True Number of Possible Different Universes?
EquestriaGuy replied to EquestriaGuy's topic in General Discussion
aye, that's why I want to limit the range to measurable differences. If a planck volume is the smallest measurable space, and a planck time the shortest measurable time, then that establishes the groundwork for all the math to follow. -

Do you hate something because someone you dislike likes it?

Actually ya. I dislike Gravity Falls because someone I greatly dislike likes it, and I dislike Steven U because of the fandom drama last year. -
True Number of Possible Different Universes?
EquestriaGuy replied to EquestriaGuy's topic in General Discussion
Awesome. Then I guess what we're looking for here are the maximum number of measurable differences in universes. -

I have a very shaky, surface knowledge of topics like astrophysics, but I pay attention enough to understand a few things, and I think I'm pretty good at deducing facts from known variables. Having said this, I wanted to put forth what I think is the number for possible universes. To get this number, which will be FUCKING HUGE (though nothing will probably ever match Graham's Number), I had to determine the size of the universe, and how long the universe will last from beginning to end. Size of the universe= Currently, the largest known object is the Hercules Corona Borealis Great Wall. It's 10B light years across. It's so large, it's said to contradict the Cosmological Priciple, which states that at a sufficient enough scale, all matter is evenly distributed throughout the universe. Therefore, the lower bound for the size of the universe should be whatever makes the Great Wall once again compliant with the Cosmological Principle. This is probably a ghastly huge number. Defining the beginning and end of the universe= It's said that heat death isn't actually the end of the universe. After very long timescales, a particle would inevitably come in contact with another, and through gravity attract others, until once again we have galaxies and an entire universe again, and eventually everything is exactly as it is now. I'm sitting here typing this, you're reading it later, everything is exactly as it was before. This is known as the Poincare Recurrence Time. Some models of inflation have the universe as being a googolplex meters across, and the Poincare recurrence time for a universe that large is 10^10^10^10^10^1.1 years. This number is laughably huge. Luckily, the Poincare recurrence for our observable universe is a mere 10^10^10^10^2.08 years. Don't hold your breath through that one either. So, that brings us to our solution. Let's say you have two parallel universes of a size that brings the Great Wall in compliance with the CP, and those universes have a Poincare Time of 10^10^10^10^10^1.1 years. These universes from beginning to end were mirrors of each other, no differences at all EXCEPT for one Planck second, one Planck volume was different from the other universes equivalent. Maybe the quantum foam in that Planck volume was different somehow, whatever the case may be, this is literally the only difference between them. Now you have to calculate how many different combination of differences there can be for all the Planck volumes and all the Planck seconds in these universes as defined above. This is what I think could be defined as the number of possible universes. Now correct me EVERYWHERE I'm wrong, so I can be laughed at for this wrong and silly idea.

You guys haven't had good coffee until you've bought some from the Citgo outside of ESPN in Bristol, CT. My favorite is the New England brand French Vanilla, with 5 squirts of French vanilla cream and 6 seconds of sugar from the pourer.

Can Mlp ever have the acclaim of bigger pop culture?
EquestriaGuy replied to ManaMinori's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Our entire society is based around the idea entertainment intended for males is superior than female entertainment, and male entertainment must revolve around violence, cynicism, and sexuality. It's indoctrinated in us from day 1. This will never change. MLP can't possibly be accepted unless it incorporates these elements. -

spoiler Science in the MLP show
EquestriaGuy replied to Tel Locus's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
The ultimate incorporation of science into MLP would have been if Twilight didn't bother trying to stop Starlight, because paradoxes are impossible in the real universe, therefore any difference in events in juxtaposition to the established history of her timeline would have been in a parallel universe. Starlight jumps into the portal, Twilight walks away and has cake with Pinkie. Starlight stops the rainboom in a parallel universe, returns to that universe's present and finds it at war with Sombra. It's the ultimate self banishment. -
movies/tv Independence Day: Resurgence | Official Trailer
EquestriaGuy replied to mccuish1525's topic in Media Discussion
It's funny how silly the original movie has become, considering a type 3 civilization was brought down by a type 0, simply because they don't have Norton Antivirus. -

mega thread Season 6 Waiting Thread (Spoilers)
EquestriaGuy replied to Blue Moon's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I've been saying this since November, but I don't think I've said it here, so I'll post my prediction for the premiere date using known facts. Fact 1) They've been done recording for EONS. That 2 parter John De Lancie recorded was most likely the finale. Fact 2) The finale itself is past the storyboarding phase. Fact 3) From what we can tell from Twitter, they've been in Key Layout for several months now, which is something they do about 6 months before an episode premieres. Fact 4) The entire MLP schedule was turned on its head, and S5 premiered last April. This is most likely in anticipation of the movie. There's no reason to think S6 wouldn't start in April as well. Fact 5) LPS ends April 16th, if they don't take any breaks Fact 6) if S6 follows the same structure as S5, the finale would be late fall 2016 Therefore, I'm going to say the Season 6 premiere is April 23rd 2016. It's the week after the LPS series finale, which they'd undoubtedly use to promote the coming season of MLP.- 296 replies

I saw EQG 1 in theaters, it was half bronies, half kids and family. I then saw Rainbow Rocks in theaters the next year. Probably a couple dozen kids and their parents....and me. I still didn't get any shade cast at me. Everything went well. As for the FiM movie, this is the conversation I had with myself: Me: Are we going to the movie? Myself: It's a movie for little girls, and everyone who works there is gonna be expecting a cringey parade of nerds Me: So don't act like a cringey nerd? Myself: But they'll be judging you! Me: Who? The teenager selling tickets who makes 3x less an hour than you do? Myself: mebbe.... Me: If you're really afraid of someone half your age, order your ticket online from Fandango. The guy who checks the tickets isn't even going to be looking at what movie you're there to see. He'll only be looking at the theater number, to give you directions. Myself: I guess I can do that.... Me: Are you gonna wear a pony T-Shirt? Myself: ya, if I want to be a walking pile of spaghetti Me: It'd look worse if you dressed up. just wear a subtle pony t shirt if, again, you're afraid of some teenagers half your age, who make 3x less than you. Myself: screw you, man Me: By acting guilty, by acting like you have something to hide, you make it seem more and more like you're doing something wrong. Myself: you are wise, and handsome Me; I know, dude, I know.
