  1. I don't know what to think of this episode. Everything was phenomenal except Discord's idiotic betrayal, and that fight between Twi and Tirek. Firstly, it seems like the writers aren't of one mind in how they want to handle Discord. In one scene you've got Discord showing godlike wisdom and guidance by all but saying Twilight can unlock the chest by reading the Journal. Then in another scene you've got Discord falling into a transparent deception that anyone who possessed the godlike wisdom we saw in part 1 should never have fallen for. I wish they'd have had Discord be the one who was playing Tirek for a fool, not the other way around. He's either Q in Draconequues form, or he's a dopey jester, pick one because I don't like how it's working for him to be both. Then there's that fight. This fight bugs the heck out of me. I signed up for adorable, endearing characters, and intelligent, witty, meaningful, heartwarming stories, and where any fighting is supposed to be inline with those qualities either ironically or in a limited capacity. What I didn't sign up for was an Avatar: TLA style big boss battle where Twilight's intentions were those of anger and retribution. Maybe I'm just really missing something here, but that fight didn't seem compatible with the show thus far. This show has never had a problem in the past with skipping fighting to go straight to the rainbow laser of death and friendship. On the plus side were the 1st part, and that fantastic song at the end. Cut out Discord in part 2, and that fight, and you've got a perfect 10.
  2. While I liked EQG and think EQG2 will probably be even better, I'm struck by some things I find to be odd. In the first movie we have the song lyric, "but you look a little deeper, and you will see that I'm just like you, and you're just like me". Isn't that the exact opposite of what the message should be? I thought the message was supposed to be that they're all different, and regardless of those differences they can still find camaraderie? There's no point in pretending that we're in any way the same, even on the deepest level, so I don't really understand the point of that line. Then in the EQG2 preview we have a song about how the mane 6 were somehow divided in the past because of their differences, but now have come together. While this might be true on a broader sense if the song is truly about all students at CHS, it certainly isn't true about the mane 6 themselves. They got along just fine until Sunset briefly divided them. It seems like they've never had an issue with getting along, despite any personality differences, and any division was based on manufactured conflict. Lastly, I'm also not sure, outside an out of universe explanation which is the writer's intentions to integrate Sunset into this new universe, why Sunset didn't return to Equestria. I hope she gets to at least visit at some point in EQG2. A reunion between Sunset and Celestia would be by far my favorite scene. Actually, there's one more thing.....someone needs to remind Flash that Twilight is a horsey.
  3. Got tickets for the opening show on Sept 27th, then after that moving into the house I bought.
  4. It's been a bit of an interesting week, as far as figuring out the production schedule for S4 goes. Based on some tweets, and a fake leak which turned out to be potentially useful, I was able to construct a fairly accurate time table for when episode went to storyboarding. If any of what I came up with is true, it means that there's a two parter mid season, and that they begin boarding of two parters on the same day. Also, a few days ago I told some people on ponychan to pay attention to twitter today, and look for an indication that they would be recording the finale, and lo and behold we have Rebecca Shoichet in studio. So, a full year out from the episode airing, we can fairly confidently state that the S4 finale is written by Meghan McCarthy, and as we all should have guessed, includes Twilight in one of its songs. A month ago I posted a wall of text here indicating roughly when I thought some episodes would happen. Well because of subsequent tweets which gave me for info, I think I've narrowed them down exactly. The Discord episode should be 407, and the CMC episode with Sweetie Belle's big song should be 419. Finally, AKR looks to have written 424, based on her tweeting about writing for pony at the same time Meghan tweeted about writing a song, and Ian Corlett's episode, POSSIBLY with the Flim Flam Bros. is 420.
  5. I'm starting to question if Sam and Scott were in studio for MLP. It could have been for something else. The timing seems a bit off, and theres a tweet which contradicts the idea that they were there for MLP. It's all so early, and based on such flimsy circumstantial evidence, that I could very easily have been wrong.
  6. My only purpose in the fandom is to analyze information. Last season I correctly guessed that 303 would be a Pinkie episode, and I was off by 2 episodes for Discord's appearence. If I had known they would be willing to throw him in a random middle of the season episode, I might have nailed it.
