  1. I play RPGs for the fun of exploring a fantasy world, though occasionally I enjoy trying to beat the system. Strategy and puzzle games I play for a challenge, but I still don't worry about being a champion or anything.

I know some people do play video games competitively, but if you're not in the competitive league it shouldn't matter. For a select few people who are good enough to earn money playing them skill matters, but for everyone else they don't do anything but pass the time and hone general skills like problem-solving or reading.

  2. I haven't been here very long, so I haven't gotten comfortable enough to really let my online personality show. Because of that I probably reflect my quiet, hesitant real self fairly well. Elsewhere on the Internet a lot of people mistake me for a confident extrovert because I like joking around so much and always speak my mind - as soon as I'm feeling sure of my surroundings. I express myself better through text, too.

  3. Sometimes I've seen shows I just couldn't watch because of the content, like the ones where they take people struggling with an issue and document the whole, often embarrassing, recovery process. I just feel so bad for them and the fact that the whole thing is on TV for the everyone to look at (and I'm sure some people are even getting a laugh out of it), but I guess they must have consented to it being aired...

  4. This semester I'm thinking of starting a group on campus for fans, since I can't seem to find one. I have a few questions, though!

    1) Where should I advertise?

    2) How long should it be?

    3) What kind of things make good activities?

    4) How do I help with potential awkwardness during the first few meetings and get everyone involved?

    5) Anything else?

  5. Seems a little unnecessary to me, but I hope it eases some tension about your interest in ponies and you can just go on enjoying them.

Only one person offline knows I watch this show. I imagine the rest would be all "Ah! Ponies! Ugh!" about it, but not really care in the end. We're all pretty strange.

  6. Come to think of it... do ponies have any choice in their cutie mark or trade, or is it something that they just uncover and go with? Do they do the same things their whole lives, or like people do they sometimes learn different trades and skills? Has any pony ever not been satisfied with theirs?

  7. This isn't the first time I've heard of people being total pricks over toys and merchandise, but it's always disappointing to read about. I remember there was a lot of hype and a few incidents over some Tickle Me Elmo doll years ago, and probably other things I can't remember.

I'm not a collector or an eBay seller, and I really have no perspective on what goes through their heads...

  8. I've always imagined Discord as having a sillier theme as opposed to a spooky one, but as a first composition this is solid. The next one should maybe have some changes in things like tempo and melody to make it stand out more. I'm not too music-smart so that's all I have to say. ;x

  9. I have been a Mass Effect fan since 2007. I don't know if you guys heard about the negative hype over the ending of ME3, but it really broke the heart of the fanbase. We are still butt hurt about the ending, even though Bioware tried to "fix" it. Because of this, a lot of us are sensitive to perceived "jabs" made at the series or the fanbase.

If you haven't played ME yet, let me recommend something. If you like story, start playing in ME1 through ME2. If you like action, start with ME2 through ME3. If you like action and story, play the whole series and turn off ME3 right before the ending. Also, try to buy the games used.

Oh, hm... I did hear quite a bit about that, mostly from my friends since I've never played ME, but that makes sense I guess. Still, I think it should be clear to most that it's fan art and not a jab.

  10. I'd like to fall in love and have a happy, lifelong relationship with a nice girl, but if it doesn't happen I'll still enjoy my life solo. That's what I'm trying to do. I mistakenly let the pursuit of love make me miserable a couple times when I was younger, and if I'm going to do it now it's going to be with someone who really gets me and has a good heart.

  11. The smell of lilacs always reminds me of my childhood in general, because some of the neighbors had them and I loved them so much (just plain purple ones). They were always there when I was outside playing, at least until my family moved.

... I like smells, but other than that I don't have a lot of memories attached to them.
