to make this into an episode with Mysterious Mare Do Well, but that episode is generally disliked because it displays Rainbow Dash failing with her struggle against her deadly pride. This episode showed that Rainbow Dash is confident, but not overconfident by contrasting her with a character who is pretty much what RD would be without her loyalty to her friends.

Speaking of which, the next thing I like about this episode was...

    2) Element Development.
I really love when the show displays exactly why each character represents the Element that they do. Suited for Success displayed why Rarity represents Generosity, A Friend in Deed showed why Pinkie is Laughter, etc. Likewise this episode reaffirmed why RD is Loyalty.

The way that the show displays Rainbow as Loyalty is very intriguing to me. They show that she struggles with her pride, which goes against her loyalty, but in the end she will always, always, stick by her friends to the very end.

Sooo that's my rant for this week. Again, sorry it's so late. Bai!
