  1. Where do we watch it? Usually there is a link of some sort to a place to view the episode? I would love to know where! Thanks everypony.
  2. I enjoyed this episode, however anyone who thought that they made half a season so that they could make the episodes all that much better was sorely mistaken. Most of the episodes in this season have been pretty good, but not stellar. The only ones that really stood out and moved me were the Scootaloo one and "Too Many Pinkie Pies"--and a lot of people hated the latter so maybe I'm crazy. But it was enjoyable seeing all the main cast interacting, and AJ kicking ass and being a hilarious damsel in distress, and Twilight's adorkableness when AJ moved something out of place in her room. I loved the Timberwolf design and animation--what episode were they in previously...? I forget. Spike was very cute and endearing--and I'm used to cartoons being internally inconsistent, so I wasn't too bothered by the Dragon Code. I wouldn't blame Merriwether Williams for the lame plotting--she didn't come up with the plot right? She just wrote the script? Can someone please explain to me why Pinkie Pie was "in character" in this episode? In which episodes has she been out of character? I think she was a bit too crazy and random here.
  3. I think you folks have some pretty skewed standards of beauty. Lauren Faust is a good looking woman in my opinion (granted I only ever see photos of her with lots of makeup). No comment on Craig but he's definitely better looking than Shrek! Edit: Thanks, that age difference looks way wider than it is! Yeek!
  4. Ummm... I think that Lauren Faust is pretty hot! And it seems that younger ladies hook up with ugly older guys all the time. I'm sure that some of them love each other! I didn't know Cadence and Shining Armor weren't good looking too...
  5. Does anyone think that Applejack has a beautiful singing voice? Ashleigh Ball is great at singing. In "Winter Wrap-Up," too, AJ and RD really stole it with their singing (in my opinion). Despite me finding the 1,2,3,4 hokey, I have listened to the song about 20 times now.
  6. Careful Party Cannon you're gonna get your ass handed to you. Bananashy I think you're overthinking it. They are dead. A little gift to the bronies (and probably the kids) who wanted to know where AJ's parents were.
  7. This is true, but I did say I was expecting too much. Not even sure what I was expecting actually. But it's true it did show her work ethic and family devotion and stuff. Loved the letter to Celestia. Also thanks, Emerald Flame, that's awesome... I thought someone had just mentioned we'd seen the shooting stars before. And Blindshot Predator... I'm dumb, what's wrong with Babs there?
  8. Maybe I was expecting too much? But I felt the episode was way too rushed and didn't have enough Applejack. There are lots of great characters in the Apple family and they kept stealing the spotlight (esp. Babs!!!) Overall it was a sweet happy episode, not as deep or as emotional as I was hoping (although I think I really thought AJ's parents would be mentioned)--seeing AJ cry made me pretty choked up though. The song was awesome, but the 1, 2, 3, 4 was a little much. Overall I don't think the episode helped to make AJ stand out particularly. Adorable fruit bats! Adorable baby AJ! And I'm going to pretend the two shooting stars at the end were AJ's parents, even if that was totally unintentional.
  9. Well, seeing as it's about her entire family, I'm sure somepony will steal it from her. Braeburn perhaps? I'm so excited; Applejack is my favourite pony!
  10. The Last Roundup is one of the funniest, most moving and best written episodes of the series. Everypony has a moment to shine (except maybe Twilight). Honestly I can`t get over how amazing the pacing and characterization is. I also love It's About Time, Sisterhooves Social, the recent Scootaloo/RD one, Party of One, Too Many Pinkie Pies, Dragonshy, and... I`m sure I`m forgetting a lot of good ones.
  11. I\d say I'm half between Applejack (commonsensical, genuine, down-to-earth, loyal) and Pinkie Pie (hyper, friendly, fear of abandonment). I have no idea how that manages to combine into a single person. Whenever I take the test I get a different result but usually I'm a pretty good mix of all the ponies. Here's me for now:
  12. That episode was great! Spoilers below. Not sure why people are waiting for Saturday but I am not one to defer gratification Awesome development for RD, although it was kind of a no-brainer--rescue your friends from certain death? Well, duh. But quitting the academy over the incident--that is a sign of loyalty. It was really cute seeing all the ponies in the hot air balloon, so eager to see RD. Awwww. My guess is that this will be RD's new job, but it won't change her level of screentime much. Speaking of screentime though, when is the last time Fluttershy talked? LOL. I kind of miss her. This episode was great for all the proponents of RD and Pinkie being closest (I was thinking "DashForever will like this" as I watched) and RD and AJ/Twilight (who kept getting all the RD hugs--Fluttershy and Rarity just stood there!). For whomever says Pinkie has mental health problems... yeah I'm pretty sure she has no object permanence, among other things.
  13. Okay, I kind of agree with you. Apparently her whole childhood can make her mane go flat! I think once is enough--I don't want any more of her episodes to centre around her being psychotically depressed and abandoned! She was just the right amount of sad in Too Many Pinkie Pies.
