  1. All bets are off to me. I personally don't like the idea of Twilicorn, not to mention this concept of "ascension" where a pony can become a princess. This concept makes me cringe, and it gives Hasbro WAY-TOO-MUCH power to turn whatever pony they want into a princess. Also, concerning Twilight's ascension and the believability of the ascension of Cadence, Fluttershy should have ascended as well since she reformed Discord, to a certain extent. The way they describe becoming a princess makes it sound like some great act causes them to ascend, which is kind what Fluttershy did to be honest. She helped reform the Celestia dang god of chaos. Again, personally speaking, I think all notions are off at this point. They could suddenly make the rest of the mane6 alicorns for the heck of it. Though McCarthy's comment was probably in jest, i'm quite leary of her little comment about their being 53 alicorns. Wouldn't surprise me if Hasbro demanded more Princesses and they have some event which turns every single mare/filly/female foal in Equestria into an alicorn. Hasbro can have as many princesses as they want, and the writers fulfill a quota. I apologize in advance if my statement is rather antagonistic/spiteful, but I really do care about MLPFIM. To see this show, maintaining a beautiful balance between product placement and kid+parent entertainment, degraded into just a simple show to push products is demeaning imho.
  2. I have to say "maybe" because it goes into the stereotypical ideals when dealing with little girls. What do you buy a little girl for presents? Answer several people think about: Dolls and a kitchen set/play set. Others will say, "I'll ask the little girl what she wants. Or i'll see what she is 'into' right now." Really hoped for something more unique with S3E13 with a "destiny/fate" alteration because of the cutie mark swapping spell. It would have been interesting to have Twilight morph into an alicorn because her cutie mark was swapped around with Cadence, Luna or Celestia's. Instead, imho, it felt cheap. I'll just come out and say that the whole episode felt cheap, and nothing more than one gigantic quota that DHX had to meet for Hasbro. Still hope S4E1 can turn things around and give some weight behind the studious pony, now turned alicorn/princess. While DHX is full of very talented people, that talent can't do anything if its now being supressed, further and further, to meet quotas of product placement. Personally, i'm expecting S4E1 to open up with Twilight happily living in a room in Canterlot Castle, surrounded by library books, and still humming, everything is going to be fine, before she flies out into the sky. (Still hope it's all a ploy and the pony is still in the Crystal Empire at the door. Want it to turn out that Sombra wanted Twilight's power and purposefully had her morph into an alicorn/princess and he was playing dumb/stupid this whole time as the unicorn is a very tactile schemer.)
  3. Think it depends upon when OC of mine it is since I have so many. If it's Scarlet, and if this thread is for females only, then I would take her in since she's kind. The pony is a little inquisitive as a pegasus, and I would need to keep her grounded a bit so she doesn't fly off while investigating flowers. If it's any OC I have, beyond being female, I would have to be cautious since Darkstride is rather devious as a stallion, but he's somewhat kindhearted as a colt. He just grew into a malefic, devious little schemer because of problems that cropped up down the road.
  4. With the comment from a Hasbro executive saying the MLP franchise is their top priority right now, due to Friendship is Magic, i'm gonna say that they'll probably wait till Season 5, or potentially Season 6. I truly, TRULY want to see a 3 part continuation episode segment for them. First one would be for Sweetie Belle where she realizes her cutiemark with Rarity. The Two sisters bond over the little one earning her mark, and this leaves Scootaloo and Applebloom to wonder about theirs. During the second episode, I would have it be Scootaloo attempting a dangerous stunt to get more attention by Rainbow Dash. It leads to an even more bonding experience as the hopeful filly flier learns to let go, understanding that she may never have the potential to fly. This doesn't mean that she is worthless, and learns even more advanced tricks on her scooter as Rainbow dash flies beside her during different events, when RD isn't on-duty as a Wonderbolt/Wonderboltess. It's the third and final episode of the three parter where Applebloom would earn her cutie mark. Things would revert to where she feels isolated for being a blank flank. Definitely want this one to be a bonding experience for Applebloom and the rest of the community where she comes to terms with who she is, her talents, and understanding that she isn't alone. Not to mention that earning her cutie mark doesn't mean the end of the crusaders since the goal can exist as the 3 girls become senior members and use their talents to help out those that are having difficult learning their own special traits. Might even have Applebloom go through a dream sequence with Luna looking on as the filly earns a cutie mark she would not want to get, maybe something to deal with garbage, breaking bread sticks, etc....
