The recent advent of superheroes had brought crime nearly to zero, and the city became a sprawling metropolis as a result. The economy flourished, and everyone thought things were perfect. However, that was three years ago. Now, Tollopolis is a much different place. The criminals of old were largely replaced with supervillains, criminals with skills and abilities to rival the newly dominant superheroes. While these two groups were duking it out for supremacy in the city, the citizens were becoming more and more terrified of what was going on. This terror was only expanded by the arrival of the Maelstrom. Known only for their calling card, a small painting of a storm at sea, this assassin began to kill anyone someone wanted dead for a substantial fee. No one knew who they were, just that it didn't matter how many guards or how much security there was in a place, they were seemingly able to get through everything, whether it be through a strange energy weapon that seemed to destroy any guards in their path, or just by slipping through a previously unseen vulnerability. The police, in a fit of desperation, reach out to the superhuman community of the city, offering a 2 million dollar reward for anyone with actionable information about the killer, and a 5 million reward on top of that for anyone able to bring them in, dead or alive.

A hero, preferably a straight one rather than an anti-hero

Yeah, that's a little overpowered honestly. If it wasn't EVERYTHING he can perceive I think you would maybe be able to swing it, but that's pretty overpowered. How about this instead: Blood crystallization: Works mainly the same, but while it makes his blood harder to bleed it also makes him more brittle, making strikes against him take more force to do something, but doing lasting damage if they do manage to do damage in that form. Devil's eye: Works on a concept of energy storage. If he can see an attack (eye implies sight after all), he can choose to absorb its energy rather than taking the hit as damage. This energy storage can occur to a certain point, at which time he must release it all somehow or his body will rip itself apart. Yeah, you're in, what do you want to play?

That would probably be a good idea, though if you want to run some of them as antiheroes instead that would be good too.

Well, let's just say that escalated quite quickly. Might have to run some NPC heroes instead of an NPC villain for a while, unless I can figure out how to unite things under a common enemy *schemes*

Also, having at least one hero in the group is nice! @@MarionEtte136, Yep, this character looks pretty good, though the Umbra stuff looks a bit dicey depending on how it works. Anyway, let's get on with the show! First and formost, this is a primarily human RP, so if your character isn't human prepare to humanize them in some way. Second, some basic rules: 1. All characters get posted here for approval before they are added to the RP. 2. Your characters' secret identities are secret for a reason. If your character has a civilian form, have them use it sometimes. 3. No having your character defeat another player's character without giving them a chance to fight back, and no acting as someone's character for them. 4. Keep your characters relatively balanced, no gods or anything like that. Now that we've gotten all the boring stuff out of the way, here's the prompt: Tollopolis is a thriving metropolis, but it had a serious crime problem, until superheroes began to appear. Almost overnight, traditional crime dropped precipitously. Petty criminals simply couldn't compete with people who didn't have the same limits as they did. However, once heroes began to appear so did villains. Unfortunately for the citizens of Tollopolis, this arms race has just taken a turn for the worse. A recent rash of high-profile assasinations has been occurring, and no one knows anything about the killer aside from the fact that they can get in and out of a crime scene without a trace. @, Patch nods and checks his cover, before dashing to another point along the wall closer to the crossroads that were his ultimate destination. He notices the zealot on his left and slips into cover where it can't see him, "Sir, that zealot buddy of yours has got me locked down pretty tight right now. if there's some sort of way to take him out you've thought of I'd like to know it now, if not I'm afraid I'll have to find an alternate point to rendezvous with you all." He begins to mentally plot out a route, hoping to not die horribly before he can rejoin his squad.

After what seems to an eternity to him, Patch finally gets his drop pod to release and allow him to descend from the frigate to the battlefield below. Deciding not to let technology fail him again, he begins manually exerting what little control he has over the pod in order to land near his comrades. Picking a spot that appears to be clear he crashes down behind the remains of a fallen building to the southeast of Spec's position. As the drop pod deploys around him he scrambles into cover and checks his comms. Keying in the radio frequency for his squad again he frantically shouts, "Patch is on station! Drop pod wouldn't deploy till now, what needs doing?"
