ooc Superheroes RP (OOC)
FractalMoon replied to Skullbuster's topic in Everfree Planning, OOC & Discussion
Paging Then we're back where we started unfortunately. Without a villain capable of challenging Weiss in a straight fight whatsoever. I can think of a few ways to get away with things, but it would still be her curbstomping people left and right and a single villain doing things. Paging @Skullbuster Hey, where are you at? -

Paging Not sure if having you play another character would be the best idea. I'm enjoying your style so far, but you already have a rather powerful character, so it would be kinda boring to just have you fighting yourself all the time. -

Damn, the hero side is stacked as all hell right now. I wonder how this is going to shake out. Honestly though, with the relative power levels of the heroes and villains, there's going to need some serious buffing/nerfing going on if parity is expected. That said, parity may not be expected, but if this is supposed to be based on conflict and not just the heroes crushing the villains, something may have to change. -
Paging @Jellal Fernandes The closet opens as he approaches it, obviously motion activated, and reveals a ladder down to something subterranean. The rest of the closet is lighted and has various tools hanging from its doors, but no indication of anything of particular value aside from the ladder, which looks like it may lead to something of interest. Paging , In the corner of his eye Abaddon sees a flash of light from someone taking a picture, staring at him in uncomprehending confusion, not knowing what he could possibly be.

Paging @rolle See, that's the question. Would the application of anti-sound (Basically a wave of opposite amplitude that destructively interferes with and cancels out sound) damage them since it basically eliminates sound? -
ooc Superheroes RP (OOC)
FractalMoon replied to Skullbuster's topic in Everfree Planning, OOC & Discussion
Paging @rolle But disrupting the sound waves would disrupt their ability to interact with the area, right? -
Paging @Derplight Sperkle Silverlight nods, "Yeah, I don't know you, but I'll take your word for it if you need me to." She chuckles, "From a purely economic sense that makes a lot of sense. I don't work with fixers often, but I've found that a lot of them are total sociopaths, so meeting one who isn't is a wonderful change of pace." She watches the area get more and more run-down, then nods, "You're probably going to want to set up a couple of safe-houses in town if you are planning on staying, there are traffic-analysis algorithms that they could use to trace down the location of your stash, and that's never good..."
-
Paging @Derplight Sperkle Silverlight's expression suddenly becomes more serious, "We can see them live if you want, but I'm going to sound an evacuation alarm before everything explodes... This is about destroying corporate property and making it look like corporate espionage, not about killing civilians. The more people who die, the more likely it is that someone tries to investigate it rather than just taking the misdirection at face value." she smiles, "Either way though, with proper application and placement of the explosives, we could probably bring down the whole building with a minimum of casualties. Now that would be an effective blow against the corporate structure choking this town...."

Paging @rolle Are Neri/Sheroe made physically up of coherent sound waves, or do they just have sound-like properties to them? -

I've been up till at least 2 every day for like a week since that's when Derplight posts and he's the character I'm interacting with right now. My Kingdom for a reasonable interaction time -

Paging True, though I suppose some people/Characters have the moral code of 'the job comes first' as inherent parts of them. Anyway, it's like 1:30 here, so I'm gonna go pass out now. See y'all later when the RP continues or I'm conscious enough to talk on the OOC. -

FractalMoon replied to Skullbuster's topic in Everfree Planning, OOC & Discussion
Paging Good to know for the future. Then again, everyone's morals are different. One person may think blowing up a major corporation is a bad thing, while another may see it as striking a blow for the people. On a similar note, a lot of the characters in this aren't purely good nor are they purely evil. At least, I hope there is a lot of depth to them, where their moral convictions come first and the job comes second. -

Paging All you need to know: the bigger the number is, the more likely the thing is to totally obliterate you. One day someone will ask, "Fractal, why did you stay up till 1 in the morning calculating the force of a fictional character's abilities for a roleplay on a pony forum?" and I will answer, "I have no clue whatsoever." Back on the topic of this OOC though, how does Sasha deal with moral ambiguity? Is she more likely to do what's legal, or what's right? -

Paging Never underestimate the power of Newtonian physics. I was legitimately concerned when I was doing the unit conversions how you would react, I'm glad you went with "Yeah, let's tone that down a bit" and not "Excellent... Smithers, release the hounds..." The big problem is people throw around big numbers of magnification, but don't extrapolate them. If she's already a peak human, that means she stands a very good chance of breaking bones by punching them. At any magnification, let alone that many degrees of magnitude, you're looking less at a superhuman and more at a WMD with the ability to get mad and set itself off. -