  7. well, heck, as long as I'm visiting the site, I might as well add what I've gathered, relating to potential S4 info and spoilers. We know through insider sources that there was a contract dispute and eventual negotiation which was resolved in early January. This was rumored to force DHX to send some of the early scripts into the storyboarding phase BEFORE they were recorded in studio. It could have just been one script for all we know, but the rumor is still out there. The contract dispute was over the VA's ability to attend conventions which were strictly related to MLP. Hasbro was sick of spending the time and cash to look into the con staffers, and ensure the convention represented the brand well. In Dec-early Jan, Unicon had only 4 guests, but that list exploded in mid Jan, which seemed to be a clear indication that the negotiations to continue to allow VAs to attend the cons were successful, and the new contracts were signed. At Unicon, I actually asked Andrea about this at the celebrity dinner. Her hilarious response was "we aren't stupid". The VAs love going to these cons, it's basically a paid vacation for them, and they get reated like a celebrity for 3 days at a time. So based on this, we can establish within a few weeks when they started voice recording. On Jan 16th, Sibsy tweeted that she was starting work on her next job, which was MLP. On April 6th she revealed that up to that point she had boarded 402, 408, and 415, and that MLP boarders get 6 weeks to board episodes. So now we know that boarding started the 2nd week of Jan, perhaps maybe a week or so before voice recording, if the rumor about the boarding starting before the voice work is true. Given all that above, we can now track approximately who will show up in what episode, based on when they tweet, or mention being in studio. At Unicon, John De Lancie (Discord) said he recorded lines for MLP "a few days ago". Well that would place his episode somewhere around 406-408. A couple weeks ago, Ian Corlett said that Claire was singing for Sweetie Belle now. A few days later he tweeted to Brian Drummond that today was Claire's "big show". We also know Brian Drummond was in studio that day along with Maddy Peters (Scootaloo), Michelle Creber (AB), Claire (Sweetie Belle), Ashleigh (AJ/RD), Andrea (PP/FS), Tabitha (Rarity), and one other unidentified person, most likely Cathy Weseluck. The time period for that episode would place it somewhere around 417-421. My personal speculation is Sweetie had a song in that episode, and since it's coming towards the end of S4, maybe she or they will get their cutie marks? Last week Ian Corlett hashtagged the bronies and said he was in studio with Sam Vincent and Scott McNeil, and that they'd done a song, though it's interesting to note that the song Scott recorded with Ian was "metel-esque". A metal Flim Flam song? Sam and Scott played the Flim Flam Bros, but we can't say for certain ithey're reprising their roles here, even though Michelle, Peter New, and Tabitha were also in studio. Andrea also mentioned what a great time she had at work. This falls between 418-422. Personal speculation again points to a Flim Flam episode, though the genre of song is a bit off for their characters.
  8. It's campy, and fun, and Fluttershy is the most adorable culprit ever. it was like the mane 6 were putting on a "who dun it" play, as sort of a sequel to the HWE play.
  9. MMMystery on the Friendship Express MMDW had many great moments, so despite its poor writing, I do still like that episode. LBYS is a huge guilty pleasure of mine. I love that episode. Its girliness burns at the core of my masculinity, and it feels gooooooooooood.
  10. Ya, somebody has to play that role. Rarity always bottles up her anger, Twilight and Fluttershy require a great deal before they finally lose it, Pinkie Pie is incapable, and AJ has always played the "normal one" so her tolerance isn't too short or too long.
  11. I sure like it so far. I might have to make this and Ponygoons my new home.
  12. I think she's protective of her. She didn't want Fluttershy to go up the mountain. and she didn't particularly force the issue of her joining the other pegasai for the hurricane. Dash knows Fluttershy's limits, and doesn't push on them too hard.
  13. I have a few ideas. 1) I want to see an AJ episode where her and the Apple family have to escort a cart of apples to Manehatten. It would be great to see AJ carry an episode all by herself, with needing her friends as a crutch. That would be a dream episode. 2) I think I'd also like to see a day in the life of Celestia and Luna. 3) Along the lines of 3, i want to see the battle between Celestia, Luna, and Discord, where the mane 6 actually aid Celestia and Luna surreptitiously, Back To The Future 2 style. This ofc ourse would follow up with Luna being corrupted by Discord. I think it'd be awesome if Luna held the elements of Honesty, Loyalty, and Kindness, since those are the 3 elements that would have to be corrupted for her to become NMM. 4) I'd love to see an episode where the mane 6 are hauled into pony court, just like Seinfeld is in his finale. One by one past villains and background ponies take the stand, detailing horror stories of their interactions with the mane 6. 5) Along the same concept as 4, it would be funny to see an episode where Ponyville's background ponies keep getting screwed over by the mane 6, and left to clean up the mess caused by their antics. Everything from Fluttershy's animal herding, to rainbow's daredevil stunts, to Twilight's experiments. They all leave the background ponies with the short end of the stick. The episode would climax with the mane 6 becoming better neighbors.
