  1. The more I hear people use the words transgender and trans-sex (or transexual) in the same sentence with little distinction between them, the more I feel bewildered about my own definitions between them. To me, and again this is only a current snapshot of my awareness on the subject, a transgender person is a biologically original individual who dresses and acts like the opposing gender. A transexual person is a visually completely normal person, acting just as their gender ought to, coupled with behaviors that stem properly from their visual sex, but have the opposing sexual organs. I know a lot of people who fall into the latter, and just about as many of the former, and the latter all declare themselves as transexuals, and not a one of them has a homosexual relationship. ... though at that point it's difficult to say what that word even means when someone who looks and acts like a girl is entirely capable of literally fathering a child. Oh I forgot my point. That's cool too.
  2. Great post, and thanks for sharing. When enough stories like this are accumulated, there should be a "tipping point" where an assembly of these tales can be collected and reviewed and authored to their sources and signed off on or something. It's still far from scientific proof, but how in the hay are we dealing with something that science can tackle, if they barely have a hold on what consciousness is in the first place?
  3. That's an interesting situation, though not that uncommon. I have a friend who matches that description, and she declares herself to be a Demisexual. I don't see anyone combating her usage of the term, so alright.
  4. I can't seem to appreciate sashimi in the same light as maki rolls. Sashimi tends to be chunky with the mental potential to be stringy, even though it may not be. Sushi is a divinely wonderful burst of flavor if you do it right. I recently combined egg salad, tuna salad, and some sort of lox spread salad on a tortilla chip. I don't remember what happened but I think I woke up on top of the roof with no clothes on. It was probably really delicious.
  5. Sushi literally means seasoned rice. I've made plenty of rolls that have no fish whatsoever. Manzanilla olives, scallion cream cheese, avocado, and cucumber make an excellent roll. Maybe it's sashimi that you're thinking of, though you can of course put raw fish into a maki roll, given that 90% of them contain it.
  6. Over the course of my entire Elementary school stint, I had this pencil box that I would always keep on my desk. It contained absolutely innumerable paper clips; as many as there are grains of sand on all the beaches of the world. Every day I would add a few dozen paperclips onto it when I was bored, only during class, or in lieu of recess or when the teacher left the room for whatever reason. This box was the legend of the classroom. A week before graduation, a bunch of us got together to measure this thing. It contained 17,448 paper clips, at 1.375 inches apiece. The total length of this monstrosity was about inches, or just under 2,000 feet. It's still sitting in my room somewhere, I think. It's been a few years. <.<
  7. I'm watching this video and my mind is reeling with how insane any of that must taste. Oh my god. I think I am reveling in something.
  8. That first bowl of pasta, fresh from the mixing bowl. It's at its very best right there and then. And it's all yours. Oh yes. Just as with the original post, harvesting the semi-literal fruits of your labor from the garden is a fantastic feeling. So simple, yet so joyful and pure. When I take apart a laptop completely, find a problem and replace it, everything snaps into place, and you put it all back together again and there are no screws left over, and it turns on and everything works perfectly. That's more of a relief than a simple joy, but still. Great topic! Thank you!
  9. "Those Who Dance Are Considered Insane by Those Who Can’t Hear the Music" ~Someone. To answer that question, I feel as if being open also implies that if you have made yourself into something, you can continue to make yourself into other things as well. I mean, think of how many things have molded you into the person that you are today? What's one more change? Surely you can change yourself out of even that by being open in a similar way? Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I've done plenty of those "change yourself by thinking about it" things, and I'm still somewhat sane.
  10. The majority of the time that I've accidentally donned a pair of garments meant for the opposing gender, I have found them to be comfortable. There was this pair of fuzzy black socks that I really liked, but kept slipping down my ankles while I walked. I now take to wearing two pairs of socks for the utility, but at least one of them ought to be warm and cozy. :-3 I'd wear a manly pair of socks and a girly pair at the same time. Let none be the wiser. > >,
  11. I've only ever really worn gender-neutral clothing through sheer happenstance. Every day I feel too neutral to be anything in either direction. Well ain't that just the wave of the future, huh. Long live the hoodie.
  12. Dirac - That's terrible, and I am so sorry. I'm fairly sure that the majority of people don't want to endanger their own lives before they even really begin, and wouldn't go out having crazy unprotected orgies while drinking and driving while smoking fifteen different things at the same time on the surface of the planet Venus where it's slightly dangerous to breathe. Where was I going with this. ..right. The kids who actually want to succeed in life can just ask for the important biological advice, or go on the internet (like with anything else) but are already self-aware enough not to do something stupid. So these aforementioned classes are more like accident-prevention classes than classes on how to properly engage yourself in adult achievement-oriented activities. That's why I opt to engage my attention span with two jobs and a lot of studying in my spare, albeit shrinking time. I repeatedly receive reports from people who have attended the variety of schooling that I am interested in that they wish they hadn't, and had spent their time studying at home due to laughable classroom curriculums, which Firefox does not believe is a word. Good job there.