  5. ...Or like a pony suddenly gaining wings when she original had none, and understanding how to use them right off the bat. Speaking seriously, with so much mystery surrounding Dragons, even to the point that Twilight said herself in S2 there is little known about them, I wouldn't be surprised if dragons did reach an age where they go through a a metamorphosis. While this did happen with Secret to my Excess, to a certain degree, I think it may have been a rapid growth spurt that was brought about by the little assistant's unnatural upbringing as he was with ponies vs being brought up with greedy dragons. What may happen is Spike achieving a more naturalized life cycle where he might go through minor growth spurts throughout his extended life cycle. Still have no idea of the life cycle of dragons; those teenage dragons we saw during Dragon Quest could have been 100 to 200 years old, hatching around the time when Granny Smith first came to the area where Ponyville was founded.
  6. Who can say no to the happy little pony with the blissful attitude towards things? Gotta love derpy for who she is and that's what is really important.
  7. Not trying to be mean, but i'm just saying what i've seen as Hasbro has decreed it since it is "their" show and DHX has a little artistic freedom. Probably why I don't like Alicorn Twilight since there could have been a decent lesson about her advancing on the inside, while the studious unicorn stayed the same on the outside as Celestia bestows the title of Princess to her and the title is just honorary. Part of me already foresees a Hasbro executive's attempt to meddle more with the show, though it's their show and they tailor it to their order like a person ordering a sandwich at subway, by saying Equestrian History decreed that after Princess Platinum that no pony would be refered to as princess unless they were alicorns. Or, if Princess Celestia turns out to be Princess Platinum, that all alicorns are princesses because they are special and are fit to be rulers because they represent all three tribes into one unified being, etc.... Now, I won't say it's 100% impossible for an alicorn colt to be born/shown in the show. Though what I will say is that I find it extremely unlikely to the point that it won't happen. Comic books, paperback books, and the like will be considered non-canon lore wise and will be simply created to sell that form, unless stated otherwise by the show's crew.
  8. Sadly, I have to be rude here and say that will never, ever, ever, ever, EVER happen. From what i've seen, and what i'm getting, all alicorns are princesses because alicorns are special, emodying all 3 races into one being, and that gives a subconcious connotation to the original market demographic of the show by saying "all little girls are special and princesses." That's the primary selling point for the princess toys from what i've seen, and Hasbro does it. Only princess that hasn't been shown as an alicorn is Princess Platinum. Personally, I have a very, very strange sense that Platinum is Princess Celestia. She changed her name to better reflect her new status and duty as ruler of Equestria. The reason this hasn't been divulged is that it was either forgotten, or potentially struck from the history books. I'm highly doubtful that you will ever see a colt alicorn, and if that does happen it maybe a rare event or something. That one book in German, or whatever it was, with the new baby pony being born that looks like a colt alicorn has a high probability of being non-canon to the MLPFIM universe.
  9. What drew me into MLPFIM was the interesting story, character designs, music, ways each episode came together, and other various nuances. 1. Premise: Said it before, i'll say it again. The Equestria Girl premise reeks of some all pixie stick, mountain dew filled sugar rush by two executives who pulled a feverish all nighter at the Hasbro corporate office to come up with the next "big thing." I'm already despising the idea of: 2. Designs: I am not fond of the designs, even the concepts. What further disgusted me was the idea for Spike which made the movie even worse as it gave the overall connotation of being a Sabrina The Teenage Witch rip-off. 3. Similarities to what's out there: I like innovation, which is why I liked MLPFIM. Though it was based on an existing product, the new series, Friendship is Magic, brought an interesting twist to what is out in animation land right now. The only upsides I see to this movie are DHX being behind it and Daniel Ingram + his talented musical people being behind it. If we get something like Sailor Moon, i'll be somewhat tempted to look at it. To be both blunt and quite brutal, I hope this thing bombs hard as it seems like a horrible, horrible knock off of that Monster High School show as Hasbro tries to capitalize on the teenage girl crowd. Despite the phrase being "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," I do believe this movie could have been ripe for innovation. Guess they decided a teenage HS in Equestria with mares growing up was too "girly" for the teenage crowd.
