Warning: some of those shows are shows that most people here might not remember, or where spared from having to watch them. 'kay? -Spider-man unlimited: It was a short-lived late 90's cartoon about Spider-man going to another planet inhabited by fury's, while being fallowed by Venom and Carnage's symbioses. Long story short: it din't last long. -Sherlock holmes in the 22nd century: In a future distopian society, a cop decides to bring Sherlock Holmes back to life in order to rid the city of crime...(yeah). Ironically the BBC would make a live action show of Sherlock Holmes back in modern times. -Gargoyles the Goliath chronicles: What a way to turn an otherwise great series into crap. While Gargoyles was considered avant-garde for Disney shows at the time for its darker visual and storytelling tones. The Golliath chronicles took a complete 180 turn and degraded much like the Batman and Robin movie for that Batman franchise.

movies/tv Why doesn't Nickelodeon make an ALL 90s cartoon channel?
real_equestrian replied to CastletonSnob's topic in Media Discussion
It's more of a consensus issue: -The people that watched these shows now in their 20's-30's -Tween's and kids are the marketable age demographic -There would be a crap-ton of copyright issues involved with that. -While animation is expensive and time consuming, studios have found in the last decade that live-action dramas (the likes of Hannah Montana the naked brothers band etc) are cheaper and more profitable regardless of their quality. So no, a retro Nick channel is highly-unlikely. -
movies/tv Favorite 1980s Animation Outside of MLP
real_equestrian replied to sunbowfan's topic in Media Discussion
Anypony ever hear of Rock and Rule? its an obscure 80's animated movies set in a post-apocalyptic world. The movie is filled with 80's rock songs featuring from the likes of Blondie, Iggy Pop and Lou Reed. Check out the villain song My name is Mok: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSGIZp9bBK4 -
Rarity= Maryse Applejack= Mickie James Funny story: I heard Dolph Ziggler reacted to a ponified pic of himself.

movies/tv Which of These Networks Would You Wish to Make A Spectacular Comeback?
real_equestrian replied to Kelvocity's topic in Media Discussion
Nickelodeon is kind of hit/miss. In the 90's they had their classics, then for the better part of the 2000's i found they relied way too much and re-runs. Then many argued they tried copying the Disney channel with teen comedies like the naked brothers band or ICarly. But then there was Avatar the last airbender that rescued the channel. But then they did a very stupid decision such as cancelling Invader Zim, which had a large cult-fallowing. And many would consider them teeming-up with Fred as a sell-out move (Since many on the internet consider Fred a sell-out). On the other hand Nickelodeon aquired the power rangers franchise, and the contract spans until 2014. I do think they did a pretty good job with Samurai, and i can't wait until the 20th anniversary episode.- 30 replies

ANYTHING PETA says should not be taken seriously. BTW has anyone watched Penn and Teller's Bullshit PETA episode? You can find it on youtube, for those interested in knowing more about PETA, and how much of a fraud they are.

I think that's why "nerds" are more accepted socially today then they were before is because since our world is very dependant on technology, people therefore dependant on the tech-savy folks to make sure their equipment if running properly. I had a similar life experience with a Buddhist monk. He made a poverty vow yet he was the happiest man i ever knew with a great sense of humour. I could not have put it better. Note: Even Brock Lesnar din't make it to the NFL

So Are you a "Closet Brony" to some of your friends?

I do have a modest amount of confidence in myself. I have talents i just don't always know how to use them to my advantage. I'm a hard worker, I have a sense of humour. I tend to use sarcasm a lot, but only to spice-up a conversation or to get someone's attention. I've adopted a more down-to-earth attitude after High-school and avoid radical thinking, because i feel its out of touch with reality. My friends say i'm a great listener. If i could change a few things about myself: I wish i would Stick to something and finishing what i start, procrastination, gotta work on that one. I would give myself a 6/10 because i know there's still things about myself i need to work on.
-
Yeah, i saw that one too. I feel its only recently that "nerds" feel that their territory is being invaded by "non-nerds" or "posers". I really don't remember a similar argument growing-up until a few years ago.