  13. Gah. The concept of school tries so hard, but can't be perfect. Everything that needs to be said has already been said. I too have always yearned for a "life skills" class. I wish my schedule had been free for that one Home-Ec class that they offered in High School. Instead, there's a Youtube channel to fill in the gaps. Where were the classes on how to do your taxes and buy stocks and bonds? Where? You have to find that information from your local library or on the internet. Hell, in 9th grade, a history textbook had an incorrect fact, and no teacher caught it. I'm sure it was its own isolated incident but it was very telling.
  14. Just started up a game of Bulletstorm! My god this game is amazing. Everything is so content-filled, if that makes any sense. You're always doing something interesting, so it seems. No area gets too boring. It changes it up before you get bored.
  15. I don't mean to go all horoscope or anything, but I think you just described me as well as yourself. How did that happen? Though again, the first nine words of my post are response enough. I don't even really like to use snarky sarcasm. I know that it's rude and uncalled for. I definitely don't mean any harm, but it appears to be the internally appropriate response to questions that can extremely easily be answered by the person who asks the question itself.
  16. You're not kidding. I agree with this post. I thoroughly enjoy Doom for every reason listed above. The ZDoom community has been absolutely thriving, and I don't think there has ever been a serious lull in its activity, at least not as long as I've been there. Also check out the mod "Aeons of Death" for Doom. I've been testing it for a while, and it's just getting more and more fun.
  17. The first one brings me to tears, and I just can't stop listening to it. I mean not at all. It's crazy. The second one really makes Porter Robinson - Language (radio edit) come alive. Gets me every time.
  18. The majority of the time, I'm the lithe, wry, wily race, whichever it is. I'm almost always a Rogue, or Thief, if they have one. I am an absurdedly devoted kleptomaniac, and have very little restraint in literally taking the clothes off your back while your back is turned. If that makes any sense. It probably doesn't. I enjoy attacking swiftly from the shadows, getting in, getting it done, and getting out in one precise motion, then doing it again from a different angle. Two short-swords are above and beyond my favorite weapons. I focus on agility related stats to the point where my Dodge score is high enough to not need armor class, which would restrict weapon skills a bit anyway. I had a Rogue on a World of Warcraft private server who eventually had a dodge score that was high enough that I could solo Black Temple. The scripts weren't enabled, of course, but I could definitely just stand there while making a sandwich and come back to my character being nigh untouched.
  19. It's very kind of you to provide such a vivid and detailed introduction to the subject. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fascinating. I'm attempting to wriggly my way into the field at the moment, and am studying up on anything I can get my hands on. Tell me, what are your opinions on Firesheep?
  20. Yes! Very much yes. I'm so deeply entrenched into the Unreal Tournament series. The weapons are all fantastic, and the physics are so fluid and beautiful, like the games' engines. There's nothing like a Flak Cannon to brighten your day!
  21. To be honest, if you're happy with the way things are now, then I am both happy for you, as well as impressed. It's not every day that I see something like that. I remember when I was -extremely- happy with getting Half Life 1 to run at 55+ frames per second under 320 x 200 resolution on a Pentium II 300 MHZ machine. Hot diggity.
  22. Glad you have your optimum. I'm also glad that your PSU is working for you. 300 Watts is tiny compared to most of what's on the market. I wouldn't feel comfortable with anything less than 550 these days. Most mid to high end graphics cards shouldn't be running on anything less than 750 to feel secure, if you are into doing serious gaming. I had a PC of similar specs to you a few years ago, and it ran beautifully with 500 Watts. The temperature range was a tiny bit higher than yours currently are, at 74°C on average for the GPU diode, with 55°C processor temperatures.
  23. We named her Bumblebee. It handles like a tiny pony though. Mostly when her tires are all chunky. EDIT: She can go 25 miles per hour. I feel more comfortable taking her out on the road than an actual sedan. The forklift handles like a dream. I can run an obstacle course in ten seconds flat. Had to say it. Seriously though, do not get in a road rage battle with me. I will win. I lift things up and put them down. I will. I will and I do.
  24. No. No actually, I think I have the opposite condition. I keep thinking that I'm fine when I'm probably not. For all I know, I'm missing a leg. "Yeah just walk it off, kid." Okay. Besides, I'm in one of those camps that believe those mind-over-matter stories about people believe themselves to be well and actually getting well, Maybe that's why I never get stick. Terribly faulty reasoning, but I don't get sick, so, coincidence.
  25. I went through a phase where I was challenging myself to use non-traditional utensils on foods that are already difficult to eat with conventional weaponry eating utensils. I bought a pair of ceramic chopsticks from the Mitsuwa festival in New Jersey, and lost them a few months later. Very efficient. I used them for far too many things. It's not every day you can say that you've eaten pudding with chopsticks.
