If they could fix whatever defect she has that prevents her from flying, that would be a wonderful thing.
It also mirrors the long wait for technology to fix problems in our society. "You will never be able to walk/see/hear again" followed by "new experimental treatment has possibilities" to a happy ending does happen sometimes.
Where there is time, there is hope.