  14. Hi, thanks for the welcome. I appreciate MLP communities that are largely positive about the show, instead of exasperatingly critical and negative.
  15. Rainbow holds herself to certain standards, and revels in her accomplishments, and agonizes over her failures. With that, she also has a clear perspective on what her priorities should be, and her element of loyalty usually ensures that those priorities don't put any of her friends in danger. Of course not all writers actually write the characters exactly the same, so there will be times where there are contradictions, but that's to be expected, and people like Thiessen, McCarthy, and Wootton help add to the consistency.
  16. if Celestia is a tyrant, she'd amount to a soft tyrant, which at times has been described as being worse than a hard tyrant, because a soft tyrant believes their actions to be in the interest of its victims. I don't believe she is a tyrant, but it'd be interesting to see how she asserts her authority as princess.
  17. To me, Rainbow Dash comes off as more fragile, caring, deeper, and beautiful than she's portrayed in the show. I would love to get to know the real Rainbow Dash.
  18. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Rainbow Dash How did you find MLP Forums?: yahoo How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I'll just copy paste this from another forum. I'd always seen the pony threads on /b/, but thought some artist just really liked to draw pictures of ponies. I had no idea about FiM's existence. I thought it was kinda funny that some people would troll /b/ with cute pictures, amid all the gore and porn. Then one night I was on Facebook posting an article I had read about the US killing a terrorist, and I went to Youtube to find a picture of someone crying, to ironically post it along with the article. I found Crylight Sparkle, and recognized it from /b/. I posted the article, and watched a few more of the crying pony videos. At that point I had to find out just what in the heck was going on here, and I made my way over to the KYM article about the show. From there I watched the first few minutes of Ponies: The Anthology. Thinking back I remember watching the opening clip from the Anthology and thinking, "well I guess there's 2 of the purple one". At that point in my life, I had recently watched Fullmetal Alchemist, Gurren Lagann, Soul Eater, and the 2003 reboot of Astroboy. I really appreciated those cartoons, so I figured this would be another that I watched once through, and that was it. Good lord....if only I knew what I was getting myself in to. I was up to "Over a Barrel" when I read on wikipedia about the recent S2 premiere, and how Faust had gotten John De Lancie to play Discord, and that the character was based on Q. Now, I'm a HUGE Next Generation fan, I loved Q, when I found this out I started laughing hysterically. I might have even been giggling like an idiot. I was already loving the show, but that moment when I discovered De Lancie's involvement, I knew my soul was sold to MLP:FiM. Since then I've upgraded from a crap phone to an iPhone, simply so I could have 8 bit Winter Wrap Up as my ringtone, and I moved into my own apartment, so I wouldn't have to basically hide in my room with the volume down, so nobody knew I was watching MLP. Now I watch ponies on a 47' HDTV, in the comfort of my leather recliner, and I'm loving life as much as I did when I was in the US Air Force for 6 years. I had absolutely nothing to live for from the time I got out of the military, until I discovered ponies. Now I have this. 1 year ago today I discovered MLP: FiM. This was the most wonderful year of my life. This show has warmed my heart, and given me a peace that I haven't known before.
  19. Straight from Jayson's mouth, we love the show because of what it is, not because of what it could be, so I never want to see the show change, or try to pander to the adult fans. I also wouldn't want them to try and keep outdoing themselves. The show doesn't need to get zanier and crazier with each premier and finale. Part of the charm of the show was the simplicity of season 1, and while season 2 is by far my favorite, I wouldn't want to see the show get further and further removed from its roots.
  20. If we're speculating when in November it'll be, I'd guess November 17th. An episode every week after that would put us at mid season on December 22nd, the last Saturday before Christmas. It really bugs me that we haven't been told yet, but I'm sure they have their reasons. As much as I want S3 to be here, I know the sooner it comes the sooner it'll be over, and the wait for S4 will begin. All I really have to look forward to in this world is MLP, so seeing the seasons come and go is kinda like saying goodbye to the best part of my life.