  14. More Pinkie? She had a whole episode and there were 100 of her! I think this season is great, but I wasn't waiting months and months for it! I prefer the slice of life episodes to the giant epic finale episodes too, and these ones have been charming!
  15. I went to the toy section of Zellers, and they had every colour of pony... every colour but... orange. So here are my Mane 5. I'm pissed that I couldn't find Applejack, but I'll just assume she's so popular she is selling off those shelves like mad (how do you do spoiler tags?) Later I wandered into another toy outlet to find my main pony AJ. They had a much bigger version of her, and I knew it would annoy me not to have a matching set, so I still have no AJ. And I promised myself I would stop there, but if I find a matching CMC I can't be held responsible for my actions. RD's hair is so crazy because I am prepping her for a haircut. I hope I don't regret it once I style it like the show, though.
  16. Since the ponies are mostly normal people I didn't think it would make sense to put their abilities into hero-level high, although it's good to know for future reference that in 3.5 the ability scores are on a different scale. Charisma was really hard; I agree that Pinkie has tons of friends and can cheer people up, but she doesn't actually seem to exert much influence. Maybe I should have given AJ and Twilight higher Charisma too, since they are both leader-types... whereas Fluttershy has no leadership ability but is incredibly charismatic with animals. Actually maybe I should have given Fluttershy higher Wisdom too. It's all so difficult!
  17. I think this is all probably true, although I think that the actual message was a hoax. Derpy has all but disappeared from Season 3; the sightings of her don't show the derped eyes so I don't believe it's her. Sorry guys, but this is how things go: it's about the bottom line. This show has been pandering to us (with Derpy's appearances in Season 2, and with a lot of the in-jokes and character bonding in Season 2 and 3). If Hasbro doesn't want to risk liability, they'll get rid of Derpy. And if they want to sell more toys, they'll make an alicorn Twilight. Heck look at that billboard; it's pretty clear that Twilight will either become an alicorn or be featured in a dream sequence, fantasy, or temporarily becoming an alicorn. She doesn't have to become a princess--that would be a pretty weird form of racism, privileging alicorns over other races. But if she does, I'm sure the show's creators will keep their zany sense of humour and focus on love and friendship. Maybe Season 4 can be about the ponies moving on and growing up, but keeping their friendships (as much as that would suck). The show has to move in some direction and I think the characters can only develop so much, and there are only so many friendship lessons that can be made. I don't think the show will last after Season 4 because there's only so many things that can be done with it. We all will have great memories and a great community though. Heck maybe they're even making a movie and that's why this season is shorter.
  18. This is a cool topic! I haven't played D&D for a while so please forgive me if I'm speaking from an outdated version. I wonder what everypony's ability scores would be? If I recall, there was Strength, Constitution (which was health and fortitude), Dexterity (agility), Wisdom (intuition, judgment and willpower), Intelligence, and Charisma (persuasiveness, charm, leadership abilities). 8-10 would be an average score for a human for all ability scores. How would you guys rate the team? I'd say: Twilight Sparkle: Strength 8, Constitution 8, Dexterity 10, Wisdom 14, Intelligence 18, Charisma 11 Applejack: Strength 13, Constitution 13, Dexterity 9, Wisdom 16, Intelligence 13, Charisma 12 Rarity: Strength 9, Constitution 9, Dexterity 10, Wisdom 12, Intelligence 16, Charisma 16 Fluttershy: Strength 7, Constitution 8, Dexterity 11, Wisdom 11, Intelligence 12, Charisma 13 Pinkie Pie: Strength 8, Constitution 9, Dexterity 12, Wisdom 15, Intelligence 10, Charisma 12 Rainbow Dash: Strength 12, Constitution 11, Dexterity 18, Wisdom 9, Intelligence 14, Charisma 15 ... I don't think they are equal at all there, oh well!
