  1. The Flim Flam songs. The song where Rainbow Dash goes on a magical adventure to bring home a yellow-striped bat. The wedding song that Cadence sings in tandem with a giant lump of Swiss cheese. If there's anything they have in common, it's probably that you like them. I'm pretty sure not all of these songs should technically be termed as duets (heck, one of them's even dubbed as an Aria in the title), but eh, inverted commas have gotta have some use, right? Ingram has of course crapped some pretty sweet melodies out of his musical hole to go with the vocals, but lyrically, songs with two primary vocalists -- whether they're singing in jolly agreement (The Flim Flam Brothers and to some extent Find a Pet) or in contention with one another (Bats! and This Day Aria) -- never seem to go astray. Personally I think it's related to how the characters' thoughts can complement each other so powerfully and intensely with the right lyrics, particularly when the singers are busy taking a dump on each other's points of view. And no disrespect to the brilliant solo/crowd songs, of course (Smile Song, Art of the Dress, etc.). Except the Failure/Success song. The Failure/Success song can go choke on Spike's own terrible singing. This is obviously based on general fandom consensus; not everyone's gonna like all the duet songs, but for the most part they're very well-liked. Any thoughts?

  6. @@Scootadress, thanks for the encouragement! The recently concluded Turnabout Storm was very good, and we're hoping to create something even better with Trio! As for what it's about... Well, we can't be giving too much away just yet. You can find a very basic summary of the case in my original post, and besides, watching events unfold as for the first time should be much more engaging than reading about them beforehand. Current projections put the release of Part 1 at around Christmas. Hopefully you and everyone else will find it worth the wait!
  7. Well, @, this casting call is closing soon, but we're still lacking suitable VAs for Twilight and Spike. If you'd like to audition for one or both of those two, then that'd be brilliant. Of course, feel free to audition for as many others of the others as you like too while we're still taking auditions. As I said, there's only a few days left for before we close all auditions apart from those concerning Twilight and Spike, so try and get them in soon if you want to try out for any of the others!
  8. I did a few takes of Discord's lines from the show, added an echo effect where necessary and thwacked them into the audio file here: Discord.aiff As I explain in that same file, however, privacy is a wonderful, wonderful thing! rare grace where I live, so I had to do several lines in one take; normally I'd split them and attempt them separately. I also couldn't find time to perform those couple of original lines you listed. My apologies. Still, there it is. Enjoy! Or not. It's probably terrible.
  9. @, thanks for the offer! I'm pretty sure we've got every base covered, but I'll definitely get in touch if we're having any technical problems and/or the workload on that front becomes too great. I've got a to-do list longer than Discord's body at the moment, but it's nothing the team and I can't handle. Still, thanks again!
  10. My version of Y actually arrived a few days early in the post. Must have been a mix up with the supplier or something, but I'm not complaining; I've had the game for 3 days now! Anyhow... 11. @@TheFoolArcana515, as I mentioned in the info part, there isn't a total wall of a deadline for this. We'd prefer everyone to have auditioned within about a week or so, but until the actual results have been posted, all auditions are welcome.
  12. THIS CASTING CALL IS NOW CLOSED. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT AUDITIONS. But feel free to check out the project itself, of course. Any and all support shown is very much appreciated! Good day to y'all! Turnabout Trio is a MLP/Phoenix Wright crossover project that I am directing. It's already heavily in development; in fact, we just need some voice actors and we'll be firing on all cylinders. To avoid a TL;DR situation, you can find out more if you're interested by listening to one of the files below. Turnabout Trio Information (High Quality Version).aiff Turnabout Trio Information (Weird, inexplicable-echo-effect-in-the-background Version).mp3 To see what roles are available, check out the links below. The first will take you to the MLP;FiM canon characters that need voicing; the second will launch you into a world of Pony OCs and Ace Attorney canon characters who want you speaking for them. MLP;FiM Canon Characters Pony OCs & PWAA Canon Characters To see a brief summary of the case, follow this link: Case Summary This project involves two OCs that need voice actors. Their appearances, combined with the general style of simple animation that will be applied to every character, can be seen in the nifty spoilers below. Trident Cross Cistron Symmetry I've done my best to answer potential questions, but of course, ask away if there's anything I haven't covered. Have fun and good luck!
  13. Few and far between as these moments are, I had one just yesterday. I was half-excited, since I had just got the new album from one of my favourite bands - Haken - but I managed to wind down enough to start listening to it. And then this song - the introduction - played. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBZ3gfaMQVI The rest of the album was brilliant, too, but given both my relaxed mood and the beauty of the song, nothing quite topped those first couple of minutes. The cherry on top is that this song somehow manages to lyrically embody many bronies' outlook on life, including my own...even though the guys who wrote it have probably never even heard of the show.
  14. I was lucky enough to attend B.U.C.K. just last month, and I can say without exaggeration that it was the best weekend of my life. The vast majority of bronies are truly the greatest people you could ever hope to meet. The convention was very near where I lived and money wasn't an unworkable issue, so passing up the opportunity would have been criminal. I didn't cosplay, but some of the costumes that people make are truly amazing. I may try it next year as Discord...
  15. As long as they don't decide that their next great act in life is to stealthily lower themselves right onto my face, I actually quite like the critters. Not because I think they're adorable or anything, but more of the indirect benefits they provide (like keeping genuinely creepy bugs out of the house by trapping and chowing down on them). And although they're not even in the same species group as spiders, I do despise these things: Damn these Daddy Long Legs (or Crane Flies, to those of you chilling in America). Two less legs, but twice the terror.
  16. 1) There's something strangely endearing about Flash Cannon. Not the most flexible move, I know, but at least you'll die in the knowledge of your superior style when the opponent's Draco Meteor blows your face off. 2) I'd like to be able to use Future Sight; delivering karma never felt so satisfying. Oh, and Sleep Powder, too: then after I find that non-existent elusive portal to Equestria, I can visit Twilight Sparkle and [REDACTED]. 3) A new move? How about Hurl Cosmetic Abuse, a Dark-type move that causes the opposing Pokémon to be afflicted with the new status condition of Chronically Depressed? Max HP drops, Attack power plummets and, if the Pokémon is female, every turn there is a 50% chance of it throwing a tantrum and flipping you off with whatever appendages it has at hand. ...Yeah, maybe I should put off submitting these ideas to Game Freak for a little while longer.