  10. Normally, I would say it isn't. When you are dealing with a children's show however, that's when it can become rather problematic. The most they can get away with is showing a foal in a bundle like they did with pound and pumpkin cake. They might show a tired Cadence underneath covers as a nurse walks away with Shining Armor by her side as they proudly show off their new daughter. Still, i'm not hoping for Skyla as it just interjects another alicorn/princess into the mix, and if Princess Skyla is/isn't born an alicorn, it might just create further problems.
  11. Have to agree since pregnancy might be a touchy subject. Also, I do agree that if there is a kid they'll do something like they did with the cake twins being shown in the Hospital. In all honesty, I don't want Princess Skyla to come into the picture. We have enough alicorns in the show, but I wouldn't be surprised if Skyla was introduced with some big release as Hasbro showcases more toys behind her.
  12. I think the video is a joke and the guy is just looking WAY-TOO-DEEPLY into things. Personally, when I wake up in the morning, my mind is a little erratic and makes connections in things when there is clearly none to be had. Think the weirdest "conspiracy theory" i've thought about is Celestia and Luna being like Queen mabs from that Merlin Movie where they need worshipers/believers to stay in existence and the more they have the more powerful they are. With Celestia poised as the "ruler of Equestria" and ponies believing in her, she is the most powerful being there is right now, next to Discord, but the ruler does have the ability to cast magic that is close to being on-par with the chaos god's power. If the ponies stop believing in Celestia and her power, she will cease to exist.
  13. Nice job on Eternal Flame, really like the look/expression as she's looking down towards the lower panel of the piece. Can't wait to see more of your stuff, OP.
  14. Sadly, from what I understand, Hamill retired the joker voice as he felt a certain plateau had been reached. There's a video of him discussing his thoughts, feelings, and ideas about it. For me, personally, I want Crispin Freeman to voice a bookstore owner who delvs into the deeper mysteries of Equestria, like the Curator pony at the beginning of Magic Duel. Have it set some particularly nasty stuff in motion that the Mane6 has to fix, or have it be a CMC things. Could do something pretty cool like a Never Ending Story deal where the CMCs read a book and discover a world inside of it that they have to save with the other ponies wondering where they were... sorry, fan fiction mode there.
  15. Indeed. Not to mention that if things progress to the point where that friend doesn't acknowledge the accomplishments of others that got them to where they are, either due to greed and lust of oneself or because they want to but can't because others won't listen, it will create that void/gap.
  16. I don't think I could have said it any better myself. Personally, I 100% do not like her as an alicorn, and feel it shouldn't have happened in the first place. With that said however, people who "reasonably state" Twilight ascending to the role of a princess doesn't harm who she is until proven otherwise. What really set people like me off is the little scene in the episode before MMC where Cadence is "coaching" Twilight in how to remain calm. The little exercise has quite the regal overtone, and does give plausible belief towards the idea of Twilight changing from the adorkable unicorn we came to love, into a regal princess pony like her mentor Celestia. With Season 4, I can definitely see an episode where Twilight worries about her friends growing resentful/concerned of her status as a princess. I could definitely see ponies looking at those stained glass windows in the Canterlot Throne Room and saying "ooooo, it's princess Twilight," with a little colt/filly commenting "who are those ponies around her?" to which the mother/father replies "they're her attendants/assistants," which starts things off as Twilight feels her new role degrades her friends. This would grow as the episode progresses, where more ponies are "bugging" Twilight with royal duties and interrupting precious time with her friends. It could culminate into the end where the adorkable pony makes the call if she wants to be a princess or not. You could even have the episode elaborate on the history of alicorns/princess where there are some that ascend to that state and refuse the power. Their choices vary, but some refuse the power because they feel it is too cumbersome and remain their normal race. I'll be PO'd if Hasbro abuses that opportunity to sell more pretty, pretty princess crap, yet I can see the writers properly utilizing it to say that Celestia acts as a guide to ponies that can ascend to alicorn status, and Luna used to accompany her but can't anymore or chooses not to do it, feeling it robs ponies of their lives. Could even say that Chrysalis was a princess and she became corrupted with the lust and admiration of her subjects to the point they all became condemned. The reason Celestia and Luna don't know about Chrysalis is that the princess Chrysalis used to be dropped off the map and was never found.
