Dawn Sunlight

Dawn was born as an alicorn, her mom was a pink alicorn named Shimmer Splash and her dad was an orange unicorn named  .  Her mom was originally a unicorn, but one day, before Dawn was born, she found a very famous artifact with a lot of magic in it that Celestia had sent a search team to find, and she, being young and curious, took the magic by accident and transformed into an alicorn.  The search team saw this event happen as they were coming up the hill, and one of the ponies in the search party called out, "Thief!"  Shimmer Splash panicked and ran, but left the artifact behind.  Her dad was a unicorn that went to Celestia's school for Gifted Unicorns, and became one of Celestia's favorite pupils, despite not becoming her star pupil.  However, he was really cruel and heartless, thinking more about money than others.  Dawn had a very rough foalhood.  She figured out her special talent very early in her life, being gifted at both flying and magic, and strengthening her magic power with her wings, and found out by accident one day that she enjoyed walking on her two hind legs instead of on all fours like a normal pony.  When she showed her parents, they forbade her from doing it, her mom because she didn't want Dawn to be treated with even more suspicion than she knew Dawn would be receiving from regular ponies, and her dad because he thought it was weird.  Dawn continued to do it in secret, though.  She was terrified of her dad's reaction if he found out, as he would use intimidation to get Dawn to do what he wanted, and Shimmer Splash could never look beyond her love and defending of her husband to criticize or scold him.  One day, Dawn overheard one of her parent's conversation, and overheard that her dad wanted to have her go down the modeling career path, because as an alicorn model, she'd be able to make him a lot of money.  Her mom wasn't going to do a thing to stop him.  Dawn decided to pursue her own path in secret, and she found out about Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns.  She teleported and flew to the school, and went in and asked Celestia if she could be a student.  She was given the entrance exam, and passed with ease, hatching the dragon egg and accidentally magically giving it wings.  Celestia took her as her star pupil, and Dawn began to have secret lessons with her, while trying to stay out of her father's path.  One day, an Earth pony named Starstruck came in to the castle while Dawn was there.  Starstruck asked Dawn if she knew Princess Celestia, and Dawn said yes, and Starstruck asked if she could help her, and Dawn said yes.  Starstruck explained that she wanted to be in the School for Gifted Unicorns, but she was an Earth pony, so she figured she could ask Celestia if she could learn other skills, then become an unicorn, and then get into the school, and Dawn could help her ask Princess Celestia.  But Princess Celestia said no, and dismissed Starstruck.  In frustration, on her way out, she angrily asked Dawn why she was an alicorn, and Dawn said that she wished she wasn't, as she hated the awkward stares everypony in Canterlot always would give her.  Starstruck trotted out with a vengeance.  Another day, her father caught her as she was coming back from one of her lessons, so using his influence as one of Princess Celestia's favorite students, he wrote a letter to Princess Celestia, telling her that she had been tricked by Dawn, and proceeding to tell her a few lies about Dawn.  Celestia then told Dawn that she was no longer her student, and that she didn't want to see Dawn again.  Dawn was shattered inside.  She decided to run away, so she did, and she accidentally in her curiosity discovered and fell into a portal.  She came out in a forest, too tired at first to realize that she wasn't a pony anymore.  She slept in the forest for that first night, and after waking up and discovering she wasn't a pony anymore, she didn't have much of a reaction, after all, she'd just been through a lot.  Thinking out loud, Dawn wished to herself that she could forget her awful foalhood and start fresh here, and she suddenly gets an urge to go walk over to a spot near some rocks.  When she gets there, she suddenly finds herself flat on her back on the ground, with no memory of how she got there, and she doesn't know that was the Memory Stone, and she walks towards a building she sees out of curiosity.  She goes in, meets Fluttershy, and the two hit it off very well.  So Dawn stays near the school, going during the school day, and eventually meets Sunset and starts to stand up for anyone being hurt by Sunset or Snips and Snails.  This is where she is at at the beginning of the story of the EQG rewrite.

Dawn has two sides, her closed off prickly side and her super kind, forgiving side.  Her prickly side doesn't show up much unless she is feeling annoyed or aggravated by something, and most of the time time she tries to be kind to everyone, unless they try to hurt others.  She has some self-esteem problems, but she works hard to try and not let those problems show, though she doesn't always succeed.  She is willing to accept the consequences of her actions unless she feels they are too much, and will give others a second chance, but will keep a watchful eye on them to see if they really have changed.  One of her most prominent traits is loyalty, she will fiercely defend whoever she grows attached to and trusts.  She's also quite curious.

As a pony, Dawn is a red-orange alicorn with a light and dark blue mane and tail, as well as stunning blue eyes.  Her cutie mark is a cloud with a lightning bolt coming out of it inside a burst of red and light blue magic.  As a human, Dawn is a lighter red-orange skinned girl with light and dark blue hair, as well as stunning blue eyes.  She wears a red sparkly dress with a cloud belt across her waist, as well as two lightning bolts coming out of the cloud on the belt.  She has a jacket-like half-sleeved black vest with a blue stripe on it that she wears on top of her dress.  She wears blue sparkly half-leggings with yellow sparkly sides, and orange and blue sneaker-like shoes, with two green scales on the back ends, one on each side of each shoe making four scales in total.

Dawn is caught by Princess Celestia, who recognizes her and locks her in the room next to the mirror room, while Dawn is very confused because her memories are blocked off.

Dawn goes through the portal with Twilight as a guide

Dawn stays in the human world instead of returning with Twilight and Spike

Dawn Turns into Burning Sunlight and is calmed down by Sunset and the rest of the group

Starstruck tricks Dawn into letting her come to the human world, where she then begins to make Dawn's life miserable

Starstruck is driven back to the pony world by Dawn with the help of Spike

Dawn receives her own pendent and the block on her memories is no longer there now that the Memory Stone has just been smashed