  18. It's not so much that we're incapable of creating engaging alicorn OCs who actually show some depth; it's more to do with how the show itself portrays a typical image of an alicorn, and how that affects our thinking. The mind-set that alicorns are wise, almost omniscient beings with very few faults to speak of is set pretty deeply within our heads, sometimes so much so that imagining an alicorn who has all the same faults and insecurities as any normal OC somehow seems fundamentally wrong. I think it's more of a subconscious issue than anything else. We know from canon that Luna at least used to suffer from crippling self-confidence issues, turning her into a villain, but it still seems odd to think of her as anything but a shining beacon that we should all aspire to follow... Especially when her character is otherwise so buckin' loveable. Alicorn OCs aren't inherently bad ideas, but you need to be careful how you portray them if they're not to become the victim of this sort of reaction:

  20. There are a ton of online resources out there. http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/ Just one of them right there. It's impossible to lucid dream totally at will; you can only maximise your chances of realising you're dreaming through practicing some different techniques religiously. It's not easy and takes commitment, but good luck!
  21. I'm fluent in German, being very familiar with both the grammatical rules and the native quirks of the language. I think I'll be most useful with Deutsch than any other subject. Teaching proper grammar and proofreading written work goes for English, too, but I'm not surprised to see lots of other people signing themselves there. Still, I wouldn't mind being an English tutor, either; put me down for both or just German. I don't mind. Oh, and I'm a Brit, but to be honest I should be available most of the time. Great thread idea, by the way!
  22. I think my view can be summarised by the diagram below, particularly if we're on the subject of people who have left the fandom because of Twilicorn: I can't wait for Season 4. Long live the greatest cartoon show ever made!
  23. My eyes are slightly different colours - deep blue being mellow on the left, and more of a turquoise shade chilling on the right - and I used to hate their non-uniformity. Nowadays, I just think of them as little, accidental quirks of mine. If you don't learn to at least like your eyes, how can you expect to see positive things through them? The gateways to the soul are precious things.
  24. 9 hours into the dreaded day and I have nothing but health to show for it. Still, it's early yet... And luck is often seen as an immovable, non-human force, but I believe that we make their own luck; we just can't foresee or change most of the result. We make our decisions, and luck follows us everywhere, manifesting as good when other peoples' actions construct positively to our own, and manifesting as bad when they are destructive. Or when your bloody browser decides to crash for no apparent reason.
  25. I absolutely agree with the habit of sending a PM to someone who has even just a bit in common with you. Pretty much everyone here has a friendly, honest heart...no matter what it's been through. That's part of what makes us such a beautiful community. So don't be shy. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
