  1. Part of me wants to take this as a challenge, but then the rest of me says that I have neither the time nor the drive to do anything meaningful. Oh well, I'll just keep on voting for her, and if she gets beaten out by Fluttershy again it's not like it's terribly surprising. Besides, if I understand how this tournament works, given that she has more votes than any of the other second place ponies in this round, she's not actually in that bad of a position.
  2. I would like to respectfully disagree (Kefka's in my first place slot ). Of course, I've never gotten around to playing FFVII, so that may be the reason. Though I do like Dancing Mad (Kefka's final boss theme) more than One-Winged Angel (which is still good, just not my favorite). Speaking of Dancing Mad, why hasn't that been posted yet? I must rectify this grave injustice.
  3. So a friend got me the Rock and Rave MLP card game decks for Christmas... I guess I now have a great excuse to finally learn how to play this game!

I doubt it will happen, but it is my duty to vote for Octavia. She's actually doing better than I expected though, so who knows?
  5. Ah, sorry about that. What I mean by that is that in being the main characters their personalities are the most well-defined in the canon. Because of this, we know their personalities, while with other characters (especially background ponies), it could theoretically be anything.
  6. Yeah, that's always going to happen. One of the biggest factors in attraction is the personality, and the Mane Six obviously have the most fleshed out personalities (in canon at least). That gives them a huge advantage, but that didn't stop Lyra from winning the whole thing back in 2013.
  7. Oh boy, this one has returned. This should be... interesting. Just remember everyone, don't take this too seriously. They're cartoon ponies, we're not supposed to be waging war over which one we think is the prettiest. That being said, I'll be rooting for Octavia the whole way! She got quite far last time if I remember correctly.
  8. The Legend of Korra finale was very well done! Considering that Nickelodeon did its best to screw them over at every opportunity, they came out with some really great stuff.

    movies/tv The Hobbit

Well, the third movie's out; might as well revive this topic. I posted earlier about how much I disliked the second movie, so let's go back to that and see what happened. Bottom line: nope, I was not pleasantly surprised. Unless someone really cares, I will spare anyone reading the full rant. It essentially boils down to this: I didn't understand the pacing, a lot of things didn't need to be there, everything was overly cartoonish (spoiler alert: Bard manages to MacGyver a ballista out of broken wood, a bowstring, and his first-born son....), and I couldn't get behind the music. It had some good points too though. Pretty much all of the Bilbo scenes worked well, and there's a really cool fight scene in Dol Goldur. The burning of Lake Town was also quite well done up until the moment that I mentioned earlier... In any case, I'm glad that this is the last movie because I really don't want to see any more. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it, but eh, you can decide for yourself.
  10. So I just came back from the last Hobbit film. All I can say is that at least there won't be any more...

  11. I'm so proud to call myself a member of this site. Really, just fantastic job guys. If there are any hardships that come along with being a brony, it's things like this that make it all worth it. Keep up the great work!
  12. I don't really think that much about fashion, I'm typically more concerned with whether or not I think it's comfortable. That ends up being jeans and a loose-fitting t-shirt (darker, non-flashy colors is a must), with a hoodie added if it's cold. In a business casual environment I upgrade to a polo shirt and khaki dress pants and a belt. For formal wear, it's obviously a suit and tie. As a side note, I find it pretty amusing how many of my friends don't know how to tie a tie. Maybe it's just because I went to a high school where the tie was required as a part of the uniform, so I had four years of daily practice, but it's still funny. During a wedding that I a part of a few months ago, I actually had to end up tying the ties of all of the groomsmen, as well as fixing the groom's tie because it looked silly. It's a surprisingly important skill that all guys should master, even if it's only to look good at job interviews.
  13. Did... did we just pass $2000? That's so awesome! We're two thirds of the way to our goal, and we still have more than ten days left! Let's keep up the awesome work guys!
  14. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. I've ranted about it elsewhere, so I won't go too in detail here, but it essentially boils down to this: I wasn't a huge fan of An Unexpected Journey, so I wasn't expecting too much from Desolation, yet I was still extremely disappointed. I can acknowledge the first film as a good movie but a poor adaptation of The Hobbit, though I don't believe that Desolation was either. Smaug was fantastic, and that's about all that I can say good about Desolation. It's made it so that I'm actually not excited to see the third film (which has already managed to annoy me by changing the title from The Long Road Home to The Battle of Five Armies). Ugh...
  15. We were so close to the $1250 goal, and I couldn't stop myself from bumping it over the hump. Let's keep/restart the forward momentum going guys! We've almost beat out the 2012 collection!
  16. I'd first wonder where all of the bots came from, then I'd be worried that within the 10,000+ notifications, one might not be a brohoof notification and would then proceed to go through all of them to make sure that this hypothetical notification didn't require any response.
  17. Indeed, it was really awesome! The 2012 charity drive started right around the time that I made my account here, and as a new member it was really awesome to watch it develop. I couldn't help but get caught up in how much fun everyone was having, and after going back and forth about it for weeks, I finally added my donation at the eleventh hour. It was probably the first big forum event that I got the chance to participate in, and I'm really glad that I did. Thank you guys for bringing it back; I'm sure that I'm not the only member who has fond memories of the past ones!
  18. I am similarly left-eye dominant, but right-handed. It's really only relevant when I'm shooting, but learning to shoot rifle left-handed took quite a while to get used to. It's certainly not impossible though, and after four years on my high school's rifle team, I'd like to think that I became a pretty good marksman. However, I haven't shot since then, so I'm probably not nearly as good anymore...
  19. http://mlpforums.com/topic/115326-making-christmas-merrier-2014-childrens-holiday-crusade/ To those of us who were here in 2012, the Christmas charity drive is back! To those of you who are new, go check it out! It's a lot of fun and is for a great cause.
  20. Yes! I'm so glad that this came back! I look forward to helping out again (I haven't done so yet, but I plan to soon).
  21. While Final Fantasy VI had an excellent storyline, it's bosses were rather underwhelming... Well, up until you come to postgame Dragon's Den, but that's only available in the GBA remake. My personal pick for most useless boss would be Seigfried, since he's built up as the greatest swordsman ever, and then his fight is intentionally easy. Then he's never mentioned again (except in the Dragon's Neck Colosseum) so he doesn't even get the excuse of at least being an amusing character like Gilgamesh was in FFV.
  22. I believe that your friend can still submit a moderation dispute ticket, though I don't really know the details of how you go about doing that. For the sake of the privacy of the banned member (among a number of other reasons), the reasoning behind a specific banning is typically never discussed in public.
  23. As a bass clarinet player, I know how you feel. I had sort of an interesting situation in my 11th grade English class. Due to a bizarre scheduling conflict, I ended up taking the 12th grade English class. That was all fine and good, except that the seniors in high school are released several weeks before everyone else, so after that point, I was literally the only student in the class and the teacher had no choice but to single me out. I felt bad for her since I was basically ruining her free period, but she seemed fine with it and was a great teacher overall, so I didn't mind.
  24. We would never end up speaking with one another. I'm really bad about meeting/introducing myself to new people, and I imagine that my doppleganger would be as well. If we ever did speak, it would be a terrible conversation because I can't hold a conversation to save my life. Essentially, while we may be aware of each other's existences, we would probably never know enough about each other to actually know that we're basically the same person.
  25. Oh wow, as of today, I've been on this site for two years. That came up suddenly...