  19. I can't remember if I posted my list, so I might as well give it a shot. If I did post earlier, my opinions have likely changed a bit because up until last week I was still working my way through season 2. 1) Applejack - I really like her; I just think she's the voice of reason and can be really funny and charming. But she doesn't get developed very much so she may slip eventually. I love her deep voice too. It's funny; I was listening to an interview with Ashleigh Ball who described AJ as "vulnerable." Funny; I wouldn't consider her as vulnerable as Pinkie, Twilight, RD or Fluttershy, really. 2) Pinkie Pie - I just love Pinkie. She's such a sweetheart but has serious problems when she's alone or feels abandoned. I think I like her because I'm kind of like this too. I hate being so unstable and I don't think it fits how people perceive me (I am overjoyed when I'm with people, severely depressed when I'm alone). Anyway, Pinkie is also really cute and funny. 3) Twilight Sparkle - Being the main character, Twilight can sometimes slip into blandness because main characters are often neutral so you can project your features onto them and identify with them. But she can be so funny and OCD and cute, I gotta love her. 4) Rarity - And she may climb the list. She's growing on me. 5) Rainbow Dash - I really can't stand arrogance, but sometimes Rainbow is really cute and charming so I love her still! No worried RD fans. 6) Fluttershy - I still really like Fluttershy, but she's a bit bland to me. I've definitely had my periods of being a bit of a doormat, plus I love animals, so I'm surprised I don't identify with her more. She's adorable, but actually I think she's had relatively little screentime. Also I can't decide what to make of her character assassination of Pinkie and Rarity in "Putting Your Hoof Down." On the one hand, it was kind of true--Pinkie and Rarity are extremely frivolous. On the other hand, if this is what she really thinks of them, don't you think Fluttershy would have to put in serious effort to prove to them that she didn't think that anymore? I mean it's hard to be friends with someone who hates the things that you hold dearest in life. That was a badass scene though. Okay so I went off-topic, but there's my list! And my overall list would probably be: 1) Applejack 2) Pinkie Pie 3) Twilight 4) Sweetie Belle 5) Rarity 6) Spike 7) Rainbow Dash 8) Apple Bloom 9) Fluttershy 10) Scootaloo. Although I feel bad about that because I do actually still really like Fluttershy and Scootaloo! Jeez I seem to have something against pegasi from this list.
  20. Looking back at the forum thread when the Mare Do Well episode aired, it seemed like everyone liked it then. I guess it just didn't withstand the test of time very well? RD did act a little off, but I actually kind of liked the episode, especially the ending.
  21. I agree that Shining Armor's existence does not contradict Twilight's characterization as an asocial pony. However, Twilight has been raising Spike since childhood and he has been her best friend for years. How can she be asocial when she has had him as a best friend for so long? It sort of is a slap in the face to Spike to say Twilight only discovered friendship when she got to Ponyville.
  22. Aww that episode was a wagonload of charming! Scootaloo has never done much for me, but she was pretty cute in this episode. I like what an earlier poster had to say, about RD being sort of oblivious and bad at reading feelings, but if somepony comes out and tells her how they feel, she can become pretty supportive (even if she still doesn't understand why they would feel that way, since she has rarely acknowledged her own insecurities)! RD's decision to take Scootaloo under her wing is... a pretty substantial decision for a pony who doesn't tend to want to get tied down to much. (Although I suppose her element is loyalty...) Anyway, go RD, very caring of you! I wonder if RD and Scoots are both orphans...? They are very similar, in my mind. Partly because if I ran into either of them I would probably think they were boys. This episode had a nice combination of characters, although it was weird not to have Twilight show up at all. I like when she is in every episode, just to "glue" things together. But it was really cool to see the three "big sisters" and their little siblings out camping together. Applejack shows her caring nature and her badass camping skills simultaneously, and Sweetie Belle remains absolutely adorable, pulling along Rarity's luggage with a smile on her face, so happy to be spending time with her sister that she doesn't care if she is taken advantage of. Too bad RD and Rarity still didn't interact very much, as we don't really get to see much of that. Does anyone think the order of episodes this season seems a bit careless? We have two RD-heavy episodes in a row, and later we will have two AJ-heavy ones in a row.
  23. Guys, how can you tell that's Derpy? You can't see the derped eyes. I've seen tons of background ponies that look like Derpy and don't trust that they are, indeed Derpy until I see the derped eyes.
  24. Jeez louise, how did I forget "A Friend In Deed" though? That may be the best Pinkie episode, I mean it has "Smile Smile Smile" in it! I was absolutely floored when I first heard that song. Although I'm not sure it's the best lesson... if someone doesn't want to be your friend, keep forcing it until they give in? Still, it was lovely, seeing how much Pinkie wants her buddies to be happy.
  25. Applejack is my favourite too, so any time she is focused on is a sweet time for me. That said, I didn't think the sleepover episode with her, Rarity and Twilight (I forget the names of a lot of the episodes). I think "The Last Roundup" was her best episode because it just showed her stubbornness, her independence and determination, but also her major vulnerabilities. However it had a bit of a flaw in it: although AJ was working hard to send money back to the town, she was leaving her family SOL in terms of running their farm, so that was a bit problematic. Pinkie Pie: Swarm of the Century was pretty cool, but I guess she was more of a background pony for much of it. I totally loved her focused badass facial expression while looking ridiculous playing a harmonica, accordion, tuba and banjo. I really liked "Party of One" and "Too Many Pinkie Pies" since both showed that Pinkie's love of, and need for, her friends is also her weakness. She is so cute. Dude I just love Pinkie Pie. Fluttershy: "Hurricane Fluttershy" probably--although I guess she wasn't super kind in it. "Putting Your Hoof Down" didn't really showcase Fluttershy's personality since she was being a jerk. Jeez, do any of Fluttershy's episodes have her being the shy sweetie we know and love? Rarity: The one where she makes all the dresses. It shows her generosity for a change. Will get back to you on the others; I kind of need to review them first.