Yes, it's the real Way of the dragon, the movie was Bruce Lee's directorial debut. I like martial arts too, but some Kung fu movies i could recommend: any Bruce Lee movie or try a Jackie Chan movie if your in the mood for a touch of humour.

music Top "Getting Pumped" song or genre?
real_equestrian replied to Bronyponyfanatic's topic in Media Discussion
As for me my vote would go to Through the fire and the flames by Dragonforce: but one of the most energetic songs out there: Say what you want about WIld force s a season, but the theme song is one of my favourites. -
“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.” -Bruce Lee "My dad thought me to be a fighter. you can go on feeling sorry for yourself, or you can be a fighter!" -Jason David Frank a.k.a Tommy Oliver the Green power ranger "The very young do not always do as they are told!" -The Nox, Stargate SG1 (I find this one is a deeper version of "listen to your elders") The next one is a little on the humorous side but rather then explain it i'll show it to you: "You are...out of your mind! HAYAAAAAH!!!" -Tommy Oliver (I'll probably add some more if i think of any)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfX0tIaExmM Of coarse! What else? Also, i'm one of the few people to like Ralph Bakshi's animated Lord of the rings (although the Peter Jackson is far superior). This song plays in my head when i step out of the door:

The verdict is in: you definitely don't look 12, and those who say so quite frankly should consider getting their eyes checked. But i know what its like to look younger then others. My co-worker's jaw's drop when i tell them how old i really am.

Those "I love nerds" type t-shirts are actually worn for a sort of ironic humour. It's like a really skinny our out of shape guy wearring a t-shirt that says "check out my six pack" or "welcome to the gun show". Therefore they should not be taken seriously. Who knows, maybe that t-shirt was on sale and that girl thought it would make her friends laugh. That has something to do with something known by sociologists as: "social Darwinism" Charles Darwin, believed in Natural selection: species adapt to their surroundings to survive. Those who can't adapt are doomed. And only the strong survive. That said: The jocks are ahead of the pack: they're stronger and more confident (perhaps overconfident sometimes) and have a high social standing. The "nerds" typically lack in those three departments. They don't want to be around the nerds, because for them, they represent weakness. Take the Spartans for example, history's most famous jocks: (taken from 300) King Leonidas (to the Persian messenger): "Submission? Well that's a bit of a problem. See, rumor has it the Athenians have already turned you down, and if those philosophers and, uh, boy-lovers have found that kind of nerve, then... (ignores his advisor) ... and, of course, Spartans have their reputation to consider. " modern translation: "Were not tapping-out! where not like those Athenian gay nerds! We've got a reputation to keep!" I've always felt that to become popular, you have to give-up a part of yourself in order to "fit-in" I lived my life being myself and being passionate about my interests, i may never have been popular but i still believe its more important to stay true to yourself. Because once high school is over, they're just going to be another member of society because by this point...

gaming Your favorite racing games
real_equestrian replied to Jon the VGNerd's topic in Media Discussion
Anybody ever heard of running wild? It's an anthro racing game made by the creators of Crash Bandicoot released in 1998. A bit of an obscure title, i enjoyed playing the demo for awhile but found myself a hard copy awhile ago. -
I like chocolate milk, i could never stand the taste of regular milk. I work in a grocery and 1L chocolate milk if often on sale. I've also started to try soy milk in my protein smoothies for post-gym. it's great when blended with a bunch of berries.

I like to think of it this way: there's a reason why some things in the media are called "pop-culture" food for thought. Also this picture should get a laugh out of a few people here:

What do you hate about your school?
real_equestrian replied to ~Sugar Sprinkles~'s topic in General Discussion
WOW! Your rant brought me back so much nostalgia based on the description of your school section i think i found an accurate picture: (a cookie awaits you if you know where that picture is from) My high-school class system was similar to yours, so i remember what its like except on the opposite end of the spectrum (i was in grd 9). I do remember everyone using the freshmen's as scapegoats for our issues as their population TRIPLED the seniors. During the early years separation between grades 8-9+ were strictly enforced, you could swear it felt like a military junta, interaction between the two was VERBOTEN! High schools are extremely paranoid of lawsuits and or ending up on the 6 o' clock news because one incident happened. The would rather take up draconian measures to make sure they avoid those issues. Next time you see one of those guy's you mentioned keep this in mind: swag was a term coined in the 60's by the gay community which stood for "Secretly We Are Gay" Double points if they sag their pants: a trend which started in prisons... (knowing this have a laugh as they make a fool of themselves) As for your crush: I hope it goes somewhere for you two. I think its more important that you be happy then what people think of you. Good luck! And i agree, there should be more girls like Fluttershy around. -