Paging So, I was a little bored and since I'm going to do a capability analysis in character later anyway I decided to do a bit of math regarding Sasha in Supernova form for you. Now, this is relying on a few assumptions, but the math should work out well. Alright, so according to you she's in peak physical condition, according to what research I could do, the record for kicking power in female MMA is around 830 PSI. that's out baseline. To get the Supernova value, we multiply that value by 45, since 3*15=45 and mercifully this is linear scaling and not exponential scaling. This gives you a value of approximately 37,350 psi at the point of impact. This number is rather impressive on its own, seeing as most industrial hydraulic presses max out at approximately 20,000 psi. However, let's convert it into a more physics friendly number. Specifically, when changed to a universal unit of force, the value is a staggering 25,751.92 newtons a square centimeter. For reference, when a human bites down, its largest exertion of applied force, that's around 540 newtons, several orders of magnitude lower. To cancel out the square centimeter we multiply it by average size of a woman's foot, 258.064 cm(2) to get a total force value of 6,903,162.683. We then divide this by the mass of an average woman's foot, 1.288 kilograms, to get an acceleration value of around 53,595.98356 cm per second squared. That's about as fast as a navy-calibre rail gun , and far faster than supersonic. TL;DR: using speculative mathematics I have realized that if Weiss really went full out, a single strike of hers could level a city block, and the expanding plasma cloud would burn everything for a few hundred meters. Then again, speculative math is a force for breaking characters, and maybe comic book physics work in some way to nerf her severely. TL;DR FOR THE TL;DR: Weiss is hideously powerful if she is already in peak physical form. Late night math is a horrifying thing. Edit: two degrees of ten off on the acceleration calculation, forgot was using kicking values, not punching, fixed -

To extend this, there's something that hasn't been looked at in this RP yet, though it may in the future. Some characters are powerful in this universe, some are less powerful. The less powerful ones have to focus on fighting smart to even the odds. For example, it's doubtful anyone could take Sasha in a straight fight, but there are a few ways to counter her in her current form. I'm thinking of doing a sort of in-character 'report' on the various people Silverlight meets and posting them here (or in universe on a forum of some sort) just so people can learn ways as such. I do have a question though, how exactly does Sasha's 'tendency' ability eork? Does it sense like someone's morals, or base its judgment on what they've done, or what? -

In a world of people who can punch through buildings, call lightning, and create better Living through chemistry, maybe it is. -
Paging @Jellal Fernandes One of the monitors connected to the computer flickers for a fraction of a second as an alarm is sent to Silverlight when the unauthorized device connects, but the encrypted data is transferred nonetheless. As Emile pokes around in the hideout he doesn't find much of note, aside from what appears to be a high frequency radio frequency pulse weapon, a post it note with a phone number on it, and a few clean hoodies. In the corner of his eye, he sees a slight light shining from what appears to be a closet nailed to the wall.

Paging @Derplight Sperkle Don't we all have fun letting out our little sociopathic side every once in a while? I mean, at least I do. For the record, and so people aren't confused when things go abruptly to Hell very soon, Sara is referring to this It's a delightful and terrifying read, and when someone can manufacture chemicals in real time on an atomic scale, actually becomes quite practical. -
Paging @Derplight Sperkle Silverlight smiles, "I have just the stuff for the job... Well I don't have it per-say, but it's a nitrogen compound so it can be readily made from thin air if you have certain... Talents... That I happen to have... Anyway, we should get going to grab your gear so we can start the party, or else we're just talking about a firework show instead of putting on one! I can't imagine the look on their faces when they find out what happened... It'll be priceless!" she smirks and gets into the car, ready to retrieve Shade's tools.
-
Paging @Derplight Sperkle Silverlight looks back toward Shade, her eyes hidden by the shadow of her hood, "Wow, that Lady was uptight as hell... I wonder what was bothering her..." she shrugs, "How's this for a plan though, based on the schematics they gave us, our best bet is to go in a service entrance while they think there's an attack in the front. What we could do is rig a rifle or three to fire at the main gate while we sneak in, then you clear the path of guards and I'll hack the security system. From there we could just stroll into the elevator and take what we want. And the best part, we can pin it all on E-corp and fuck over two major corporations at the same time while simultaneously shifting the blame from ourselves. What do you think?" she asks curiously

Power creep my friend, it can become quite frightening at times... However, you could always boost Shade's power if you find it lacking. Or just break him by extrapolating his powers, such as having him use a drop of his blood to give his enemies instant cancer b/c out of control regeneration On an unrelated note, Manhattan is probably going to regret assigning that contract anonymously, characters not knowing what their players know can lead to some fun results. -

Paging Sounds exciting. I've had trouble with making overpowered characters before, so I dialed back the power for Sara and focused more on making her really good at a few specific things. If it turns out she can't survive in the world I'll boost her power, but so far I think I found a nice balance. -

, can't lie, I can't wait to see what Weiss is capable of, though I'm a bit afraid of what it means for the bad guys (including Silverlight)