  17. Nice work. Wouldn't mind seeing another person's idea/rendition of the Eternal Flame character I made for that Artist Training ground last year. Made her based off the idea of Philomena being a pony phoenix Hybrid.
  18. Yup, they took a little hiatus, but are back on track to release the movie in 2014. It will be a sad, sad, sad day for us all when they release mutant turtles from outerspace instead of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Let us pray to the MLPFIM gods that Bay nor Hollywood can lay their dirty little fingers on the franchise... though Equestria Girls looks about as bad as it can get.
  19. With the person that mentioned The Avengers, they maybe thinking of the 1998 film about the british group, instead of the 2012 movie with the marvel team up. Wiki Link That avengers, the one with freaking sean connery in a giant teddy bear suit I kid you not! , was definitely garbage.
  20. I have to go with the original one. It's more fanciful in ideas/delights vs the newer one. Not to mention the original movie used real little people vs the new movie using those digital version, from what I was told. Also, I have to agree that Gene Wilder's portrayal of Willy Wonka is just so unique, like Jack Nicholson playing The Joker in Tim Burton's Batman movie, Mark Hamil voicing the joker in BTAS, or Sigourney Weaver playing Ripley in the Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3 films. Nothing against Johnny Depp, but he is just the Michael Jackson of the Willy Wonka world imho.
  21. I would say Prometheus because of how it was done, but the movie wasn't "that" bad enough to say it was the absolute WORST movie i've seen. Maybe the third Resident Evil movie makes me say "that was bad." Seen a heck of a lot of movies, but I just can't think of one that truly garnered my unending disdain.
  22. Take a look: I just hope to Celestia that Skyla isn't freaking real. (Also, FYI, I think the Twila thing is a complete rumor that will never come to pass. If they have Twilight Marrying Blue Blood, that is it fillies, game over. GAME! OVER!)
  23. Think Lauren Faust had left the show and said that design was implemented, and her theory was about Luna "recovering" which is why her designed changed when we saw her in Luna Eclipsed. I like the idea myself. It adds more depth to why she was absent for so long between those episodes, vs. the "O, she's a pony of the night and keeps to herself. She is a recluse type character."
  24. I've liked a good portion of the spike episodes, but Spike at your Service, the S3 episode and his pet episode, were probably the worst imho. It was Spike's clumsy servitude to Applejack is what put me off the most. He faithfully helps out Twilight around the library, meaning he has a level of competency in his job. To this day, I still swear the episode should have been about AJ being honest with herself. Spike should have been so extremely helpful, the hardworking cowpony would think about keeping the purple dragon as her faithful #1 assistant around the farm. Applejack would go to Twilight, after swallowing her will to keep spike, and begrudingly tell the studious unicorn about her thoughts of keeping him, not to mention how she knows it is wrong yet decideds to be truthful to Twilight, herself, and spike. Instead, we got some clumsy little guy who seemed like he barely knew how to string two words together to let him communicate with others, let alone accomplish the single task. Another thing is if he was so incompetent on how to make a pie, how would he be able to bake a freaking jewel cake for himself in the other episode? (If he hadn't have eaten the jewels in the first place)
  25. Trying to decide on something, but if you want to give it a whirl you can draw my Scarlet H. OC/Character. Based her design off the Fleur De Lis character from the episode with Fancy Pants.
